“I was so drunk that if I could have managed to walk from the Wan Residence to outside the city gates, that would have been sothing.”
Wan Danrong asked again, “Even then, wouldn’t you have returned to the Wan Residence upon waking up?”

“What do you an the city guards didn’t let you in!” Wan Danrong shook her head and said, “Impossible, I didn’t receive any of your ssages. I searched in the city for days, thinking that maybe you sulked over sothing I said and ran away.”
“What could your words possibly do to upset !” Ye Chen retorted, “Did you bring any silver? I’m still hungry today, I need to eat sothing outside.”
Wan Danrong reached into her bag, nodded, and followed him closely, muttering with bewildernt, “How could sothing like this happen.”
“I wish I knew.”

He hadn’t spoken to Feng Niang for a long ti and he had to figure out what was going on.
Wan Danrong didn’t say anything, but she was deep in thought.

“Don’t tell
you fancy her?”

“No, she is my mother now.”

Ye Chen laughed indifferently and said: “I really don’t care if people laugh at !”
“You! Stop it! She is married and has a family. Don’t make a scene.”
Before he knew it, a whole chicken was in his stomach. After chugging a cup of tea, Ye Chen took a deep breath and said: “This roast chicken restaurant isn’t too bad, we should co here often in the future.”
Wan Danrong said: “You should stop drinking with those servants, who knows what will happen, they might bury you one day.”

Ye Chen ignored her and kept walking.

Ye Chen continued walking back, entering the backyard and returning to his original courtyard. Nothing had changed in the courtyard, the two maids were still there.
The maids couldn’t believe Ye Chen ca back.
Ye Chen laughed and asked: “Have you missed
these past days?”
One maid replied: “The one who missed you is Miss Wan. She would co by every day to see if you’ve returned. She’s almost turned into a stone waiting for her husband.”
