879: Chapter 879: The Way the Rich Issue Tasks
Zhuang ngtian had been disard when Xu Huo realized that the ground beneath the greenery was hollow, actually composed of interconnected vines, thick enough to support the growth of the flowers and so trees above.
As Zhuang ngtian was flung into the air, Xu Huo quickly used kite strings to secure her and moved in the original direction.
By this ti, Zhuang ngtian had cut the vines off her feet and was swiftly pulled away from the spot by Xu Huo, but they had not gone far when the surrounding greenery seed to co alive all at once.
A massive number of vines flew in from all directions, precisely capturing them both!
“Effective range!” Zhuang ngtian used her prop, and the vines nearing her drooped down in the air, intertwining and tangling with those behind to form a net-like barrier, successfully blocking off the approaching greenery.
But right after that, large flower buds dropped from above, bursting open and spraying out a huge amount of white powder.
No need to guess, that stuff was obviously toxic.
Running ahead, Xu Huo made a sudden stop and threw two bottles of combustion material backward, pulling out a lighter to start a fire.
In a forest with high humidity and dense vegetation, a small fire can hardly catch, not to ntion that the active vines would automatically extinguish it, so the fire only burned for a few seconds before the succeeding waves of greenery completely smothered it.
“I have an accelerant!” Zhuang ngtian threw bottles down from mid-air as if it cost her nothing.
The fire that rekindled was much larger than before, unlikely to go out even if covered by the greenery for a while, and then they both watched the ground overturn—the greenery automatically discarded the burning parts, wrapped the fiery spots into a ball, and then tossed it into the deep valley below.
The missing parts provided a glimpse of the conditions below, which was not much better than above, draped with vines.
When that fireball dropped, it quickly fell into darkness; there was no sound of it hitting the ground, nor was it clear enough to discern the shape of the valley below.
Xu Huo and his companion had already landed in a safe place, standing at a distance watching the greenery slowly relax and spread out, they couldn’t help but feel alard.
All these plants and flowers had evolved into hunting varieties, interwoven into a complex network, making the entire botanical garden seem just as dangerous.
Both of them simultaneously looked up, seeing the overwhelming greenery above, understanding that even if they escaped ground level, they could still potentially beco prey.
Their task was to draw a full panorama at a designated spot, but not only were they still at a considerable straight-line distance from their destination, but they also had to climb a steep slope covered in grass and trees.
“The difficulty of the task increases when two players work together,” Zhuang ngtian said.
“The poison you used yesterday seed powerful.
Why not just poison all the vegetation here?”
“Are you sure?” Xu Huo asked.
“Do you have a Rank-A antitoxin?”
“I’ll buy it from you,” Zhuang ngtian replied directly.
“At this point, let’s not be so particular, shouldn’t friends help each other?”
“Not that many potions available,” Xu Huo said plainly.
“Look at the size of this grove.”
A few potions would hardly make a difference, and the pathogens on Yuguo’s severed hand couldn’t proliferate infinitely or that quickly either.
That thod would be burdenso and thankless.
Zhuang ngtian looked ahead and said, “Small animals are quite clever.
They should know where is safe to walk.”
Unfortunately, there were no birds or beasts in sight.
If all the greenery in the valley hunted, it was possible that animals avoided this place or had all been caught.
There was no better option than to confront it head-on.
“We need to speed up,” Xu Huo said.
“Although these plants have evolved, their reaction ti isn’t fast.
As long as we run fast enough, it’ll be difficult for them to catch us.”
As he adjusted his shoes, his figure flashed, and he disappeared from his spot.
The characteristic “Straight-Line Distance” allowed for rapid movent between two points within a hundred ters, and Xu Huo could not only advance at high speeds but also change direction mid-course at will, making crossing this grove no difficult task for him.
Zhuang ngtian, on the other hand, had more trouble.
Although the protective suit spared her from the scratches of green branches and leaves, the biggest issue inside was the overly crowded plants, sotis bumping into them and not finding a way through but possibly getting entangled by vines instead.
However, this wasn’t a serious crisis, as Xu Huo cleared the way ahead, and they took an hour to pass through the valley.
Arriving at the foot of the mountain, the terrain underfoot was no longer suspended vegetation, but the ground was covered with wet and slippery moss, making progress not easy when they had to find their own way.
They hadn’t walked far when Zhuang ngtian suddenly let out a curse, “Fuck!”
Xu Huo turned around, tilting his head to avoid the worms that dropped from above, “Is your protective suit torn?”
So worms carried corrosive mucus.
“That’s not the case,” Zhuang ngtian said in disgust.
“Those aty worms are so repulsive, crawling over my body, finger-length one after another, it’s giving
goosebumps!”
“The insect repellent isn’t working?” Xu Huo continued walking forward, asking casually.
“It’s all on the trees, it just smoked them out instead,” Zhuang ngtian had no choice but to put away the potion, but soon after, she was bitten by a poisonous snake.
After taking the antitoxin, her numb legs forced her to rest on the spot.
Xu Huo also stopped to replenish his strength.
“You’re unhard,” Zhuang ngtian chose to drink a Physical Enhancent Potion.
“I’m wearing thick clothes,” Xu Huo’s tone was flat; in fact, a few small holes had already ford in the protective layer on his face, so lted by worms, others bitten by poisonous insects, but he had plenty of protective suits and could change them midway.
“Rich people,” Zhuang ngtian sized him up, then brought up the topic of passing the level, asking again, “Why are you insistent on choosing the white ball?”
“Don’t tell
it’s to show sincerity.
Generally, in this kind of situation, others would just think you’re a big sucker, tricking you into the mission first; you wouldn’t even have the chance to make friends, let alone gain any friendship.”
“Just giving it a try; if it doesn’t work out, the worst that can happen is we fail to pass,” Xu Huo replied nonchalantly.
Zhuang ngtian didn’t quite believe him, but seeing he wasn’t inclined to say more, she dropped the subject.
Ten minutes later, they set off again, but Xu Huo soon realized sothing was amiss.
“We’re walking in circles.”
Zhuang ngtian first checked her watch, “The direction is fine, and we’ve been walking uphill all the ti; it’s impossible that we’re lost.”
Xu Huo bent down to part the grass and dug into the ground with his sword.
Sure enough, although the surface was covered in a layer of soil, underneath was a layer filled with plant roots that were not naturally grown, with obvious gaps for movent.
“I’ll go up and check.” Zhuang ngtian took out an Iron Chain Gun and pulled the trigger toward the sky, the automatically retracting iron chain whisking her out of the grove.
Leaves whirred down, and Xu Huo waited in place for half a minute; during this ti, he felt subtle changes underfoot, these plants more like underground streams, hard to detect but incessantly alive.
It seed that going up the mountain from the air was the most economical.
A minute later, Zhuang ngtian had not returned.
