Chapter 301: 281、Because I am an actor

When Mario Jensen opened the door, he found Lina Miller standing at the entrance, looking absentminded. He was a little surprised and asked, “Lina, why are you standing here?”

“I…I ca to call you for dinner!”

Lina didn’t know what her mood was like now, but Mario could tell that sothing was off with her at a glance. If she had been standing there for a while, she might have heard him on the phone, and after only hearing half of the conversation, there must have been so misunderstanding.

He had encountered this sort of thing in the TV series his company produced. Being in the entertainnt industry, people can be particularly sensitive about it. Mario Jensen quickly figured it out but did not say anything. He reached out to her shoulder and led her downstairs together.

During dinner, Mario glanced at the woman and beca more certain about his guess. Finally, he said with a smile, “Lina, my mom just called and said she’s coming to see you tomorrow!”

“Oh!”

The woman eating visibly trembled, which spoke to her uneasiness at the mont.

“I refused!” Mario, almost staring at her drooping eyes, said word by word.

“Why?”

Before Mario could answer, Lina’s question followed with tension in her eyes.

When the question was asked, Lina realized that she was being a bit abrupt. What she wanted to say was that she could accept Mario’s mother making things difficult for her. After all, she was an elder, and Lina had been through difficulties before. She didn’t want Mario to hurt his mother for her sake.

She had known long ago that Mario and his mother had a good relationship!

Perhaps truly loving soone ant not wanting them to do anything that would make things difficult for themselves!

Mario’s eyes fell deeply on Lina’s tense little face, and he could imdiately tell that she was nervous. The smile at the corner of his lips deepened: “Nothing much, my mom can be quite nagging. If she cos to see you, you’ll have no freedom. She’ll monitor your every move 24/7, you won’t be allowed to play with your phone or watch TV, and you could only read the newspaper for an hour. The rest of the ti, she’ll probably pester you about your ancestors for several generations and then, mine. So…she’ll drive you crazy!”

Lina: “…”

“Is it really just like that?” Lina raised her big, round eyes and looked at Mario hesitantly, not fully convinced. Wasn’t it because his mother might not like her?

“What else do you want?” Mario Jensen burst out laughing, knowing what her thoughts were, “If you’re not afraid of being driven crazy, I’ll agree to her request and let her take care of you?”

His mother had called all afternoon insisting she co over to take care of their little grandson since Lina has never had a child before and has no experience. Nannies and servants were ultimately just employees, and his mother believes that such care should co from a mother-in-law!

His mother didn’t know what Lina thought, and since their marriage was forced by him, he didn’t want to force her to et his parents too. But if she was willing, he would naturally be delighted. Solving family problems would bring them peace of mind.

“Will your mom dislike ?” Lina didn’t answer Mario’s question, but asked another new one instead. After asking, she beca increasingly tense, her heart pounding as she wondered what his unspoken answer would be.

“Why wouldn’t my mother like you?” Mario looked deeply at her, a smile brimming between his brows. If she was worried about this issue, it ant she had the intention of getting along with him. Otherwise, she wouldn’t care whether his mother liked her or not.

She has never been one to ddle in unrelated matters, nor has she been concerned about them. As a result, she had been quite naive, and sharps in the entertainnt industry had been kept at bay from her. She remained blissfully unaware!

“I’m an actor!”

Over the years, she had a normal person’s low self-esteem about these two words, only keeping them hidden in her heart without ever voicing them. Today, for so reason, they slipped out. Perhaps she had developed an unconscious reliance on Mario Jensen and trusted him enough to know the uneasiness and helplessness in her heart – to the deepest degree!

Such self-esteem-crushing words ca out of her mouth for him to hear!

“Lina, what nonsense are you talking about?” Mario admitted that he was shocked to hear those words from the proud Lina who had never spoken about it before. “Who dares to say you’re just an actor?!”

If he knew she thought of herself like that, he shouldn’t have agreed to let her take this path back then. She was spotted by a talent scout during her junior year, and she excitedly told him that she could act in comrcials and might beco a superstar in the future.

At that ti, he was unwilling for her to enter the entertainnt industry, as her appearance would easily invite attention. And even if she didn’t get into trouble, trouble would find her!

He hadn’t officially taken over Jensen yet, and his instinct was to object to it. However, when he saw her hopeful smile, he decided he should support her decision instead.

As expected, after shooting her first comrcial in her junior year, Lina received nurous film offers and no longer needed his financial support. She started to be self-sufficient, and there was no denying she worked hard.

In the entertainnt industry, few won were as beautiful, talented, and hardworking as her. Thus, she beca a legendary rising actress within just two years.

He thought she enjoyed it, but he was also afraid that following this path would make her drift further away from him. Allure International, a top dia group, extended an olive branch to her, and Michael Gordon personally treated her. He knew what kind of man Michael Gordon was, a nesis for won, and it was natural for young Lina to fall under his spell.

So, after taking over Jensen, he finally made a decision for the company to enter the entertainnt industry. When he asked for Lina’s help at the ti, he was quite worried because she was in high demand, and his new departnt had nothing yet and could even lose money. Thankfully, there was the traditional company backing him up.

What he didn’t expect was that when he told Lina about it, she didn’t even think before agreeing wholeheartedly!
