Chapter 1772: Chapter 1772: Admitting the Painting’s Authenticity

This public discussion took place in front of the main building of the District Governnt. Aside from the players who arrived one after another, Zheng Shijiu kept his word and cleared the entire square and the surrounding streets for the ordinary people who ca specifically to witness the discussion firsthand.

All the aircraft used for live broadcasting were allowed into the square after a weapons check, recording all the details of the participants from every angle, leaving no blind spots.

To alleviate the resentnt of the general public towards them, the District Governnt did not send more mbers. Since Xu Huo requested a face-to-face talk with Matley Dolei, the main interlocutor was, of course, this forr Chief Governor, who had already stepped down and was also one of the parties involved in the mining accident.

He and the current Chief Governor represent two generations of the District Governnt. In other words, if Matley Dolei ssed up, the current Chief Governor could still manage the situation.

Accompanying them was Zheng Shijiu, seemingly a central heroic figure whose presence suggested to others that he was trustworthy and also represented the governnt.

Before the discussion began, the governnt side redeployed four Rank-A players. They were there to protect both Matley Dolei and Xu Huo, so the two of them stood on opposite sides at a reasonable distance.

Under countless "eyes," governnt workers brought a small table and three chairs.

The three took their seats, with Xu Huo and Matley facing each other, to the right and left, while Zheng Shijiu faced away from the governnt building, keeping a small distance from the other two.

"The more urgent the eting, the less room there is for lengthy chatter. Let’s officially begin." Xu Huo did not ntion the previous conversation, and Matley Dolei, as if eting him for the first ti, nodded to him with the deanor of an elder.

He placed a photograph on the table, "You’ve probably already seen Master Soran’s painting. I’m an outsider, but before seeing the ’Ember Girl,’ I had admired many of the master’s works. I think Master Soran is a forerunner filled with compassion for the world and a sense of mission. Beyond the first twenty years of her life, she spent the next hundred years expressing and awakening the emotions of viewers through her paintings."

"Her success in Zone 019 proves she is on the right path. Before delving into deeper topics, I want to clarify whether the District Governnt acknowledges the authenticity of this painting."

Many people have seen this painting on the Collection of Information Terminal. They’ve even identified the individuals depicted in the painting, including those facing Fragrance and those observed by Xiashi Duolaiti, who were recognized by so elderly folks. They even provided photos and video evidence, along with related stories of the individuals, most of whom are now deceased. So even passed away a century ago, so Xu Huo had no way of eting these people. Thus, there’s no need to see the real painting because these pieces of evidence demonstrate its authenticity.

However, Xu Huo was asking Matley Dolei.

Matley Dolei had recovered the body of his youngest daughter, and Xiashi Duolaiti’s identity could no longer be hidden. He nodded silently, casually taking a paper docunt from Zheng Shijiu and placing it on the table, "The governnt has identified all the people in the painting; nine of their identities remain unconfird, while the other eighty-one are quite clear."

Xu Huo glanced briefly, "This suggests the speculations on the Collection of Information Terminal are true, that they are all related to the mining accident, and so were warned, threatened, and suppressed while pursuing the truth. So even lost their lives, correct?"

"The information currently held by the District Governnt is insufficient to support your conjecture," Matley said. "Between a hundred and thirty to a hundred years ago, the environnt in Zone 019 was incomparable to today. Accidents like car crashes and falling objects claid nurous lives annually. The scenario you describe may exist, but it’s equally possible they t with accidental incidents."

This response didn’t employ any particular tactics, just outlined an objective fact. The "truth" shared by those related on the Collection of Information Terminal might not be entirely reliable. In the absence of evidence, neither the governnt nor other institutions can make any definitive judgnt. When in doubt, ambiguity is permissible.

Xu Huo smiled subtly, choosing not to press further and instead returned to the previous topic, "Since the District Governnt acknowledges the reality of the ’Ember Girl,’ it should understand part of Master Soran’s creative background. Regarding the pursuit of this painting, I couldn’t piece together a complete chain of clues. I hope the governnt can help fill in this part."

"May I ask first?"

After courteously requesting, he directly posed the first question, "Was Master Soran’s father killed like Granny i’s two sons, due to accidentally witnessing the process of fabricating the mining accident or its involved mbers?"

While speaking, he played the holographic record of Pu Hui, who once worked for the Hales Group, confessing. This provided viewers a chance to revisit the evidence. He then continued, "It is believed that Mr. Pu, who has long suffered torture, would be willing to cooperate with the District Governnt’s investigation of the Hales Group. Also, Mr. Pu Hui should still be alive, correct?"

Earlier, when Xu Huo released the Puppet Amber, he made the video public, showing only so obscured segnts. However, the intelligent system in Zone 019, being so advanced, quickly identified the individuals in the videos. Yet, the people were either dead or missing, leaving only a small business owner who spoke nonsense. It’s evident that players from outside the zone are behind this, but now the District Governnt is being blad.

The investigation into the Hales Group has other players involved. Anyone seen by Shen Fei’s group might not survive. Of course, earlier, Xu Huo purposely made public that the Hales Group had a cetery, diverting attention. It’s uncertain if the governnt has acknowledged the cetery now—if so, those dungeon players have little chance of completing it.

"Governnt players are already searching for Mr. Pu’s whereabouts," Matley said, "But it can’t be ruled out that he might have been coerced or spiritually controlled when he spoke."

"That makes sense," Xu Huo nodded. "The young master of the Tian Tian Le Group should still be in Zone 019. Regarding the deaths of Granny i’s descendants, he certainly knows the truth. His opponents are just ordinary people; I’m sure Zone 019’s technology is sufficient to get him to speak the truth."

"I return to my question, what was the cause of Soran’s father’s death?"

"An accident," Matley replied calmly. "He happened to encounter a landslide, and Soran’s father wasn’t the only one buried under the mountain. At the sa ti, 137 workers in the mine were injured or killed. Afterward, the monitoring bureau issued a comprehensive report proving that the landslide was triggered by an earthquake."
