Chapter 111: Chapter 109: He Can’t Quite Suppress His Smile (Part 2)
Especially these disciples from the Bloodfiend Den.
They used to listen only to Javier Sinclair, but now they listened to her as well. ’Joining the Demonic Sects was a great choice. These people are very useful.’
"I’ll get the door for you, Madam."
One of them walked over and placed his hand on the laboratory door, activating the array. The next mont, with a CLICK, the door slowly began to rise.
Celeste Grant walked inside.
The place was enormous, with no end in sight.
The R&D team she once led was hard at work. They were developing new Magic Treasures, several of which were quite lethal. For the past two years, disciples of the Bloodfiend Den had been using them, and the designs were still being improved.
The smartphones, anwhile, had now been updated to version 3.0.
The phones sold in recent years had all been upgraded, and the current models boasted many new features.
For instance, features like group chat and a cara function were extrely popular.
In the first half of the year, Elder Warren had even followed one of Celeste Grant’s old suggestions and created a mini-ga: Goosetris. Since its release, the ga had done wonders to alleviate the tediousness of life for the n and won of the Cultivation World after their daily Cultivation.
Elder Lawson was not present at the mont, but Elder Warren from the Formation Hall was busy drawing up schematics.
Seeing her arrive, everyone stopped their work and bowed in greeting.
"Greetings, Madam."
"We greet you, Madam."
Celeste Grant gestured with her hand.
"There’s no need for such ceremony. Just keep up the good work, and I’ll make sure you all get big bonuses at the end of the year."
Everyone’s spirits lifted, and they all bowed again.
"Thank you, Madam."
Celeste Grant followed Elder Warren to review their progress over the last few years, getting a general sense of where things stood.
"Elder Warren, I have an idea for our next step."
Just as she finished speaking, two more elders arrived.
It was one man and one woman: Elder Lawson, and Elder Carter of the Hall of Talismans. Elder Carter was the only female cultivator among the Bloodfiend Den’s elders, her Cultivation at the Late Stage of Golden Core.
By now they had gathered around, and Elder Lawson, with practiced ease, had already pulled out his little self-made notebook and begun to take notes.
The corner of Celeste Grant’s mouth twitched.
’He’s quite practiced at this.’
"Madam, you were saying? What do you need us to do?"
’Elder Lawson truly is the model employee. When it cos to work, he’s always so eager.’
"You all got here fast."
"Haha, it’s my duty. It is my honor to be of service to you, Madam."
He had rushed over the mont he heard the Madam was here. How could they possibly miss an occasion like this?
"Before we discuss what’s next, I want to sincerely praise Elder Lawson and Elder Warren. During the years I was in seclusion for my epiphany, you two have continually overseen the updates to the phone’s functions. You’ve also led the disciples in developing new Magic Artifacts. You have worked hard."
They were moved.
’Madam... she still rembers us.’
"Madam, it was no hardship."
"Indeed. It is our honor to serve The Exalted One and to serve you, Madam. We swear our undying loyalty to you and The Exalted One."
Celeste Grant announced, "Later, the two of you can go to Nerida and each collect a reward of 100,000 Spirit Stones."
Upon hearing this, the two of them... their old faces flushed with excitent.
’The Spirit Stones aren’t important. What’s important is that we’re still useful.’
"Thank you, Madam."
"You’ve already updated the phones through two versions. Very impressive."
Elder Lawson and Elder Warren smiled in unison.
"Not at all. It is you who is brilliant, Madam, to have conceived of such a fascinating and all-encompassing Magic Treasure. We have rely failed to fully grasp your intentions. Otherwise, we might have been able to do even better."
’Elders, you’re masters of the humblebrag.’
’This isn’t sothing just anyone could accomplish. Even I, Celeste Grant, couldn’t possibly do this on my own. It just goes to show that everyone has their own specialization.’
Celeste Grant looked at the upgraded smartphone.
She looked toward Elder Lawson and the others.
’What a bunch of geniuses.’
She gave them a big thumbs-up.
"There are no words. You guys are just aweso, aweso, aweso."
In truth, even Celeste Grant hadn’t anticipated this. After she had helped develop version 1.0 of the smartphone, she had only offered a few simple follow-up concepts. She never thought that they could take her verbal descriptions and, using the existing knowledge of the Cultivation World—like array inscription—actually bring them to life. These people were truly indispensable R&D talents.
Now, the various shops owned by the other five great powers of the Demonic Sects were also selling the smartphones.
The Bloodfiend Den provided the stock, and they all split the Spirit Stone profits from the sales.
As the elders put it, one had to think bigger. Otherwise, only the Bloodfiend Den would grow strong while the other powers stagnated. If it got to the point where their mbers couldn’t even afford a decent Magic Artifact, the Demonic Sects would beco a laughingstock! They couldn’t afford that humiliation.
These disciples of the Bloodfiend Den had all spent ti with Celeste Grant, and now every one of them was sharper than the last.
When their newly forged smartphones were released, they launched a trade-in program to sell them faster. Custors only had to pay a small amount of Spirit Stones to exchange their old phone for a new one. As a result, sales were always excellent.
The returned phones weren’t wasted, either. They were simply disassembled, reforged, and turned into new devices to be sold again, ensuring not a single bit of material was lost.
"Alright, let’s get down to business."
Celeste Grant glanced at them and began, "Next, I’m planning to develop a smartphone ’app.’ You probably don’t understand what an app is, so let
put it simply. People who buy our phones can download this app and install it. Once they open the app, they’ll be able to watch livestreams, or even sell and trade goods without needing to go to a physical store."
"For example, our Bloodfiend Den disciples could use their phones to video chat with anyone and sell our Elixir Pills. And once the pills are sold, how do we get them to the custor? That would require another app, a delivery service..."
Everyone listened, only half-understanding.
Celeste Grant beckoned them closer.
"So, it’s like this... more specifically, it goes a little sothing like this, blah, blah, blah..."
Celeste Grant spent the entire day in the laboratory, laying out her concepts and ideas for them.
At first, they didn’t get it. But Celeste Grant explained it all slowly, talking from morning until afternoon. By the ti they finally understood, they were all staring at her as if she were so kind of monster.
’She’s too amazing.’
’Truly powerful.’
’We all have one head...’
’But their Madam could co up with such things. It was unbelievable; they never would have thought of any of it. After Celeste Grant explained the applications, they all thought it was simply god-like.’
’If they can actually develop this, it will be incredibly convenient.’
"Madam, how do you co up with so many things?"
"Yes, it’s just too incredible."
Celeste Grant looked awkward.
’I’m just a humble delivery girl.’
’If I hadn’t seen these things before with my own eyes, how could my brain ever have conceived of them?’
Thinking of this, she cleared her throat and said, "So, do you think it’s feasible? I’m not sure if you’ll be able to create it."
Elder Lawson replied, "Feasible? Of course, it’s feasible!"
’Even if it isn’t, we’ll make it so!’
Celeste Grant nodded. "Then let’s give it a try."
