It's the weekend again, and in the Dragon Gym, Jacob once again serves as the defending trainer. The only difference from last ti is that Jacob has changed from an elite-level defending trainer to a lord-level defending trainer, and his opponents have also beco stronger lord-level trainers.
This change occurred because after the Grovyle evolved and broke through to the Lord level, Jacob, who now possessed a Lord-level Pokémon, automatically beca a Lord-level trainer himself.
The change in trainer level presents a difficult challenge for Jacob's winning streak. In battles against elite trainers, he had three elite Pokémon: Grovyle, Charleon, and Noibat, allowing him to easily defeat his opponents.
But now as a lord-level trainer, he only had a Grovyle that had just entered the lord level, plus his elite-level Charleon and Noibat. Even though his Pokémon had extraordinary talents, the opponents he now faced might all have Pokémon at the peak lord level or even at the quasi-dominant level. It would be quite difficult for Jacob to maintain his winning streak.
He could only try his best. Jacob had already prepared himself for the worst.
...
"Here he cos, Jacob is here."
"Finally! There are many elite players on the field waiting to battle him and break his winning streak."
"Hey, why is he defending at the lord level now?"
...
Last week, news of Jacob's ten consecutive victories spread among elite trainers. Many elite trainers heard that there was such a master in the Dragon Gym who had won ten consecutive victories, and he even defeated Wrenly with a commanding advantage of 3 to 1.
Many trainers were now paying close attention to this strong competitor who had suddenly appeared, and they looked forward to battling Jacob and ending his winning streak.
The trainer circle in the capital was like this. Once soone becos famous and wins many battles in a row, many experts imdiately appear to challenge them. There are only two possible outcos: either you defeat everyone and continue winning, or your streak gets broken.
In the capital, there are very few trainers who can defeat everyone and maintain their streak indefinitely. Maybe only one such trainer appears every ten years. No one was optimistic about Jacob's chances, especially since he had broken through to the lord level.
"His Grovyle must have broken through to the lord level."
"No wonder."
"His winning streak should end now."
...
Many of the onlookers in the crowd were carrying elite-level Pokémon, but they weren't prepared for lord-level battles, so they ca up empty-handed this ti.
In the audience, Kindler and Nina sat together, also watching Jacob closely.
"Jacob is very popular. Many people ca early today just to battle him. But they didn't expect Jacob to have beco a lord-level trainer," Kindler said with a smile. "Junior, do you think Jacob can maintain his undefeated record today?"
"I don't know," Nina looked at Jacob in the training ground and shook her head. In truth, she really hoped that Jacob could maintain his winning streak. She had seen how hard Jacob worked. Hard work deserves rewards. She hoped Jacob could continue his winning streak: "But I hope he can win."
"Really? I don't think he can," Kindler looked confident in his assessnt. "Lord-level trainers are the top echelon of students in the College Cup. There are many real masters among them. So of these young trainers are amazing even to us. Their Lord-level Pokémon are almost at the King level compared to others at the sa tier. I wouldn't be their match at the sa level. Although the strongest group of trainers didn't co today, there are still many powerful Lord-level trainers here. Jacob is no match for them."
"Let's wait and see," Nina said.
...
Jacob stood on the field and soon t his first opponent, a girl wearing a thick down jacket, about 5'3" tall, who looked quite cute.
"In venue number eight, Lord-level trainer Elizabeth will compete against Lord-level defending trainer Jacob. The rules of the match will be chosen by Elizabeth."
"I choose a 1v1 single battle," Elizabeth said. She knew that Jacob currently had only one lord-level Pokémon registered in the gym, his Grovyle, so she didn't try to take advantage by choosing a 2v2 or 3v3 battle.
But even so, anyone with a discerning eye knew that Jacob only had one Lord-level Pokémon, the Grovyle. If soone wanted to target him specifically, Jacob would have a difficult ti.
"The battle begins!" With the referee's signal, both sides sent out their Pokémon.
"Go, Grovyle!" Jacob sent out his trump card while Elizabeth's Pokémon was a Cryogonal.
Cryogonal is a very common Pokémon in snowy mountains and extrely cold regions, but it's quite rare elsewhere. Most importantly, Cryogonal is an uncommon group Pokémon. Although it doesn't have any evolutionary forms, this doesn't diminish its strength.
Elizabeth's Cryogonal was huge in size with a crystal-clear appearance. Its height was slightly less than Elizabeth's, about 4'7
