Chapter 2014: Chapter 2014: Stranded
"Isn’t it strange," the female player with the red scarf continued, "I feel like they died so inexplicably, not only did they willingly go to their deaths, but they also overca the human instinct to survive, without any resistance or struggle."
"Not necessarily," the female player squatting next to the corpses pointed at their fingers, "look, they’re all wet, which ans that alien’s body is mostly made of water, so even if they struggled, it would be hard to leave any trauma marks."
The red scarf pointed out the scratch marks outside the window.
"No one said there’s only one alien," the female player stood up, patted her leg, and said, "but it’s odd that no one in your compartnt witnessed their deaths."
"Didn’t two people see it? But unfortunately, they both ran away," the red scarf said indifferently. "Are you trying to pick a fight with that comnt?"
"Why would I?" The female player glanced at Xu Huo and continued, "I find that alien very strange. Could it involve so special power, like ntal interference or sothing?"
This likely relates to the special evolution of the alien, which often has to do with the ga. The boxes that were brought on board were specifically opened at night, presumably for so sort of secret experint.
At this point, the players who had gone to the front and back of the train to search for people returned. There was no doubt that the search yielded no results. It’s unknown whether the two missing people were killed or changed their appearances—either way, there was no trace. anwhile, the player who inspected the train’s head inford everyone that the train was forced to stop because the area beneath the front seed corroded, creating a gap. The train’s kinetic main body was damaged, so it definitely couldn’t start again. Fortunately, the front wasn’t penetrated, and overall, the train remained intact.
"The bad news is that the ergency help system on the train is also damaged. It’s uncertain whether the staff notified anyone to repair the train after leaving, and players cannot contact the nearest Orbital Supply Departnt imdiately." The male player in the second compartnt straightened the tie on his chest.
The players gathered in the second compartnt organized the information they had learned.
First, the train is basically broken and cannot move again. All they can do now is wait.
Second, the train attack might be related to Hengxing Company, so they should be ntally prepared for no rescue.
Third, the alien that killed is outside the train, as they checked all the compartnts and found no traces of water or the alien, nor were the windows broken.
Fourth, the two missing players from the second compartnt and the boxes that disappeared with them could be a problem.
If they’re just ordinary players, they wouldn’t take the boxes out again for their own safety. But if they have a few screws loose or are working for Hengxing Group, then it’s another story.
Now, the front and back doors of all compartnts are open, so information is shared, and the worst outco they face is being abandoned on the track as experint subjects by Hengxing Group. If that’s the case, death is the only path.
"To test an alien’s ability, there’s no need to kill an entire compartnt’s players, right?" soone said. "Isn’t it enough to achieve the experint’s goal? After all, this compartnt is full of advanced players."
This train mainly consists of Rank-C and Rank-B players, considered high-level among players. After all, excluding super players, the top players are Rank-A players, but how many advanced players are there in the ga, and would Hengxing Group care?
"Anyway, let’s first find those two people from the second compartnt," the red scarf said, "one compartnt at a ti. Any objections?"
Now they’re trapped here, and apart from strengthening the train, all they have left is to trace those two boxes.
"Who’s going to keep these three boxes?" the tie-wearing male player pointed at the boxes in Xu Huo’s hand.
"Let him keep them, of course," a female player from the sa compartnt said, "He was the one who brought them in the first place, and he’s the least likely to open those boxes."
Most people had no objections. Those three boxes weren’t safe, so why fight over them?
But still, so felt it unsafe to leave the boxes out. They should at least be isolated in the luggage compartnt in case the boxes are coated with so material that attracts aliens.
Xu Huo also acknowledged this possibility, so he simply pushed the boxes away, "You can put them in your luggage compartnt."
The boxes placed in front of them made those who spoke hesitated. Although the luggage compartnt was safer, anyone would worry when the first person who got the boxes preferred to hand them over rather than put them in their luggage.
Ultimately, the three boxes sat on the table untouched, with only soone placing a defense prop over them.
Xu Huo didn’t bother with those three boxes either. Each compartnt was mostly sealed off with props by players on shifts, so the view inside and outside differed most of the ti. Even though the lights in the compartnts were off, people were worried about attracting attention from the aliens outside and thus sealed off the surroundings when replacing props.
"Don’t rush." He stopped a player preparing to replace a prop and looked outside. The sides of the track weren’t completely dark, so he could still identify his surroundings. From this side, there was no sign of alien activity outside, and even the water stains left by the alien had dried up.
"Where did that alien go?" Xu Huo asked.
"Who knows," the stopped player said as he quickly sealed the window after Xu Huo stepped back, then continued, "I just asked the people in car fifteen, and that alien presumably moved from the front to the back of the train and then disappeared, maybe it went far away."
"To be honest, I think the chance of identifying people is slim."
"Everyone was chaotic when the train stopped. The two who left the second compartnt could easily have killed a player and taken their place. We’re not familiar with everyone, how could we find out? Besides, checking them is pointless; it’s better to go out and find that alien."
Xu Huo turned his head, "You have an idea?"
The other person, around thirty years old, had the maturity honed by life experiences and the vigour that cos with youth. He said frankly, "If Hengxing Group is determined to use the whole train as experint subjects, rather than waiting for death, we’d better take the initiative. Maybe killing that alien will force Hengxing Group to reveal themselves. They can’t keep this track sealed forever with a failed experint, right?"
"As far as I know, there are special devices placed on the track. Within a certain area close to the track, players can move around without issues, but if they go out of this range, the danger is unpredictable," Xu Huo said.
The relatively safe space opened on both sides of the track is primarily for the train’s operation in various environnts. Otherwise, how could such a fragile train pass through different spaces unhard?
"Besides, are you sure there’s only one or maybe just one type of alien out there?"
