Chapter 573: Chapter 559: Cannot Enter Wanshou City
Having exerted all his strength, Ye Chen yielded no results. It seed he had indeed been kicked out. Ding Yunjie had once before, tried to defeat Wan Danrong and drive him out, most likely because he found Wan’s presence at the Wan Residence botherso.
“Damn, how could he have thought of that?”
The city guards, too, seed as if they were already bribed. The mont they saw him coming, they all moved towards him, not allowing him to go inside under any circumstances. It was maddening. The damn Ding Yunjie had a real knack for causing trouble. Breaking in would be impossible; that would just stir up the whole place leading to a catastrophe. He needed to think of another way, see if he could get soone to tell the folks at the Wan Residence to co and get him. That was his only option.
Looking at the bustling crowd, Ye Chen pondered about how to get a ssage inside.
Wan Danrong woke up. It was already the afternoon and she brought so food to look for Ye Chen.
Within the courtyard, two maids were watering flowers. Wan Danrong asked them, “Hasn’t Ye Chen woken up yet?”
The maids shook their heads in unison.
Wan Danrong called out, “Ye Chen, it’s ti to get up.”
But there was no response. After calling out a few more tis and receiving no reply, she found it strange. She pushed the door open and found that Ye Chen was not in the room. His wine sack was left on the table.
“Has he gotten up?” Wan Danrong turned around, “He’s not in his room.”
One of the maids replied, “I didn’t see him leave this morning.”
“So, where did he go? Did he co back late last night?” Wan Danrong asked again.
“He said he was going to Ah Si’s place to eat dog at. We don’t know what ti he ca back. It should have been in the middle of the night, he often does that.” Another maid replied.
Wan Danrong nodded and said, “This guy, really. Where could he possibly go? He didn’t even bring his wine sack.” In her impression, Ye Chen would never part from his wine sack. Even when he was teaching her martial arts, he was never without wine. It seed almost unbelievable.
“He might have gone out for a walk.”
“Didn’t he have breakfast this morning?”
The maid replied, “No.”
Wan Danrong rushed to Ah Si’s courtyard, and imdiately asked, “How late did you guys drink last night?”
“Till midnight, thereabouts,” Ah Si said.
“And was it you who sent Ye Chen ho?”
“Yeah, he left in the middle of the night. Why?”
Wan Danrong asked another question, “Who was the one who sent Ye Chen back to his room?”
Just then, Ah San ca out and replied, “Last night, I was the one to send him back.”
“Did you personally escort him to his room?”
“Indeed, I was the one who sent him back.” Ah San replied deliberately, “What’s the matter?”
“Ye Chen has disappeared.”
“No way, could he be so drunk that he crawled into so corner and fell asleep?” Ah Si asked.
After hearing this, Ah San said, “Or maybe he left.”
“What? Left? Who told you that?” Wan Danrong asked.
Ah San deliberately said, “He ntioned it while drinking last night. He said he was planning to leave as he had finished teaching the Willow Leaf Sword Technique and there was nothing interesting to do here.”
“Impossible. How could he leave without saying goodbye?” Wan Danrong quickly ran out of the courtyard, whispering to herself. ‘This guy shouldn’t be so petty. Last night, I rely reprimanded him a little. There’s no possibility that he left just like that. That’s definitely not like him.’ According to her understanding of Ye Chen, Ye Chen was not a person to leave without bidding farewell.
Wan Danrong began searching around the courtyard.
However, she looked around the Wan Residence for quite so ti and didn’t find any trace of him. Before she knew it, it was already noon. She found this more and more peculiar. Ye Chen was not the petty sort. There was no way that a few words from her could make him leave. She would never believe it.
She had spent a month with him, and if she still didn’t understand him, she would never have said those things to him.
She mobilized the staff of the residence to search everywhere for him. Indeed, she suspected that he might have fallen into the cesspit because he was drunk last night.
But she ended up disappointed; he was not in the cesspit.
Yi i was also puzzled. She asked, “Could it be that you upset him and he left?”
“Impossible. If after spending over a month together, I still don’t understand his nature and can’t gauge his reactions, it would be a waste,” Wan Danrong replied. She was convinced that Ye Chen would not leave without saying goodbye just because of their conversation yesterday.
“So how do you explain? Did he fall into a cesspit?”
“Don’t make silly jokes.”
Yi i continued, “Last night, you said he had successfully taught you the Willow Leaf Sword Technique in its entirety. Could it be that he felt he had nothing left to teach, and so he left?”
Wan Danrong was lost in thought for a mont but finally shook her head, “I don’t think so. If Ye Chen wanted to leave, he would have told us. It’s not in his nature to leave without notice.”
“Perhaps he feared you would detain him, not allowing him to leave, so he had no choice but to sneak away. It’s entirely possible. You’ve been so warm to him yet refuse to let him leave, would you have let him go if he told you! So, it’s also possible that he left secretly.”
