Before he could finish his sentence, Ji Yang sent him on the transcendence.

Seeing Shi Chengyu like that made it obvious that he would not answer truthfully. It seed that Ji Yang had misjudged the situation.

After absorbing the Soul Qi released by the rite, Ji Yang turned his gaze to Shi Chenghou’s soul form.

This ti, Ji Yang was more cautious. When he felt he had produced sufficient soul power, he decisively withdrew.

Shi Chenghou’s soul still wore a dazed expression, but it had improved greatly since before the rite.

Chen Changming asked again, "Who are you?"

“I am a mber of the Shi Clan, Shi Chenghou.”

“How many martial practitioners remain in the Shi clan now?”

"Currently, there are—"

After a brief line of questioning, Chen Changming obtained quite a bit of information about the Shi family from the soul.

Before Chen Changming could continue questioning him, the soul in front of Ji Yang began to vanish rapidly, completing its transcendence before his eyes.

Ji Yang watched thoughtfully. His idea hadn’t been wrong, but even an incomplete transcendence caused the soul form to disappear shortly after the technique was used.

Still, the remaining window of opportunity was considerable. From now on, the family would no longer be completely in the dark against hostile forces.

As martial practitioners of the Innate Realm, the two soul forms were still fairly solid, and even the residual Yin Qi left after the transcendence was quite dense.

Ji Yang had Chen Changming absorb those two streams of Yin Qi.

The Shi family had a large number of high-level fighters, so relying solely on a few remnant Innate Realm souls might not be very effective. It would be best if mbers on either side could achieve further breakthroughs.

Ti was short. Even Chen Qingyu, who had reached the highest level, had only recently broken into mid-stage Innate Realm. He was still far from the next level.

Souls, however, were different. So long as the Yin Qi was sufficient, they could make progress in a very short ti.

After absorbing a great deal of Yin Qi, Chen Changming’s soul had beco comparable to that of a late-stage Innate Realm practitioner. With continued cultivation, he might break through again.

However, even after absorbing those two streams of Yin Qi, Chen Changming’s soul form had not reached a qualitative leap. It was clear that he was still lacking sothing.

Most of the remnant souls around Chaotic Burial Mountain had already been transcended by Ji Yang. The soul of the Shi family master who had achieved innate completion hadn't been found. Ji Yang guessed it had long since returned to the Shi family's ancestral hall.

Breaking through in a short ti was not easy, but there would still be opportunities in the coming clan war.

Having learned so of the news, Chen Changming did not linger any longer. He drifted toward Chen Xingzhen’s room. He needed to inform him of what he had just learned so he could be ntally prepared.

“Stop right there! This is the Xie family’s territory!”

At the gate of the Xie family compound in Yong’an City, two guards watched a stranger walk straight toward them, apparently intending to trespass. They imdiately stepped forward to block him.

When the newcor stopped, the guards' faces showed a hint of pride.

The Xie family still had a reputation in Yong’an City, and this was a matter of honor.

Before either of them could speak, they heard a cold, mocking laugh from the stranger ahead.

“Heh, heh, heh. The Xie family? Looks like I found the right place!"

Upon hearing this, the two guards at the gate quickly reacted. They decided that this man had co to cause trouble and were about to raise the alarm to alert the clan.

But before they could, the stranger in front of them waved his arm lightly.

The next mont, the two n were horrified to find that they couldn’t move or speak at all. They could only stand there and watch as the stranger swaggered into the compound.

As he strode in, he ran straight into an elder of the Xie family who was just about to leave.

The elder looked at the man blankly at first, then imdiately grew wary. This person was not of the family, and he gave off an air of hidden depths.

Just as the elder was about to scold the intruder, he accidentally noticed the slightly odd family emblem embroidered on the man’s sleeve.

It was the skull of a ferocious beast with two horns that looked part ram, part tiger. Even rendered in thread and stitch, an extraordinary aura was hidden within.

When the Xie elder saw the emblem, his face turned pale, and he murmured, "The Gongyang family?"

"Oh? You have so insight."

"Since you know who I am, call your Clan Leader out. I have a few questions for him.”

The stranger stopped where he was and spoke calmly, as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

The Xie elder dared not show any displeasure. He bowed respectfully and said, "Please wait, sir. I will go fetch our Clan Leader at once.”

If this had been anyone else—brash and ignorant of their place—the elder would have punished them. But this man was from the Gongyang family. Even if he had a hundred more galls, he would not dare show the slightest sign of resentnt.

It wasn’t long before Xie Yanmiao hurried over. Upon seeing the stranger, she smiled and said, “I am Xie Yanmiao, head of the Xie family. I apologize for the poor reception. Please forgive our lack of hospitality.”

Her tone was humble. After sensing the man's unfathomable aura, a chill ran through her.

Before she could ask his purpose, the man spoke in an indifferent voice: “Three days!”

Puzzled, Xie Yanmiao looked at the man, who continued, “I’ll give your Xie family three days. If you cannot hand over the Zhou family mber, the Xie family will have no reason to exist."

"After three days, I will return. I hope Clan Leader Xie won’t disappoint .”

Xie Yanmiao was stunned for a mont. Before she could respond, however, the man shot up into the sky and left—he didn't even give her a chance to reply.

After a mont, Xie Yanmiao finally ca to her senses.

Beside her, the Xie elder showed his displeasure. "Clan Leader, the Gongyang family is far too overbearing, demanding without even asking! On what basis do they assu the Zhou family mber is in our Xie household? This is outrageous!"

Xie Yanmiao’s face darkened, but she did not reply. Instead, she asked, "Has Yanmo returned yet?"

“Not yet, Clan Leader,” ca the answer.

Xie Yanmiao took a deep breath and said hurriedly, "Tell Yanmo to return to the clan imdiately. Also, summon the clan elders to assemble in the main hall."

“But, Clan Leader, we still haven’t located the Zhou family mber.”

“I told you to go quickly!”

Seeing the Clan Leader’s anger, the Xie elder fell silent, bowed, and hurried off.

Ti passed quickly; the three-day deadline arrived in the blink of an eye.

In Yong'an City, at the Shi family square, many elders had gathered, their faces solemn.
