“Understood,” Jiang Man gestured.
“Then there’s nothing else,” Lu Xingzhou said indifferently.
After all, the two had only known each other for a few days and were not familiar with each other, making their interactions sowhat awkward.

Jiang Man was awakened by her alarm clock.
After rushing through her morning routine, she opened her wardrobe and reached for the deepest part of it, fetching a skirt that had been lying there for ages.
She usually loved to wear T-shirts with wide-leg pants.
For formal occasions, she would consider a suit with pants and a blazer.
In any case, she hardly ever wore skirts.
But today she was eting the parents, and the previous evening while she and Wu Yingfan were having hotpot, Wu Yingfan had told her that if she was eting a man’s family, it was probably best to wear a skirt and dress softly and femininely.
Jiang Man rembered the care Lu Xingzhou had shown her over the past few days, so today she wanted to make a good impression on the Lu family and prevent Lu Xingzhou from being embarrassed.

What was happening? Why did he think that Jiang Man looked much more beautiful today than before, so much so that he thought it was because of makeup?
“This outfit is okay to et your family, right? This is the last resort skirt; if this doesn’t work, then I can only wear a T-shirt.”
“Just like this, let’s go,” Lu Xingzhou said, his expression unruffled, yet inside, he was anything but calm.
Jiang Man’s ensemble today—he would give it a full 100 points!
Because she wore a skirt, her legs were less free to move; today’s Jiang Man, whether walking or sitting, was much more poised than before.
She swore she wasn’t doing it on purpose; it was just that wearing the skirt made her feel as if she were under a spell.
The high heels on her feet made her look as gentle as a woman with an eagle’s spirit.
When the car arrived at the Lu Family’s old mansion, quite a few people were already awaiting them at the doorway.
The butler, Uncle Fu, stood expectantly with a group of servants.
Upon seeing Lu Xingzhou’s car approaching, Uncle Fu imdiately started shouting, “They’re here, they’re here! The young master and the young mistress have arrived!”
Jiang Man had been resting with her eyes closed in the car but upon hearing the commotion outside, she lazily opened her eyes.
First thing she saw was a traditional Chinese-style building, with red walls and black tiles, two two-ter-tall stone lions in front of the gate, and the elderly Mrs. Lu leading both the young and old of the Lu Family to greet them.
“Don’t be nervous later on, just follow
and greet everyone,” Lu Xingzhou’s gentle voice ca at that mont.
Jiang Man glanced at him and nodded.
Lu Xingzhou was the perfect gentleman, getting out of the car first and then walking over to Jiang Man’s side to open the door for her.
“Hook your arm with mine later,” he whispered.
Jiang Man frowned slightly, with minor resistance in her heart.
But, considering it was a requirent stipulated in the contract, she reluctantly reached out her hand and hooked onto Lu Xingzhou’s arm.
Lu Xingzhou then led her to the front door and started introducing her to everyone one by one.
The Lu Family was very cordial. Everyone welcod Jiang Man with open arms, and no one looked down on her because of her status.
“Co now, co inside for breakfast.” The elderly Mrs. Lu was overjoyed, her gaze fixed on her grandson and granddaughter-in-law’s linked arms.
They say newlyweds are blissfully sweet, and it certainly looked true!
The couple, despite their quick marriage, seed quite loving.

The dining hall in the old mansion was lively, with the whole family gathered around the round table, the atmosphere very warm.
“Zhou’er, when will you give grandma a great-grandchild?”
“Ah, they are still young, how can it be so soon?”
“Why not soon? Back in our day, we were pregnant within a month of getting married!”
“Hey? Where’s Jingya? Why didn’t she co?”
The family chattered happily, until soone suddenly ntioned the na ‘Jingya’; like an unspoken agreent, everyone suddenly fell silent.
All at once, the dining hall was as quiet as a graveyard.
“Jingya had sothing to do at school,” Mrs. Lu explained with a smile.
“I see.”
Then, everyone began to chat and laugh again.
Jiang Man was not interested in the conversation of the Lu Family mbers and concentrated on eating her al.
Lu Xingzhou, seeing this, occasionally offered to pick so food for her.
After breakfast, Lu Xingzhou was pulled away by several uncles to play chess, while the ladies followed the elderly Mrs. Lu to the back garden to admire the flowers, enjoy the cool breeze, and drink tea.
Jiang Man had no interest in a gathering of gossipy family mbers, so she excused herself to use the restroom and found a quiet place to play gas on her cell phone.
“Sister-in-law, what’s really going on with Jingya? She’s not going to do sothing foolish, is she?”
After finishing her ga, Jiang Man overheard a familiar voice.
Separated by a wall, although she couldn’t see the faces, Jiang Man rembered their voices.
The speaker was Lu Xingzhou’s aunt.
Lu Xingzhou’s second aunt sighed and said, “What can we do? Xingzhou made it very clear that he only sees Jingya as a sister, now and forever.”
