Chapter 1600: Chapter 1583: Retribution Never Fails

Old Mr. Zhong’s face changed suddenly when he heard Lu Huairu’s words. He squinted his eyes and asked, "How do you know about Gao’s affair?"

Lu Huairu’s face flashed with pride: "If you want to keep it secret, don’t do it. Senior Brother, you’ve moved quite a few items over the years, and those things have fooled quite a few people."

Old Mr. Zhong seed not to understand Lu Huairu’s sarcasm and said coldly, "So what? You liked antiques from early on and know no less than I do about them. You’ve been wandering outside these years, and you probably understand the antique and art market better than I do. Modern artworks aren’t necessarily cheaper than antiques. The things I sold are sold as artworks, unrelated to relics, and what buyers do with them is beyond my control."

Hearing Old Mr. Zhong’s flawless explanation, Lu Huairu couldn’t help but click his tongue:

"Indeed, it’s impeccable, but the person you sold the items to is an Eastern devil. I’m curious, given your character, how could you do such a thing? I rember you joined Dao n because soone forced you to fake things, even causing your daughter to lose her life. How did you regress over the years? Aren’t you worried about your daughter’s unrest on her way to the Yellow Springs?"

Seeing Lu Huairu ntion his daughter, Old Mr. Zhong’s face turned livid instantly. He sneered at Lu Huairu:

"Since you’ve investigated so thoroughly, do you know why that Eastern man nad Gao went through so much trouble to get close to ?"

Lu Huairu’s expression froze, not understanding what Old Mr. Zhong ant: "What?"

A trace of iciness and killing intent flashed in Old Mr. Zhong’s eyes, but he looked at Lu Huairu with thick sarcasm:

"Seems like your intel isn’t professional enough. That Gao approached

for the half of the item I had. He has been flattering

with a purpose for years and finally showed his slip the other day by stealing the map I hid in a secret compartnt."

Lu Huairu was shocked at heart and beca anxious: "Your item was stolen?!"

Seeing Lu Huairu’s anxious face, Old Mr. Zhong felt even more disdain: "Stolen? Maybe. But that Eastern devil probably got it wrong, thinking I’m easily deceived. In fact, those things were hidden away in an unknown place long ago. The map he stole was just a fake I made years ago."

Upon hearing the stolen item was a fake map, Lu Huairu finally felt relieved. His eyes flashed with anger, and he gritted his teeth:

"Those damned Easterners, how did they know about the existence of that item? No, this matter must not be leaked further, or it will attract more people’s covetous eyes. We must eliminate all who know of it!"

Old Mr. Zhong smirked as he heard this: "To eliminate those in the know... does that include ?"

Lu Huairu paused internally, for he indeed had that thought, but he dared not show any clue in front of Old Mr. Zhong and quickly forced a smile:

"Senior Brother, if I wanted to get rid of you, why wait until now? I’ve really co to cooperate with you. You should know I lack big ambitions; I just want to beco an immortal. I’m almost half buried now, and if I don’t do this, I fear it will be too late in a few years."

Lu Huairu tried to move with emotion, but Old Mr. Zhong was unmoved. He looked at Lu Huairu, suddenly smirked, and showed a sinister smile: "Do you know what happened to that Eastern devil nad Gao in the end?"

Lu Huairu looked up at Old Mr. Zhong with a puzzled expression.

"That map was problematic. Gao took the map to Xiangxi. Guess what happened? I saw on the news two days ago that a mountain in the Xiangxi Miao Village suddenly collapsed overnight, turning into a vast expanse of water."

Saying this, Old Mr. Zhong’s eyes shone brighter: "I heard that Gao went into the mountains with several Eastern devils and never ca out. Probably buried alive under that lake. Don’t you find this ending interesting?"

Lu Huairu was utterly stiff, looking at Old Mr. Zhong in disbelief, full of shock and horror.

Old Mr. Zhong acted as if he didn’t see it and continued, "You want to cooperate with ? Are you sure? Or do you want to end up like Gao Yuyuan?"

Huo Sining and Gu Xu, who were just outside the door, were also stunned when they heard this.

Although they had experienced the catastrophe in the Divine Tomb Village’s underground maze, they didn’t know what was going on until every truth was revealed at this mont.

It turned out that Gao Yuyuan was buried under the black mountain and white water because he stole a fake map from Old Mr. Zhong.

Huo Sining really didn’t know what to say, especially when recalling when the upheaval happened, as she surfaced from the underground palace, seeing Gao Yuyuan and Fujiwara Seiho buried by debris and drowned by the underground water. She felt a hint of sympathy for them.

Those two calculated everything but never expected such an ending.

Dead, without even a burial site. Eroded by the underground waters under that thousand-year-old cave, probably even bones won’t remain after a few years.

Thinking about how ruthless and tough Fujiwara Seiho was, a strong-willed individual, managed to escape death by using smoke bombs after getting shot by Huo Sining during the Magic Capital’s underwater tomb encounter — that was clever. However, being dragged down by incompetent teammates, resulting in such a tragic death, is truly sigh-worthy.

Yet, despite feeling a bit of sympathy, Huo Sining would never admit that she secretly felt more gleeful.

Fujiwara Seiho was the epito of sacrificing others to save himself. Back in Min City, she personally witnessed him commit murder on a deserted island, and later saw his indifference towards the mariners’ deaths on the Awa Maru. Therefore, witnessing Fujiwara Seiho getting buried alive, Huo Sining only felt relieved.

This is retribution; it’s not that there’s no report, it’s just that the ti hasn’t co yet.

Good and evil will be repaid; the Heavenly Dao is cyclical. Do you think heaven would spare anyone?

Lu Huairu was also sowhat dumbfounded after learning about Gao Yuyuan’s death. After a long pause, he forced a smile: "Senior Brother, you’re joking."

Old Mr. Zhong laughed nonchalantly: "Whether you believe it or not is up to you. My words are here, if you’re not afraid of ending up like Gao, feel free to cooperate with ."

Lu Huairu, though angry at heart, didn’t dare to provoke Old Mr. Zhong further. He hesitated and was cautious, knowing that half of the item was still in Old Mr. Zhong’s hands. If he really pushed too hard, this lunatic surnad Zhong might burn that half. Then he would truly be unable to achieve anything.

Considering how Old Mr. Zhong orchestrated the pitfall for Gao, Lu Huairu had every reason to believe that burning that half was entirely within his Senior Brother’s capabilities!
