Chapter 86 : Do You See How Impressive Your Sister Vivian Is?
The words abruptly cut off.
Nock glared furiously at the maid gripping his wrist. With anger flaring in his chest, he barked, “When masters are speaking, what business does a servant like you have here? Let go of !”
Good, very good. Last ti it was this again, and now once more — truly audacious and utterly disrespectful. He could not break free for the mont, and then he looked at Vivian in disbelief.
“Vivian, why are you not telling her to release ?!”
The mont he finished speaking, his wrist was twisted harshly. He sucked in a breath from the pain. “Are you really going to indulge a lowly servant to make such decisions on her own?!”
His rage surged completely out of control. His free hand subconsciously swung toward the maid’s face — but the next second, the tightening force on his wrist drained all strength from him.
His five fingers stiffened like machinery. The flesh of his palm was visibly redder than the area below the wrist, the veins clearly bulging. If this continued, numbness would not be far away.
He was only an ordinary human. How could he possibly resist Eve, a Vampire who had also worked as an assassin for years? It required almost no effort at all.
Vivian took in his humiliated appearance completely. The corner of her lips lifted uncontrollably, and her beautiful eyes studying the maid were filled with satisfaction and curiosity.
However, dealing with the eyesore ca first. She rely gave Eve a glance, and the latter released her grip.
Eve withdrew her hands and folded them before her abdon, standing to the side as if the previous events had nothing to do with her at all, wearing an obedient expression (JPG).
Seeing Nock continuously rubbing his wrist in a miserable state only made Vivian more disgusted. Supporting her chin with her hand, she said casually, “You dared point at
so rudely. What is wrong with letting you suffer a little?”
“You…!”
“And furthermore, the ‘lowly servant’ you speak of is my person — she belongs to , Vivian Hatherin.”
Vivian’s gaze grew colder as she pronounced judgnt with imposing authority.
She leaned forward slightly, releasing the pressure of her family’s prestige. “You insulted her in front of . You know very well whose dignity you are striking. The Hatherin Family tolerates not the slightest trampling from outsiders. I will return your words to you — even if it is the Perry Family, so what?”
Not stirring trouble did not an she would endure without retaliation. If matters truly escalated into confrontation, the one forced to bow under pressure would never be the Hatherin Family.
At this mont, like a master protecting her own, Eve had not disappointed her — and naturally she would not allow Eve to face the insult alone.
Their eyes t in tacit understanding. Vivian puffed out her chest proudly, as though silently saying, [Do you see how impressive your Sister Vivian is?]
But the next second, Nock’s voice made her brows knit tightly again.
“You… you… tsk… must it truly beco this hostile?!” Seeing threats were useless, he attempted an emotional appeal instead, unaware it was the most useless thod of all.
It could not be helped. That was the limit of his mind.
Vivian chuckled. “You were the one who started it. What does it have to do with ?”
“Do not think I do not know those filthy thoughts of yours. That disgusting gaze is vulgar and revolting. If you do not want your nights of pleasure in the black street to be made public, leave now. Behaving yourself will do you no harm.”
“What…?!”
Nock’s heart skipped a beat. He had no idea how she knew he had gone to the black street — she had even pointed out indulgence. Victoria Charm had truly ruined him!
“That is not it, Vivian, listen to my explanation. I was only passing by on business. I never went to any Victoria Charm, much less indulged in anything!”
“I do not recall saying you went there.”
“……”
He suddenly had nothing to say.
The situation had already reached a point beyond repair. In her eyes, he was now the frivolous type — let alone any possibility of developing feelings afterward.
Even so, Nock was unwilling to give up. Like a clown, his face was flushed — but why was his nose red and round as well?
“Vivian, you must believe . I swear to the heavens I truly did not do such things. My heart holds only you!”
BOOM—!
Outside, thunder suddenly roared. The drizzle gradually turned into a torrential downpour. The guests were startled only briefly before imrsing themselves back into the party.
Nock stared wide-eyed at the window, breathing heavily and trembling, inwardly cursing whether even heaven was stabbing him in the back.
What kind of coincidence was this?!
anwhile, the elegant red-haired beauty seated on the sofa wore nothing but mockery on her face, constantly rejecting his hypocritical lies and silently trampling his dignity.
But… what could he do?
Nock lowered his eyes, still clutching his right wrist. He wanted to say sothing, yet no words ca out — awkward and angry at once.
At that mont, a person approached from behind. He wore a tailored suit, appeared elderly, and held his right hand horizontally before him with a white cloth draped over it.
He addressed Nock respectfully. “Second Young Master, the Eldest Young Master requests your presence.”
Nock clicked his tongue, unable to understand why his brother suddenly wanted him, yet unable to refuse.
After one last look at Vivian, he snorted stubbornly and left without turning back — only to flinch in pain when he subconsciously swung his wrist, looking rather comical.
The elderly gentleman then bowed toward Vivian. “I sincerely apologize. My young master has caused Miss Vivian trouble.”
“The Eldest Young Master also asked
to convey his apology and hopes you will be magnanimous and not take it to heart.”
“Hmph. Tell him to learn from his brother. Truly disgraceful.”
“Yes, you are correct.”
Vivian waved her hand. After the man left her sight, she turned to the maid still silently dazed, stood up, and lightly tugged her skirt to bring her back to attention.
Smiling, she patted the spot beside her on the sofa and called gently, “Eve, sit.”
Eve hesitated for exactly two and a half seconds. Her intuition told her sothing felt slightly wrong — the aning behind that smile was unclear.
“Co sit beside !”
Ah… now this felt right. Eve acknowledged Vivian, though her soul did not.
She had not even settled properly before the petite body carrying a faint fragrance leaned close. One hand rested on Eve’s shoulder while the other lifted her chin.
“I could not tell. I originally thought you would only put on a show… but…”
Her tone turned aningful. “Trained?”
Eve remained expressionless. “Young Miss, before becoming a maid, I happened to work as a bodyguard for several years. Only self-defense skills, nothing worth ntioning.”
(aning she could shatter bulletproof glass with a kick.)
“I see…” Vivian nodded.
Reasonable. Her previous safe escape from encountering the mafia now made sense. She had even worried about this woman — yet she had hidden it from her.
She did not dwell on it long, but her expression still changed swiftly. “That makes sense. Without so capability, Father would not have placed you here. However… why hide it from ?”
“You did not ask.”
“If I did not ask, could you not volunteer it?” Vivian pressed closer again, leaning half her body against Eve.
They were far too close. Her voice and breath brushed against Eve’s ear, making it itch. Eve pressed her lips together, subconsciously reaching toward those black-stockinged feet.
“Stop. Wash your hands before touching . Hmph.”
