Guilliman had grown quite intrigued by the Raven Lord's abilities as a shaman. Taking souls and binding them with suits of armor was an amazing application of soul manipulation.

Not only did it allow one to control soul apparitions independently, it lessened the toll on the shaman's soul by granting the soul apparition another source of energy.

Of course, what the Raven Lord could do was much more complicated than that, since the souls seed to have the ability to respawn even though they were connected to an external source.

It was a lot to digest, so he decided to take it one step at a ti.

First, as the holder of the heavy soul, he didn't really need to manage his soul energy expenditure like the Raven Lord, since he had a literal bottomless well.

However, he could use the other thod, which was to bind his soul beasts to an object—or weapon.

It was quite similar to beast echoes; the soul of a creature would be sent into a weapon, allowing the user to gain the abilities of that creature.

Though what Guilliman was trying to do was a bit different in the sense that he would instead be giving the weapons to his soul beasts to wield of their own free will.

He would essentially be arming his soul beasts with weapons and armor he created.

"That's quite far away…" Guilliman smiled bitterly.

He had tried to do this, actually, but had failed miserably several tis. He could only extend the soul's energy into a weapon to grant it abilities; however, giving the soul beast full control of the weapon couldn't be done—yet.

"Anyway," burying his head back into the book in hand, Guilliman fell into a state of concentration… seconds turned to minutes, minutes turned to hours, and before he knew it,

it was nightti.

"Slayer Guilliman, it's nightti. I want to close up shop," soon enough, the attendant ca down to wake Guilliman from his state.

He had spent the rest of the day in the library.

"Ahh, I'll make my way out now… sorry," Guilliman nearly fell on the floor from being startled but eventually drew himself together.

He then grabbed his armor, which had previously been scattered on the table in front of him, and exited the library with a water bottle.

"Hmm, a full moon, huh?" Guilliman smiled.

This was the reason he turned tail and ran the mont he saw the Waning Beast Moon. That walking disaster was at its strongest when the moon was out, and he knew it would be a full moon today.

If he had pushed it and fought against it, he might have beco a corpse.

"Anyway," he turned around and went ho.

The next morning, Guilliman woke up to an empty house; the place had basically been abandoned after the assassination attempt on Thane's life.

"Breakfast," Guilliman announced as he stood up and freshened up.

The cohort mbers were busy around the clock; so, like Victoria, Jemie, and Hamdel, were busy guarding Thane, while he and Barthold went about trying to improve their potential in the Castle.

He went on to make so scrambled eggs from the head-sized egg which he assud slayers got from a beast nest.

Life in the shelter had been made very easy these past few months. Slayers were the elite of human society, after all. It didn't take long for them to raise the standard of living in this long-forgotten place.

"Snorrrrr!!!"

All of a sudden, the sound of a monstrous snore resounded in his ear while he scrambled the egg in front of him.

"Yeah, that reminds ," Guilliman smiled as he walked over to the room, which seed to shake from a monstrous snoring.

"Big guy! Wake up!" Guilliman poked his head into Barthold's room and scread loudly, trying to wake the brute up.

Unfortunately, Barthold was long gone.

Apparently, for so absurd reason, he too was constantly being sent to the dungeons of the castle. He was still new, so it really exhausted him fighting those things over and over again.

"Sigh," Guilliman sighed, then walked up to the scrambled eggs in a pot and brought out a plate he had brought from Blacksteel Shelter.

He had been using this plate for at least 7 months… that's how long he estimated they had been here.

This was long even by gate-clearing standards, but for so reason, reinforcents never ca. It was… discouraging.

Taking his plate along with him, Guilliman climbed up a flight of stairs and settled on the roof of the building. There, he leaned against a railing and watched the city in front of him.

Ravenskeep, even after 200 years, still looked as sophisticated as it had ever been. It was much more pleasing to the eyes than, say, the Blacksteel Shelter.

"Hmm, worthy of an aspiring stronghold," Guilliman remarked.

Just maybe, if not for the ruthlessness of the other strongholds, they might have had a stronghold in Ravenskeep.

At least then, they wouldn't be stuck here trying to kill an abomination-ranked monster.

The downfall of the place was a real sha.

As Guilliman reached into the plate in front of him and grabbed a sizable piece of fried egg, lting it in his mouth as he chewed, he suddenly received a notification.

[Congratulations, Slayer Thane Blacksteel,

You have fought against harrowing beasts and n, and ascended Ravenskeep; there you ca face to face with your destiny and received the legacy of the long-forgotten Raven Lord.

Excellent!

Glory to you, successor of the Black Raven]

Guilliman felt a bolt of shock rush through his body in an instant, and the plate in his hand fell from his grip, barreling down into the streets.

What had he just heard? Soone received the inheritance? And it was none other than Thane?!

Guilliman was beyond shocked; he couldn't wrap his head around it. Did he defeat the Waning Beast Moon? No—wait, maybe he didn't even have to face it. But then… what was Guilliman so unlucky?!
