The three of them did not eat much for breakfast. The food had all been prepared using premium ingredients brimming with life energy, mainly fruits and produce. Feeling the abundant vitality coursing through their bodies, they boarded the dragon carriage and headed straight for the Rising Dragon Platform. The streets near the platform were already packed to the brim.
Other races could only watch the Rising Dragon Competition through live broadcasts. The sole spectacle they were able to witness in person was the scene known as The Thousand Dragons Flight. Just as Huang Yuanlang had said, this was a grand event on Celestial Dragon Planet, held once every ten years, and many races ca to observe the ceremony. At tis like this, the importance of the Dragon Clan Grand Avenue beca evident. Even though both sides of the road were crowded with beings of all races, the avenue itself remained completely unobstructed. The dragon carriage carried the three of them all the way to the end, stopping about a thousand ters from the Rising Dragon Platform. Huang Yuanlang got down with Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu and continued forward on foot.
As they drew closer, the sheer magnificence of the Rising Dragon Platform beca even more apparent. The massive structure stood there like a pillar holding up the heavens, towering into the clouds and emanating an invisible yet awe-inspiring majesty. At this mont, Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu saw all kinds of dragon-type beings gathering in this direction.
The vast majority of them were True Dragons in appearance—large and small, with scales of every imaginable color. Most lacked scales on their lower bellies, marking them as Lower Dragon clans. Interdiate Dragons were fully covered in scales and noticeably larger in size. As for those that were especially enormous and still draconic in form, they were likely Higher Dragons.
Even so, among these dragon beings, the largest were only a little over fifty ters in length. There were no truly colossal ones. This was because only dragons below the god-level were eligible to participate in the Rising Dragon Competition. Lan Xuanyu observed them carefully while committing their appearances to mory. What he truly wanted to understand was what each type of dragon specialized in, and what the different scale colors represented.
For so reason, being surrounded by so many dragon beings caused the dragon core within his body to tremble continuously. It was as though sothing inside him was rising, filling him with an unusual excitent. The higher the tier of the dragon, the more closely it resembled the True Dragons recorded in the historical archives of the Douluo Federation. The Lower Dragons, on the other hand, clearly had impure bloodlines. Many of them still retained characteristics from their original forms before undergoing dragon transformation.
For example, so Lower Dragons resembled giant lizards. Others had no claws at all, dragging long tails behind them, with only an extra pair of wings on their backs. So had thick, powerful legs beneath their bellies, but their body proportions were awkward and unbalanced. Their appearances varied widely. Comparatively speaking, the dragon-blooded creatures Lan Xuanyu and the others had slain earlier actually possessed purer dragon bloodlines.
As he walked, Lan Xuanyu quietly sensed the auras of the nearby dragon beings. He discovered that the more closely a dragon’s body resembled a True Dragon, the stronger and purer its bloodline aura was. The Lower Dragons, by contrast, had much more chaotic auras, though their life energy was still abundant.
From this perspective, Lower Dragons were actually ideal for his companions to use for body-tempering cultivation. After all, during body refinent, they only needed to convert the dragons’ bloodline energy into what suited them. For soone like himself, who already possessed the Dragon God’s bloodline, the higher the tier of the dragon used for dragon-power tempering, the better the effect. The purer the bloodline, the greater the benefit. Dragon-power tempering was the first step in a Dragon Knight’s cultivation and would continue throughout their growth. He couldn’t help but wonder what the later stages of a Dragon Knight’s cultivation would look like.
Even without a mount dragon, the Celestial Dragon Planet’s Head was already a super god-level powerhouse. If he were to add a mount dragon on top of that, just how terrifying would his strength beco? Could he possibly contend with a mothership? And if Uncle Le were to face the Head of Celestial Dragon Planet, what kind of scene would that be?
Feeling the auras of the surrounding dragon beings, Lan Xuanyu couldn’t help but sigh inwardly. There was no denying it—Celestial Dragon Planet’s abundant life energy had enabled the growth of these pseudo-dragons. Not even the Mother Planet, or Senluo Planet, or Elven Planet possessed such a vast population of soul-beast-like creatures. Celestial Dragon Planet was truly a planet so beautiful that one would hate to see it destroyed. If humanity could obtain this planet, it would be a milestone-level developnt for the entire Douluo Federation.
“We’re heading to the front,” Huang Yuanlang suddenly said.
Lan Xuanyu snapped back to his senses and realized that many of the Lower Dragons around them had already stopped moving. They were now standing in an open area in front of the Rising Dragon Platform. The Lower and Interdiate Dragons ahead of them had voluntarily made way. Huang Yuanlang strode forward proudly, with Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu following behind him.
The surrounding dragon beings were also observing them, their eyes filled with respect and envy. More gazes lingered on Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu, so of them unmistakably greedy.
The dragon clan’s sense of aesthetics seed quite similar to that of humans—especially among the Higher Dragons who could transform into human form. The appearance of “two great beauties” visibly excited these dragon beings. The level of attention focused on Lan Xuanyu’s group continued to rise.
The farther forward they went, the larger the dragons beca. By the very front, however, all Lan Xuanyu saw were humanoid Higher Dragons. Within his field of vision alone, there were fifty to sixty Higher Dragons in human form. Behind them, the combined number of dragons of other tiers easily exceeded three thousand. This could be said to represent the overwhelming majority of dragon beings below the god-level.
From the era of dragon transformation until now, several thousand years had passed, yet the dragon population had only increased by a few tis, highlighting their extrely weak reproductive ability. If not for their long lifespans, the dragon race might have gone extinct long ago. This also made it evident that Huang Daoqi was indeed exceptional when it ca to producing offspring—he was likely the Higher Dragon with the most descendants.
Of course, there were still so dragon beings who had not co to participate in the Rising Dragon Competition, including juvenile dragons and those of the imperial family in similar situations. Huang Yuanlang’s younger siblings were not present either. They could no longer be considered juveniles, but their strength was insufficient. For a Higher Dragon, lacking adequate power—or even being inferior to Interdiate or Lower Dragons—ant it was better not to co at all, lest they bring sha upon their family.
Judging from this, the total population of the dragon race likely numbered between five and eight thousand, even when including god-level dragons. This number might not seem large, but one had to rember that even Lower Dragons could grow to the level of Titled Douluo. Interdiate Dragons and above all had the potential to cultivate godhood. The dragon race was truly terrifyingly powerful. The number of god-level dragon experts alone was probably in the hundreds.
Huang Yuanlang led Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu to the very front. They had just co to a stop when a slightly shrill voice sounded from the side.
“Oh? Isn’t this Huang Yuanlang? Where did you find these two great beauties? Aren’t you going to introduce them to ?”
Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu followed the direction of the voice and saw a young man.
His complexion was pale—an unhealthy kind of pallor by human standards. However, his eyes were exceptionally bright, with strange silver patterns flickering across the whites, glowing faintly. His aura seed to appear and disappear unpredictably, to the point that Lan Xuanyu couldn’t gauge its strength at all.
The young man was nearly two ters tall, but his slender build made his proportions look sowhat unbalanced. His arms were long and thin. Standing there with his hands on his hips, his gaze swept openly over Lan Xuanyu and Bai Xiuxiu, his eyes filled with undisguised greed.
