Chapter 32 : Isn’t It All Mine? (Refusing the Pear)

Eve held her parasol over her shoulder, slowly stood up, and first glanced at Vivian.

The little girl lifted her small face. There was truly nothing to criticize. Although her figure was indeed petite… and flat… the innate temperant born from nobility compensated for it.

In contrast, Annabella was trying hard to puff out her chest to display maturity. Well… at least she still looked like a person. That was about it.

Setting facts aside, asking soone with a prettier face and a better figure to judge the two of you—was that not simply humiliating yourselves?

Eve fell silent for a few seconds, then took a breath. “The appearances of you two… each have your own characteristics.”

Annabella showed a disappointed expression, while Vivian was extrely dissatisfied with that answer, clearly unwilling to stop unless a victor was decided.

“However,” Eve continued, “if I must stand on one side…”

She paused again. Under their gazes, she moved one step toward Vivian.

Just one step—but the damage was imnse.

“No——!”

Annabella howled toward the sky. Even a child’s wail after a city collapsed would not sound this tragic.

“Why?! Eve, how can you do this?! Everything between us in the past… have you forgotten?!”

In Vivian’s eyes she looked purely like a defeated dog. Hands on her waist, she displayed a triumphant expression.

Annabella trembled, pointing at the white-haired maid while clutching her chest and stepping back repeatedly. “Y-you… you still say you’re not obsessed with children?!”

Unfortunately, Eve ignored her. Instead, she looked at Vivian and tapped her own head, then waved her hand.

She was signaling: that person’s brain is a little problematic—please be understanding and care for special groups.

“I can tell,” Vivian sneered and faced the green-haired loser again. “With that useless excess flesh of yours, you think you can beat this young lady?”

“Then what do you rely on?!”

“What do I rely on? I rely on my surna being Hatherin.”

“Hatherin what—uh…” Annabella instinctively retorted but suddenly stopped.

Looking at Eve’s hinting gaze, she gradually understood everything. But setting your mission aside—if you are being forced, just blink.

And if that still does not work… we could each take a step back, and I could help push things along.

“What? Now you’re afraid?”

The childish quarrel should end. Vivian stared coldly. “This young lady will make you pay for what you said—”

“I need your help,” Eve suddenly spoke.

“Tsk! Who allowed you to interrupt ?!”

Eve did not respond. She only kept pointing to her head, waving her hand, and finally pointing at Annabella. “Miss, arguing with special groups damages your dignity.”

Vivian froze. She looked at Eve’s serious explanation, then glanced at the green-haired fool pretending to wipe tears.

Suddenly she felt… Eve made far too much sense.

“Hmph.” Vivian snorted and stopped looking at Annabella.

Annabella also stopped her exaggerated noise—her crying had been unpleasant to hear anyway since it was fake. She turned to Eve. “What is it? Let

hear.”

“You have a car, right? Take us back.”

“That simple?”

“Yes.”

Annabella nodded with her chin in hand. “I understand, but… why should I help? There seems to be no benefit for .”

After speaking, she deliberately winked at Eve in an extrely nauseating manner.

Eve clicked her tongue inwardly. As expected, she never did anything without profit.

Just as she was about to speak, Vivian beside her grew impatient.

“Tsk. Asking for your help is already honoring you, yet you still want benefits? Vulgar!”

Annabella shrugged and pretended to leave. “Then the two of you must find another way. After all, it’s only going ho—call your family to pick you up, or let this [Personal Maid] carry you back.”

“I’m leaving now. I still need to research new dicines~ hm hm~”

“Wait,” Vivian called her, face full of displeasure. “I did not allow you to leave.”

“For the sake that you at least know Eve, this young lady will reluctantly give you a chance to negotiate.”

Annabella imdiately turned back. The feeling was like when parents walk away during bargaining while shopping.

“You should have said that earlier! I’m not greedy—at least the travel fee should exist, right?”

Vivian sneered. “Your ambition is only this much.”

“Sigh, research funding is tight. Please understand.”

Vivian did not bother arguing. Research funding ant nothing to her. She directly took out a stack of banknotes from her handbag.

Then she tossed it casually. Annabella raised her hand and caught it.

“There should be at least one hundred thousand here. Is that enough to satisfy your disgusting greed?”

Annabella’s eyes went straight. “How much?”

She expected paynt, but not a hundred thousand at once. Truly worthy of a great family—this would relieve part of her research funding shortage.

“Enough! More than enough, my young lady! You are generous and radiant with kindness!” Annabella instantly switched to lackey mode.

She stepped forward wanting a handshake but Vivian avoided it in disgust. She did not feel awkward and simply stuffed the money into her white coat pocket.

Watching her money-obsessed expression, Vivian could not even be bothered to comnt. She coldly said to Eve, “Look at the kind of people you associate with. Hmph.”

Eve showed helplessness and said nothing, only gave Annabella a look.

[Where is your backbone?]

[Business is business. What backbone? Is backbone more practical than money?]

“……”

Hopeless.

Until the three of them got into the car parked near the clinic and drove toward Morninglight Manor, the carriage interior beca quiet. Only the idiot in the driver’s seat could not help humming.

Eve sat beside Vivian, gazing out the window at the streets. After a while, she spoke softly. “Miss, I will repay that money later.”

Vivian was rich, but it was a matter of principle. After all, the suggestion had been hers—she knew a friend nearby.

“Hmph. When I go out to play, I can still afford this pocket money. Once given, it’s given. Stop talking nonsense.”

“But the ones you lost to

before—”

“Tsk!”

Vivian’s face visibly flushed—not from shyness, but pure embarrassnt and anger.

“Do not ntion that again, understood! Consider it a reward from this young lady! Hmph… say one more word and I will deduct your salary.”

After thinking, she added, “Although I never actually paid you… anyway, do not ntion it!”

She crossed her arms and glared at her reflection in the window, unaware her ears were red—otherwise it would be quite amusing.

Just as Eve hesitated to speak, a bizarre singing voice ca from the front.

“Vosini~ is my hotown…”

Vivian: ……

Eve: ……
