His overwhelming presence made the other green wolves keenly aware of his strength. With their backing, he had finally ascended as the new Wolf King of the pack. But only he knew the truth—despite the title, he wasn’t even a match for the weakest green wolf among them.

After his coronation, the pack erupted into calls for vengeance. This was his first trial as the Wolf King. He had no idea how powerful the enemy was, but he did know the strength of the previous Wolf King. Compared to that, his own abilities were worlds apart.

Yet now that he was in this position, he had no choice but to follow through. If he refused, challenges would co imdiately. The mont he fought back, his weakness would be exposed.

He wasn’t ready to die, and truth be told, he was starting to enjoy the feeling of being the Wolf King. Enveloped by his pack, he made his way to Chaotic Burial Mountain, standing at its peak.

mories flickered through his mind as he gazed into the distance at the Chen clan’s territory. Tilting his head back, he let out a resounding howl that echoed across the mountains, sending nearby beasts fleeing in fear. Below, the pack scattered into the dense forest.

Only after confirming that the other wolves had left did he retract his aura and cautiously slip over the ridge to the other side of the slope. The grass here was lush, the scent rich and inviting. Before eating, he scanned his surroundings. Once certain no one was watching, he began to feast.

If the others caught him eating grass, his reign would co to an abrupt end.

Ever since he beca the Wolf King, he had lost all interest in at. That troubled him—if this strange change was discovered, he’d be finished.

As he munched, he mulled over his next move. Revenge? Not a chance. He had no intention of letting his short life end prematurely. But the pack wouldn’t let him just ignore it.

"Hmm?"

His chewing slowed, ears twitching as his sharp eyes narrowed. He glanced at the grass in his mouth, a spark of intrigue lighting up in his gaze.

Strawberry flavored?

He resud chewing with renewed enthusiasm, an almost blissful expression crossing his face.

Not far away, perched in the branches of a towering tree, Chen Qingyu observed the scene with a flicker of astonishnt.

He had been sent by his clan to investigate the situation in the mountains. Finding the green wolves had seed like a daunting task, but not long after entering the area, he had heard several howls—one especially powerful. Following the sound, he had arrived in ti to witness everything.

The mont he laid eyes on the large and imposing green wolf, his expression hardened. His instincts told him this wolf was stronger than the previous Innate Wolf King—much stronger. So, he had remained hidden, choosing to observe rather than act rashly.

What he saw, however, defied his expectations.

This wolf was eating grass. Ordinary grass, not so rare spiritual herb.

And that wasn’t the strangest part.

Unlike other green wolves, this one didn’t simply lower its head and eat. It was wary, constantly checking its surroundings with a hint of caution in its eyes.

Chen Qingyu was certain it wasn’t looking for him. Even though he was close, the green wolf hadn’t noticed him at all.

Had it been the previous Innate Wolf King, he would have been discovered by now.

That raised a troubling question: was this wolf truly as strong as it appeared? Its power didn’t seem to match its size.

Rather than reveal himself, Chen Qingyu chose to observe a little longer.

The truth beca clear soon enough.

This wolf genuinely loved eating grass. He wasn’t faking it. The once-thriving patch of greenery was now little more than a trimd lawn.

And after sensing its strength up close, Chen Qingyu realized sothing even more startling—this wolf was absurdly weak.

Its blood and energy were so feeble that, at first, he thought his perception was off. Or perhaps the wolf was deliberately concealing its power.

But no. This wolf was just… useless.

Having confird his suspicions, Chen Qingyu decided to make his move. From the treetop, he leaped down.

The sudden appearance of a figure sent the green wolf into a panic. It spat out the grass in its mouth, eyes widening as it snapped its head toward the intruder.

The mont it saw that the newcor wasn’t one of its own kind, its panic wavered, replaced by a sliver of Wolf King dignity.

Lifting its head, it unleashed its full aura in an attempt to intimidate the human before it.

But nothing happened. The human stood firm, utterly unfazed.

A prickle of unease crept into the green wolf’s chest.

Still, its pride wouldn’t allow it to retreat. With practiced confidence, it straightened its posture and lifted its chin, preparing to summon the pack.

The Wolf King never fought alone.

Just as it was about to howl, Chen Qingyu’s calm voice cut through the tension.

"You wouldn’t want the other wolves to know about your little grass-eating habit, would you?"

The green wolf froze. Its mouth, halfway open, slowly shut. A flicker of panic flashed through its eyes.

This despicable human… was threatening him!

It was the Wolf King!

Under Chen Qingyu’s cool gaze, its eyes darkened. Then, after a brief hesitation, its front paw lifted slightly, and it… bowed, an ingratiating smile creeping onto its face as it assud a pleading posture.

Chen Qingyu’s lips curled into a smirk.

Interesting.

Yet despite all of this, his vitality had declined.

Even worse, his spiritual power had taken a significant hit. The cause? The birth of over ten new clan mbers this past month.
