Chapter 357: Chapter 227: The Seven Great Sects
The developnt of "Cultivation Fantasy" is progressing exceptionally smoothly.
The reason is not just because Chen Ba solved the core difficulties like he had cheats on, but also because there are readily available templates and references for many materials.
No joke...
For Xianxia-thed gas, finding templates and references is really too easy!
A quick search online yields a ton!
For example, Chen Ba now needs to create a "Sword Flight." What does Sword Flight look like? What does a cultivator’s flying sword look like?
No need to rack your brain. Just search online, and you’ll find many similar fan works or secondary creations. Patch them together and use AI to redraw, and a brand new "Sword Flight" is ready.
It’s really very convenient.
Novels, comics, animations, movies, TV dramas, and gas with cultivation and Xianxia thes are extrely widespread; you can find plenty with a quick search.
The prevalence of these works has an advantage.
The advantage is that for most content, you don’t have to think hard to create sothing original. Simply borrowing and stitching together others’ ideas or settings can create a Xianxia ga that satisfies most people.
Chen Ba himself admitted he’s quite shaless, having "stolen" a lot from online cultivation Xianxia novels.
But how should we put this?
For sothing so common, who would you even pursue for copyright? Who knows which ancient book or early novel it should be traced back to!
After all, many settings and ideas in the cultivation Xianxia field were initially proposed by predecessors. Many authors also simply extracted material from ancient texts or mythical legends.
For instance, the adjectives "early stage, middle stage, late stage, and great completion."
Who was the first to propose this setting?
Chen Ba looked for a long ti and still couldn’t find which novel first ca up with the "early Qi Cultivation, middle Qi Cultivation... great completion Qi Cultivation" system.
Just use it as needed.
The shaless Chen Ba adopted the principle of using whatever works well. As long as the setting is widely accepted by players, he’ll try them all.
The "early stage, middle stage, late stage, great completion" is just minor stuff!
He even used the outdated "Academy Auction House" concept, without caring at all about issues of consistency.
"Speaking of which..."
"The Cultivation Realm having academies and auction houses can barely be explained, but isn’t the foot massage a bit too advanced?"
Yang Dong, who ca to observe the ga’s developnt progress, was stunned by the new stuff Ba ca up with.
To be fair.
Academy auction houses, these at least can be seen in novels; even if they feel inconsistent, they’re still acceptable. But putting foot massage in the Cultivation Realm is sowhat unexpected.
Why not add KFC and the Golden Arches as well? And open a KTV and a bar while you’re at it?
When’s the square dancing scheduled?
"Here’s the thing..."
Chen Ba knew himself that this was indeed a bit shocking. But he had his reasons for doing this, not just making a random ss.
"There are many things in the ga that don’t fit the ancient background, or are even obviously inconsistent."
Chen Ba explained, "These things didn’t just appear out of nowhere; they are derived from the Secret Realm Cave Heavens."
The story of "Cultivation Fantasy" mainly happens in the Immortal Spirit Realm.
The Immortal Spirit Realm is vast, and in its expanse, many Secret Realm Cave Heavens are hidden.
These Secret Realm Cave Heavens exist independently from the Immortal Spirit Realm, each being a small world with incomplete laws. Different Secret Realm Cave Heavens may have different environnts and developnt paths.
"Don’t be surprised to see technological products, because so Secret Realm Cave Heavens might very well be a mortal planet on a technological route."
"Cultivators battling cha Warriors?"
"If you insist on thinking that way, I can’t help it. But rest assured, the reason for this setting is mainly to create distinct stylistic dungeon bosses."
Chen Ba explained, "In the Immortal Spirit Realm, there exists the Heavenly Dao, with deities watching three feet above your head! Under such circumstances, it’s difficult to set up various villainous bosses and monsters."
They can’t all be demonic beasts, right?
With evil cultivators or demons in such a cultivation world watched over by the Heavenly Dao, it feels there isn’t much room for expansion.
Therefore, to find opponents for the players and to enrich the ga’s ecological environnt in "Cultivation Fantasy," Chen Ba introduced the Secret Realm Cave Heaven system.
The Secret Realm Cave Heavens, being independent from the Immortal Spirit Realm and small worlds themselves, make it plausible to have vastly different creatures and cultural environnts within them.
"Alright then!"
Yang Dong nodded, considering his acceptance of Ba’s explanation.
However, he still had one question, which was how the main plotline of "Cultivation Fantasy" was constructed and depicted? What story does this ga tell?
"The ga plot..."
Chen Ba rubbed his dry eyes and then introduced, "The character played by the player is an orphan whose sect was exterminated, saved by a passing elder by chance, and brought into a cultivation sect."
The sect is chosen by the player.
The ga has seven major sects, each representing different developnt directions and skill branches.
"War, priest, mage?"
"Not exactly!"
Chen Ba explained, "Our sect’s professional system isn’t the traditional war, priest, mage classification. It’s divided according to auxiliary professions such as Artifact Refining, Alchemy, talismans, Arrays, Beast Taming, Spirit Plants, etc."
In the ga, no matter which sect a player joins, the cultivation techniques they practice and the Secret Techniques they use in battle are the sa.
Want different skills? OK, go and clear dungeons and defeat monsters to get cultivation technique manuals! The sect can only teach you the most basic stuff.