Wan Danrong shook her head and said, “No, if he was really going to walk away like that, he would at least leave a letter. He didn’t even take his wine pouch with him.”
“True, but I think, he should not be in Wan’s residence unless he’s secretly snuck into so maid’s room. Don’t worry, he has only been gone for half a day. Such a big man like him can’t hide forever.”
That’s all Wan Danrong could think of.
“He might be bored in the yard and went out for a stroll.”
“He doesn’t have friends outside.”
“Well, that’s hard to say. You gave him so much silver taels, maybe he’s gone to find so girls and drink.”
“Nonsense, that’s impossible.”
“How do you know!”
Wan Danrong laughed. “For a dead girl, he’s risking everything, drinking himself into a ss. He could never go find soone else to drink with.”
“Well, let’s stop theorizing. We’ve been searching for a long ti, let’s have lunch. Maybe he’ll co back when he’s tired.” Yi i comforted her.
That’s all Wan Danrong could think of.
Wang Dong is thrilled. Having received a big reward from Ding Yunjie, he felt life was much better compared to his days as a rogue.
He went to Yihong Brothel for a drink and was on his way back through the back yard when a random kid bumped into him. Wang nearly lost his balance, visibly drunk, and angrily kicked the kid away.
Continuing towards the back gate, he shouted, “Where did this little beggar co from, is he here to beg?”
A senior guard at the city gate was about to go find Wan Danrong when another guard said, “Yan said Ye Chen is outside the city gate. The city guards won’t let him in. The kid ran into Ye Chen outside the city gate, and Ye Chen asked him to deliver this ssage to Miss.”
Wang Dong was startled after hearing this, and he hastily shouted, “Wait!”– stopping a guard who was about to depart. He asked, “Are you going to tell Miss about this?”
The guard nodded.
Wang Dong hurriedly said, “Don’t go, I will deliver the ssage to Miss.”
Wang Dong still held so status among these guards.
The servant quickly halted.
Wang Dong added, “Don’t worry, I was just about to go see Miss. I will tell Miss the ssage.”
The senior guard retreated.
Wang Dong broke out in a cold sweat muttering, ‘Oh, shit.’ I didn’t expect this drunken bastard to pull a trick like this! If I hadn’t run into him, wouldn’t everything be ruined?
Relieved, he hurried to report this to Ding Yunjie. Ding Yunjie was also quite startled and asked, “You didn’t let him deliver the ssage to Rong’er, did you?”
“Of course not, how could I let him send the ssage to Rong’er.”
“That’s good.” Ding Yunjie sighed in relief.
Wang Dong was a bit more cautious, saying, “This drunkard is not giving up. This ti I encountered and stopped him, preventing him from succeeding. The next ti, he might send soone else to look for Miss, and I might not necessarily run into them.”
Ding Yunjie thought for a mont and nodded, saying, “You’re right. He may not be able to get in, but he may still try to get a ssage to Miss. If Miss knew, she would definitely let him in.”
Wang Dong suggested, “How about this, I’ll send a few n to keep an eye on the doors. If soone cos to find Miss, I’ll get rid of him, and absolutely not let anyone take the ssage to Miss.”
“Good, that’s a good idea, hurry up. I don’t know when this damned drunkard will give up.” Ding Yunjie muttered.
“All right, I’ll do that now. I definitely won’t let anyone tell Miss that the drunkard is outside the city.”
“Damn it, he’s still so persistent.”
“Don’t worry, starve him for two days and he’ll certainly leave.”
That’s all Ding Yunjie could think of.
Ye Chen beca a bit confused. He had already sent soone to tell Wan Danrong that he was outside the city, but no one had co out. Several attempts had not been successful, which made him feel strange. Why would this happen? Wan Danrong couldn’t be so heartless. Sothing must have happened. He felt a bit hesitant.
Could sothing have happened in the city? Unlikely. If sothing had happened, it would have been chaos in Wanshou City by now. All he could do was guess wildly
Unfortunately, the city had tightened its guard and those on watch were highly cautious; it was hard to sneak into the city. Damn it. Ding Yunjie was sowhat impressive, having sent him out of the city just like that. He was at a bit of a loss.
His stomach growled with hunger. Fortunately, he had found so wheat in the wheat field to alleviate the hunger a bit. What a nuisance! How did he end up provoking such a person? It seed like he wouldn’t be able to re-enter the city again.
Ye Chen had been wandering outside the city gate for three days and was sowhat disheartened. After thinking it over, he decided it was not a big deal. Originally, he didn’t plan to stay in the city for long. He just suddenly felt like staying longer. It appeared that his freeloading days were over. He hadn’t even managed to bring his wine pouch with him, which was a pity.
It must be those guards. They must have colluded with Ding Yunjie; otherwise, how could he have been sent away? Well, there was nothing to be said. He was outplayed.
