Chapter 58: Chapter 10: Ascetic Cultivation

The dark gemstone sat on the rough wooden table, radiating a strange, cold luster through the sunlight streaming in from outside the window.

Kor gazed at the crystal in front of him that had brought so many unpredictable things into his life. Without this crystal, he might have perished at the jaws of Magical Beasts or under the lance of a Fallen Knight. Although in ergency situations he could suddenly enhance his instincts and unleash the power granted to him by the crystal to extricate himself from danger, he never truly understood the real aning within the crystal.

He sighed lightly, caressing the Sheepskin Scroll set aside. Perhaps the content on this scroll could help him understand and master the crystal. Regrettably, the cuneiform script on it seed to be the ancient Gu Prad Xi script that he had never seen before.

This was a script from the distant west, near Babylon Herod Island, but it seed to have been erased by history on the Continent. According to his knowledge, no race or nation was still using this script. Finding soone familiar with it would not be easy.

Now, Kor did not have the energy or ti to spare on this matter; there were many more pressing issues before him.

However, Kor was not discouraged. He had discovered the features of the crystal. As long as he kept the crystal on his person, in ergency situations, when his body’s own abilities or Magic power changed dramatically, it would naturally rge with his body, attracted to the Magic power within the crystal.

This sensation had never failed him, creating miracles in several dangerous situations. Therefore, Kor consciously attempted to fuse this power with his own. His performance in front of Hesse was one such successful experint.

Compared to the Magic energy in the crystal, Kor was more interested in the special mory ability contained within it. Each ti he rged the crystal with himself during intense fights, Kor would witness various scenes in his dreams at night. These scenes were definitely ones Kor had never seen or even heard of before.

This convinced Kor that the crystal might have recorded the mories of a powerful individual from a bygone era, preserved in so special form within the crystal, but accidentally obtained by him. If he could fully unravel this, he might gain unforeseen benefits and substantially enhance his abilities.

A week of continuous effort was not without progress; at least Kor had preliminarily understood that there were many things within the crystal that could enhance his capabilities. This included knowledge from mories and fragnts of scenes, as well as the integration and growth of abilities. Slowly, Kor began to recollect what his teacher had taught him.

Many pieces of knowledge that once seed of little significance were connected with the content transmitted by the crystal, forming a more systematic Magic Knowledge System.

Kor knew that a Mage or even a Magician could not be successful without more than ten years of study and cultivation of a Magic Knowledge System. He was just force-fed knowledge by his teacher during three years of exile, unable to truly understand much of it, only preserving it deep within his mory.

Yet at that mont, stimulated by the crystal, these mories suddenly ignited, rging with the many things within the crystal, gradually digesting within Kor’s heart and becoming his own, no longer a temporary exertion of latent potential like during the way down south.

Kor spent one month in seclusion, never stepping a foot outside the wooden house except for als, and only occasionally taking a stroll by the birch grove, never straying more than ten steps from the ho. This caused Puber and the others so concern.

Only on the day Kor left the wooden house did Puber and the others finally feel relieved. From Kor’s sowhat fatigued but increasingly confident deanor, it was evident that Kor seed like a changed man, especially his shiny black eyes, which now had an entrancingly eerie quality. Beyond this, Puber and the others could not pinpoint any other changes in their Boss.

Coming out of his seclusion, Kor felt his mind had beco much more open and expansive. Particularly, the hearty and unrestrained feeling he had before his exile seed to have returned. Even the sky, which was already a deep blue, and the branches swaying in the wind seed to have gained much more vitality. It was a feeling Kor had never experienced before.

Naturally, he did not know that the trendous energy in the crystal had fused with his cultivated magic power, advancing him into a realm entirely different from his past. Everything around beca easier for him to accept and utilize, which in the world of magic is known as the realm of great ease. However, with Kor’s current experience, he had yet to comprehend the true essence of this realm.

In the midst of their surprised gazes, Kor didn’t feel anything amiss, but his sowhat drifting steps made Ilot realize that their boss seed a bit unaccustod to the sunshine and air of the outside world. Perhaps the prolonged darkness and dankness had a temporary effect on the boss’s vision.

Greedily sucking in a breath of air, like a prisoner just released from the basent, Kor suddenly felt that the month he had spent inside the wooden house seed even longer than the three years he’d been in exile. Could this be what the loss of freedom felt like, even when it was oneself using their own will to maintain control?

“Oh, my friends, why are you looking at

with such eyes? Ilot, your gaze is like that of a wolf. Am I a Half-Beastn beauty? Puber, don’t look at

with the eyes of a rchant spotting gold, I don’t even have half a Gold Shield on !”

Kor laughed and joked, “Fran, it seems you’re in good spirits. Hmm, My guards must have made great progress under your and Baoling’s training, right? I hope you won’t disappoint .”

Exchanging a surprised glance with Puber, Ilot felt the reckless and bold boss of the old days had returned, stirring excitent in both of them. Although they were happy with the huge changes in Kor, especially his outstanding magic abilities, their joy was tinged with a hint of worry.

It was that Kor’s personality had beco darker and colder. Every word seed carefully thought out, devoid of emotion. Even soone like Puber, who considered himself quite utilitarian, thought that his boss had outdone him in these aspects.

And now, just from a few words from Kor, they felt the old Kor was back!

As for Fran, he didn’t share their sentint, sensing only so indescribable changes in his Lord’s personality. He seed more cheerful and amiable, and the atmosphere of his words seed much more relaxed.

“Boss, you haven’t had any issues during this ti, right?” Ilot stepped forward with a laugh, thumping Kor with a punch that overflowed with concern, allowing Kor to once again feel the care of a good friend, and Puber’s evident concern ward him just as much.

“Heh heh, what issues could there be? Just being cooped up in that little house, no won, no llow wine, it was dreadfully boring. Ugh, I’ve never tasted this kind of cultivator’s flavor before; I don’t know how those ascetics manage to persevere their entire lives? That’s simply a masochistic self-tornt; rather than that, it would be cleaner just to take one’s own life earlier.”

Kor himself noticed so changes in his mood and personality after erging from his secluded cultivation. He was much more unrestrained in his speech than before, so words spilling out without even passing through his brain, not worrying about potential misunderstandings.

“Haha, the boss wants a woman too, but there’s no such supply here in Ugru Town. That’s your responsibility as the Lord. All these single n stuck in this godforsaken place, not even a female orangutan, only two barmaids in the tavern; no other won. True, there are so won among the adventurers, but they seem to be thorny flowers with owners already, tricky indeed. You had a thousand reminders and warnings for us not to stir up trouble. Everyone is still just moping about this damn farm, hiding their tails. If you don’t co out soon, soone really will die of frustration.”

Ilot swallowed his saliva bitterly, “I wish I had spent more money to buy a female slave in Cyprus. That would’ve been better than nothing, to relieve so urges.”

“Enough, you’re a human, not an animal. Can’t you control yourself? Just look at why we’re here. If you want to indulge, you might as well go back to Cyprus. Who was it that beat their chest and insisted on living and dying with the boss? Now you’re whining about this,” Puber said irritably, cutting off the other.

Angered, Ilot snapped back, “Hey, Puber, what the hell is with you always picking on ? I’m just venting here, when did I say I wanted to go back to Cyprus? If I did I wouldn’t have co!”

“Alright, can’t you two ever keep it quiet? Puber, has anything happened during this ti?” Kor chided the two, stopping their bickering and steering the conversation towards more serious matters.
