Chapter 2149: Chapter 2149: An Emotionally Charged Person

The Tian Family, like other erging influential families in Zone 008, considers their family mbers the core strength. Due to extended lifespans and improved physical abilities, bearing offspring is not burdenso for Evolvers and Players nowadays. Therefore, to cultivate more Players, influential families inevitably encourage family mbers to reproduce early and often. Of course, they initially received support from the Municipal Governnt.

Besides their own Player team, the Tian Family, post-expansion, also selects promising but weaker Players for cultivation, or simply adopts children. These Players might not always stay with the Tian Family and could join the Municipal Governnt or Player Organization openly or covertly. Thus, no faction or family can entirely sever ties with the district’s support. Following the Tian Family’s negative news outbreak, Players working for them faced scrutiny and condemnation from all sides.

Xu Huo didn’t know if Dou Shengnan was on the ship that took away people from Brick Tale Town, but the Tian Family ought to bear a heavier price than her.

As he turned, he saw the buzz-cut man who previously stopped the attack outside the mansion district. The man was also a Super Evolutionary with ntal Powers, now outside the Defensive Barrier, near the protesting crowd, keeping a fair distance from the gathered Players.

Their gazes collided, but Xu Huo showed no expression, entering the portal and leaving the car station city.

At this mont, Zone 008 welcod another dawn.

At seven in the morning, Xu Huo punctually arrived outside Dr. Dian’s residential area with freshly made breakfast.

Dr. Dian, accustod to coming out for breakfast at this ti, lost his smile upon stepping out of the doorway and ignored the offered breakfast. He said, "I can’t help with the instance matters, nor can I assist with your other goals. Rather than wasting ti here, you should do sothing useful."

"I hold a different view; how can listening to a wise man’s words be a waste of ti?" Xu Huo smiled, following behind him.

Perhaps realizing Xu Huo wouldn’t easily give up without achieving his goal, Dr. Dian stopped and said, "I’ve told you, the instance you want to clear has nothing to do with ."

"That’s okay." Xu Huo also stopped, "I just want to ask you a few questions."

"If it’s questions like yesterday’s, don’t bother asking. No matter how bad Zone 008 is, it’s my ho, and it holds the highest place in my heart." Dr. Dian said emphatically.

"It’s unrelated; it’s about another matter." Xu Huo restrained his smile, switching the breakfast from his left hand to his right. "When I was very young, my sister and I lived in a hospital. As children without parents, receiving free treatnt during illness was a rare thing in the place where I lived."

"The people in the hospital were all very good. The adults were willing to take care of the children, and my sister and I helped with small tasks within our ability to thank them, though often we added to their troubles."

"Later, a doctor from the hospital adopted my sister and . However, he had a child requiring long-term dication, and providing for our als and education was challenging. Though others in the hospital couldn’t take us ho, they helped whenever possible: sotis with fresh fruits and vegetables, sotis with a bit of living expenses."

"Thus, I grew into adulthood, started working independently. By then, the world began to evolve, and signs of evolution appeared in both my foster father and his child. Unable to control his hunger, my foster father attacked the hospital, killing nearly twenty doctors and nurses, including almost all the uncles and aunts who watched

grow and helped ."

"When I learned about the incident and my foster father’s disappearance, my suspicions turned towards him. I lost control to anger; I bought a knife, planning to return ho and perish together with him..."

At this point, Xu Huo paused as if to calm his emotions, then continued, "Just as I reached the door, I heard my sister’s screams. Upon breaking in, I saw my sister sitting blankly against the wall, her neck injured. Following her gaze across the room, I noticed my foster father had stabbed his own child, whose mouth was bloody. At this mont, he looked up at ."

"My foster father was in tears; his child died by his hand."

"I held the knife, intending to kill him. He killed so many uncles and aunts at the hospital."

"But he killed his child to save my sister."

"The sight of my foster father with blood-covered hands and tear-stained face remains etched in my mind. My mind was blank then, and it still is now, even after several years, I’m not sure if the decision I made then was right."

Xu Huo raised his head towards Dr. Dian, whose expression had evidently changed. "Dr. Dian, if it were you, what would you do? What would you think?"

After a long pause, Dr. Dian sighed, saying, "Let’s find a place to sit and talk."

The two then moved into a nearby small park, sat in a less crowded spot, and only then did Dr. Dian speak again, "I’ve studied so psychology books. Though not an expert, I can try to help you sort this out."

Xu Huo listened attentively.

"Because humans create civilization, civilization inherently has order; law and emotion are the foundation of order."

"Even in today’s chaotic ga world, law and emotion are tacitly abided rules by humans."

"Your uncertainty about the correctness of your actions arises from approaching it emotionally. Legally, your foster father killed many people; he should pay with his life, and his child who attacked your sister should die too."

"But your foster father’s life or death shouldn’t be your decision. Whether you decide to kill him or not, you shouldn’t carry a psychological burden for it."

Dr. Dian sighed again, "Legally executing such decisions is correct, but humans have emotions. You want to avenge those who were kind to you. Yet your foster father raised you, so you wanted to kill him and then yourself. Seeing your foster father killed his own child to protect your sister makes you waver on this emotional balance, as he wasn’t yet a completely irrational animal; he retained kindness, so you couldn’t kill a good man who helped you and saved your sister."

"Ultimately, regardless of whether you killed your foster father, your choice wasn’t wrong."

"Because no matter the motivation behind any conclusion you reached, it’s rooted not in malice but rather in intense emotion, fitting a normal human growth pattern, hence your lasting inability to reconcile it."

"Few things are purely black or white, right or wrong. It’s entirely normal for an average person to struggle in perfectly controlling their emotions."

He seed to empathize with this, "This is the struggle of those still alive."

After hearing his words, Xu Huo’s expression barely changed, only remarking, "You too are a person full of emotion."
