Chapter 74: Chapter 74: A Thousand Faces
The Divine Grace Continent isn’t very large.
Aside from the Human Kingdom where the hero was born, there’s also the Elf Kingdom, Dwarf Kingdom, and the largest, most powerful Beastman Empire.
The Dwarf Kingdom was the first to encounter the Demon King Army, so it’s already been annihilated, leaving only a few villages and settlents.
"This is the world map."
Chen Ba’s art skills aren’t great, but drawing a rough map is no challenge for him.
On the apple-shaped map, to the west lies the vast Beastman Empire, taking up almost half the Divine Grace Continent.
To the north is Eternal Forest, the location of the Elf Kingdom. To the east is the Human Kingdom Bodun; to the south is the forr Dwarf Kingdom, now the Demon King Realm.
"Although most of the Demon King Army’s strongholds are located in the forr Dwarf Kingdom, that doesn’t an other places are safe."
A black vortex appeared on the PPT, and Chen Ba continued: "This is where the Demon King and his subordinates are troubleso, as they can use the Teleportation Gate to invade any corner of the continent."
This is why, in the story, the hero needs to help the Elf Kingdom and Beastman Empire.
Because with this Teleportation Gate, any location can suffer an invasion by the Demon King Army, and the hero is like a brick, placed wherever he’s needed.
"For town maps, we should make 10 in the early stages."
"The number of NPCs in each map will be determined based on each situation. For instance, small villages and towns won’t have many NPCs living there."
Chen Ba touched his chin and explained: "If it’s a major city like a royal capital, then the map should be bigger, with at least 2,000 NPCs!"
"That many?"
Yang Dong calculated with pen and paper; according to Ba’s plan, the number of NPCs in this ga would reach a terrifying count over ten thousand.
This is still the most conservative estimate.
After all, Ba also said that we should initially make ten town maps, and add more if necessary. With new maps added, the NPC count would beco even more exaggerated.
"Do all these NPCs have dialogues?"
"Yes!"
Chen Ba first affird Yang Dong’s guess and then added: "Not only do they have dialogues, but they also have unique traits, striving for uniqueness."
So are greedy, so are lustful, so are timid and cowardly, so are brave and fearless, so are vain, and so are gentle and kind...
A variety of people with the sa background!
If all NPCs follow the sa template, it wouldn’t be interesting.
Chen Ba hopes that in the RPG Ga "Divine Grace Continent," no identical NPCs can be found, and each one has its uniqueness.
"This is too complex!"
Lu shook his head and said: "Ba, have you thought about how we can create so many unique NPCs just between the few of us? Even if we make them up, it wouldn’t be possible!"
"It’s okay, I have a solution."
"I’ll write a program for automatic NPC generation, and let the program randomly generate them." Chen Ba expressed confidence.
He tested it with the system.
The system ensures quality! The NPC’s automatic generation program created by the system can only be described with one phrase: A cow flying on a plane!
With the system’s help, NPCs can be unique, ensuring every NPC has individual characteristics.
With this premise, "Divine Grace Continent" gains playability.
Heroes traverse the continent, looking for the most fitting partners, and continuously enhance themselves and their partner’s power, ultimately defeating the Demon King, becoming the savior everyone praises!
Since every NPC is different, players need to keep testing to find the right partner. This process is like matchmaking, where you don’t know how many dates it takes to et the right person.
"Players also have unique traits!"
Yang Dong mused: "Every player has different preferences; so might be summoned to the Divine Grace Continent and imdiately choose the King. Others might travel across half the continent and still not find the right person."
"That’s right!"
"This is the Roguelike elent embedded in ’Divine Grace Continent’," nodded Chen Ba.
It emphasizes randomness.
This randomness isn’t only in the ga but greatly varies among players too. NPCs are unique, and players are also unique. Within the limited number of party mbers, how does a hero find suitable teammates?
So people choose to settle.
Even if they don’t like an NPC’s personality, they are too lazy to cultivate others and so settle for this.
So refuse to settle.
If they dislike an NPC, nothing can convince them otherwise; they’d rather venture alone than take an incompatible partner.
You can play however you want!
The ga itself imposes no restrictions, except to say that defeating the Demon King requires at least the hero plus two reliable NPC teammates.
This is the minimum requirent.
Lone rangers cannot defeat the Demon King, no matter how many resources you grind or max out the hero’s attributes and equipnt.
Because the Demon King has a "mark" chanism, and insane attributes.
After discussing these, they moved onto the ga’s professions and equipnt.
There’s not much to say on this part.
The combination of tank, warrior, healer, and mage is well-established. At most, it’s refined into branches, like mages being divided into ice, fire, and lightning techniques.
Mainly, it’s about equipnt!
The equipnt system is quite complex; according to parts, it’s split into six categories: weapons, clothes, gloves, pants, shoes, and accessories.
However, under each major category, there are subcategories, like heavy armor for Holy Knights, magic robes for Mages, or light armor for Assassins, which definitely differ.
Equipnt can enhance lots of the five-dinsional attributes.
The so-called five dinsions refer to endurance, intelligence, agility, precision, and strength, the five basic attributes.
Under these five basic attributes, equipnt also brings secondary attributes like elental resistance, physical resistance, elental damage bonus, stun, taunt, dodge, etc.
The ranking remains the sa.
Common, rare, epic, legendary, divine artifact; you can use the old Western fantasy system without modifying much.
This is the first ti Chen Ba felt that making a ga requires considering many aspects, balancing so much equipnt and special attributes is really challenging.
Fortunately, there are templates for everything.
Profession equipnt and map design have dedicated personnel; he just needs to ensure his so-called "NPC auto-generation program" is well done.
After all, the rest are just embellishnts; a different ga could have them too.
But NPC uniqueness, especially such a large number of NPCs, is sothing not every RPG ga can achieve.
If they succeed in this...
Then even within the large RPG ga category, "Divine Grace Continent" will be one of the best works.
"Hold on!"
Filled with excitent, just about to shout out the system’s add-on points, Chen Ba suddenly thought of a question.
Could the Iron Fool System produce so nonsense again this ti?
It’s notoriously known for that!
Though its technology is truly impressive, it’d be preferable without frequent bugs!
Sotis Chen Ba suspects that his system might be discarded second-hand goods; did he pick up unwanted old boots?
