159: Chapter 159 Assassin Player

Tao Chengxin, keeping watch outside, relaxed when he saw them erge and gestured that they should take another direction to leave.

During that ti, the puppet and the shopowner had already changed course.

The trio left the Building Blocks MoMo Shop and found a shaded corner nearby to rest.

Tao Chengxin chased away a prowling wild cat with a frog and imdiately asked Sun Jirou, “Didn’t you say you had a clue?

What clue?”

Sun Jirou wiped her face and downed two bottles of Self-Healing Potion before speaking, “I found a list inside.”

“The owner of the Building Blocks MoMo Shop is an Alien Cannibal Player, and it seems like he is assassinating the elderly in Brick Tale Town Station.”

“Out of the twenty people on the list, only three are left now, one of them is a woman, and she should be the storytelling woman we’re trying to find.”

“Where is she?” Tao Chengxin asked urgently.

Sun Jirou glanced at Xu Huo, “I don’t know, the shop owner is also looking for her.”

After a pause, she turned to Xu Huo and asked, “How co you two suddenly showed up here?”

“Don’t even ntion it,” Tao Chengxin said, “We almost lost our lives at Bear’s Paw Restaurant, luckily, in the end, Brother Xu killed the restaurant’s owner.”

“You killed the restaurant owner?” Sun Jirou asked incredulously, “Isn’t the owner of Bear’s Paw Restaurant an outsider player?”

“Why would you think that?” Xu Huo imdiately asked.

“Inside the Building Blocks MoMo Shop, there’s a contact thod for Bear’s Paw Restaurant, along with Delicious Sausage Shop,” Sun Jirou explained, “Shen Tai and I concluded when we saw it that they must be together, with that female tour guide luring players there to be killed.”

Xu Huo, however, slightly shook his head, “That may not necessarily be the case; it’s more likely soone is using others to commit murder.”

“The list you found should be of the players who survived in the original Brick Tale Town; if the goal of these shop owners is people on the list, then the lower-level players who co here are not so important.”

He said this while glancing at Tao Chengxin, “The player we killed at Bear’s Paw Restaurant wasn’t the owner; he followed

there just like you did, a Level E Cannibal Player.”

At the ntion of the word ‘followed’, Tao Chengxin and Sun Jirou’s expressions beca montarily unnatural, but the latter imdiately said, “You an, the female tour guide’s target is us?”

“Could she be the boss of the instance?” Tao Chengxin asked, puzzled.

Xu Huo pondered for a mont, “It’s also possible that she is our actual mission target.”

“Didn’t you say the storytelling woman should be at least thirty-five?” Tao Chengxin’s voice rose slightly, “That woman is at most in her early twenties!”

“Not necessarily, maybe there is a connection between them,” Sun Jirou said, “Have you found it strange?

Fairy Tale City and the Governnt Hall are completely separate, basically no contact.

It’s said that the Governnt Hall is experinting with Potions against pollution, but in reality, our journey here hasn’t been through polluted areas.

What exactly are they researching?”

“Moreover, there are Alien Players assassinating players from the original Brick Tale Town.

There are no children here, no babies are born.

Could it be the doing of the Governnt Hall?”

Tao Chengxin was sowhat confused and interrupted, “What would be the purpose?

To make Fairy Tale City extinct?

It’s so prosperous here.

I’ve heard people say Fairy Tale City’s tax revenue makes up a large portion of the Governnt Hall’s inco, far exceeding the comrcial output of the polluted areas.

What good does destroying this city do?”

The conversation between the two gave Xu Huo a wake-up call, he suddenly realized that the governnt building was constructed in the polluted area not to conduct secret research or to isolate Fairy Tale City, but possibly because they were unable to enter this place.

If the major pollution event twenty years ago was a false alarm, where did all those Aliens co from?

Considering that Brick Tale Town shrank to one-twentieth of its original size and the outer district forces took over most of the original Fairy Tale City areas, it’s highly likely that the outer district forces facilitated this event.

Brick Tale Town was not devoid of players, but it seed that most of them had died at the onset of this world’s gamification.

To date, there were still players from the outer district killing by the list, focusing on the older ones—what they wanted to extinguish was not Fairy Tale City, but the players of Fairy Tale City!

Locals mostly believed that the pollution event was the cause of Fairy Tale City’s disaster, but from the perspective of the players, they knew that the appearance of Aliens had nothing to do with pollution, but rather with toxins and evolution.

If Fairy Tale City was now being controlled by the original players and had severed ties with the governnt, then for reasons of stance or benefit, there would be those who wished to see the players here vanish completely!

Breeding area…

Xu Huo thought of the Skinning Artisan who specifically supplied materials to the cannibal restaurants.

Different Wormhole Points, different districts, there were Cannibal Players, there was demand, and that’s why there were fresh at factories and breeding areas.

“You…are you alright?” Tao Chengxin asked, seeing his face suddenly turn grim.

Xu Huo composed himself, “It’s almost dawn, let’s go to True Love Plaza.”

“You still want to find that tour guide?” Sun Jirou said, “She tricked us once, she might not show up again.”

Without having seen the person, Xu Huo didn’t say much; he headed straight for True Love Plaza regardless of the other two, who had no choice but to follow.

At the mont, apart from the female tour guide, they had no other clues.

Waiting in True Love Plaza until the dawn lit the sky, as visitors gradually began to appear in the plaza, the girl in the white dress soon showed up.

She was dressed in white attire today, and seed a bit surprised to see Xu Huo.

“Thanks to you, I had a vibrant night last night,” Xu Huo said as he took a drag of his cigarette.

The girl in the white dress pursed her lips and smiled.

With fewer people around, she whispered softly, “You guys are impressive, no players have ever co out alive from those places before.”

“So you really were leading us to our deaths!” Sun Jirou said spitefully, “What on earth are you trying to do?

Are you in league with those Cannibal Players?”

The girl in the white dress shook her head, “Actually, I led you there hoping you would kill those Cannibal Players.”

Xu Huo raised an eyebrow and looked at her skeptically, “You know what our side quest is, drawing low-level players to kill them doesn’t seem very reliable.”

The girl in the white dress smiled, showing no signs of guilt or unease, instead emitting a gentle deanor, “For the sake of Fairy Tale City, every thod must be tried.”

“Enough talk, you must know the old players from before Brick Tale Town, take us to them,” Tao Chengxin pressed closer to her, aiming a frog at her lower back and threatening, “Don’t misbehave, or it can rip your intestines out with one bite!”

“I’m not planning to run away,” the girl in the white dress said, “Don’t be so tense, I have no ill intentions toward you.”

“You have the nerve to say that!” Sun Jirou exclaid angrily, “My friend died trying to save !”

The girl in the white dress glanced at her, “So you had a very good friend then.”

Sun Jirou clenched her fists, but Xu Huo interrupted them, “Let’s not waste ti, we still need to find stuff after the story.”
