Chapter 93: 94. Was the love deeply rooted back then?
Standing outside the door to Calvin Gordon’s study, Michael Gordon was just about to knock when a low voice ca from inside.
“Co in!”
You could tell that the old man was not in a good mood today!
After hesitating for a mont, Michael Gordon entered the room!
“Do you have a woman you like?”
As Calvin spoke, he raised his head from the desk and took off the glasses from the bridge of his nose, rubbing his slightly aching brows.
“Can’t I co ho if I don’t have a woman I like?”
Michael glanced at his father before sitting down on the sofa across from his desk, feeling uneasy in the stifling atmosphere of the study. Slightly agitated, Michael unbuttoned his shirt.
“Without a woman you like, would you co back to wait for
to force you to marry?” Calvin looked up at him and wiped the glasses in his hand with a cloth. “You’re almost in your thirties, can’t you give
a break? You’re never at ho and don’t have a serious girlfriend. If your mother were alive to see you like this, she’d be heartbroken!”
“Don’t talk to
about my mother!”
At the ntion of his mother, Michael’s entire deanor changed, with a noticeably less gentle look in his eyes as he stared at Calvin. “If my mother were alive, this house wouldn’t be ruled by that woman. Who gave her the right to ddle in my affairs?”
Michael knew the thods of that woman all too well, as she had married into the Gordon family with a child in her belly less than a year after his mother’s death. This was one of the reasons for the rift between father and son.
He knew what that woman was capable of.
And her son, who had long coveted the Gordon family’s fortune!
Recently, that woman had been inquiring about Michael, which led him to believe that Ivy Aretha had been confronted by her. It wasn’t until he caught Yuri Sanders admitting it that Michael finally breathed a sigh of relief!
“Stop talking about ‘that woman’; she is my wife now. No one expects you to call her ‘mom,’ but at least show so respect!”
Calvin’s face looked a bit off, clearly not wanting to argue with his son, so his tone remained relatively gentle, “Just say what you need to. It’s rare for you to co ho, and as I get older, I don’t want to fight with you!”
Upon hearing this, Michael hesitated for a mont, a flash of hope across his handso face before he coughed softly to speak, “Dad, did I have a woman I liked before my accident?”
After saying this, Michael quickly explained, “I an, before I lost my mory, did I have a woman I liked? The kind you disapproved of?”
Clearly, Calvin was hesitant to let him rember the past, particularly his past relationships. On top of that, ever since Michael lost his mory, Calvin had relentlessly arranged blind dates for him! One after another!
Over the years, Michael had seen many neurology specialists and gradually recalled bits and pieces of his life, including so mories of his mother. However, up until now, he had not been able to clearly see the face of the girl dressed in white who resembled a lilac, who kept appearing in his mind.
Initially, he figured that missing a section of his mory wasn’t a big deal, as it didn’t affect his daily life. But ever since eting Ivy Aretha, he had been experiencing a sense of deja vu.
For a mont, he almost thought she and the woman in his mind were the sa person!
Especially knowing that they had a five-year-old child together, he was convinced that they must have had an unforgettable past. As for Ivy’s decision to deny their connection and treat him like a stranger from the start, he was desperate to know the truth!
He could wait.
If he hadn’t known about their child, he could have taken his ti. But now… he couldn’t wait any longer!
Calvin looked at him in surprise, as if he hadn’t expected his son to ask him this question. Ever since Michael’s accident, he had been reluctant to ntion the past!
“Dad, can you tell ? It’s important to
right now!”
Seeing that Calvin simply looked at him without speaking, Michael called out again, “I just want to know the truth, that’s all. Dad, you don’t want
to be like this either, right? Not interested in any of the won around ?”
Admittedly, there was a hint of coercion and threat in Michael’s words!
Calvin sighed before nodding and speaking softly, “You did have a girl you liked, and not just one!”
“What do you an, not just one?”
Hearing this, Michael’s entire body stiffened and his muscles tensed. So he hadn’t been a good man in the past?
He had been juggling two relationships, and that was why Ivy disliked him so much?
Seeing Michael’s anxious expression, Calvin sighed, paused for a mont, sipped his tea, and only continued after fully preparing himself. “When you were younger, you liked a little girl, but I never t her. She was soone you t while traveling with your mother. Later on, the girl’s whole family fell victim to a tragedy, and they died…”
At this point, Calvin suddenly stopped, looking intently at Michael, his gaze probing as he assessed every expression on Michael’s face before deciding whether to continue.
“Dad, please continue, I’m fine!”
Of course, Michael realized the reason Calvin stopped at this point: he was assessing his ability to handle it.
Though the news was shocking, and he could hardly believe that any of this had happened to him, he urged Calvin to continue.
So the woman he loved had died long ago?
And yet, his father said there had been more than one woman he loved?
Could the other one be Ivy?
As the thought crossed his mind, Michael’s heart raced, his voice raised, “Dad, what happened after that?”
“Ahem, you went into a slump for a while, and then your mother passed away. You fell gravely ill twice in a row and only recovered after a few years!”
Calvin glanced sideways at Michael and waited for a mont before continuing, “Later on, I sent you abroad to study, where you t Alya Larson. At that ti, you two had a great relationship. Your Aunt Howard and I were even considering arranging an engagent for the two of you. But sohow, you had an accident abroad and lost your mory!”
“Dad, are you saying that the other person I loved was Alya Larson?”
Inwardly shaken by the news, Michael had expected his father to reveal another woman, like Ivy Aretha!
