Chapter 17: Chapter 17 You Sll So Good

He hadn’t had the chance to turn around when his sleeve was tugged with a very slight force.

He thought he had caught it on sothing and looked down.

It was her two fingers, slender and pale, clutching his sleeve; under the warm yellow light, her wrist seed to have a soft filter applied to its delicate skin.

Sheng Xian paused for two seconds and then lifted his gaze.

The girl had her eyes closed, just as she had been when he carried her back all the way, very obedient and quiet, seemingly sleeping quite deeply.

Among girls, she was on the taller side, usually appearing quite imposing, but in reality, she had a delicate fra, light as anything when held in his arms.

Her hair sprawled ssily across a pillow, the neckline of her loose loungewear skewed, revealing a clear, snow-white, and slender collarbone.

Sheng Xian looked down at her for a while, then bent over to pull up the corner of the blanket, covering her entire neck.

He straightened up, about to forcefully pull his sleeve out of her grip when the sleeping girl suddenly spoke, “Brother.”

Sheng Xian lifted his eyelids.

eting his gaze, Lu Jingyan slowly opened his eyes, “I said I would take you ho next ti.”

The girl’s eyes were clear, without a hint of drunkenness.

Sheng Xian looked down at her from above for a mont, realizing he had been tricked.

Her acting was quite good.

He had just thrown the can, estimating at least eight empty bottles in the bin.

Not only was her acting good, but her alcohol tolerance was also impressive.

Sheng Xian fell silent for two seconds, then with a hard jerk, freed his sleeve from her grip and turned to walk towards the door.

Before he had taken two steps, the bedroom door was pushed open, and Aunt Sun ca in with a cup of honey water, “Miss Lu, I’ve made you so honey water.”

Lu Jingyan hated sweet stuff like this at night, “I won’t drink it.”

Aunt Sun said, “You have to get up early for work tomorrow; it’ll be uncomfortable if you don’t drink.”

“Still not drinking it,” Lu Jingyan rolled over, wrapping herself in the blanket, and buried her face in the pillow.

Aunt Sun was just a housekeeper, and if Lu Jingyan refused to drink, she wouldn’t insist. After trying to persuade her a few tis and seeing Lu Jingyan remain obstinate, she took the honey water and left.

Sheng Xian, who was at the door, glanced back.

Perhaps it was because the bed was too big, but the curled-up girl seed very small.

The house was spacious, three stories high, and the hallways were very quiet. Except for her room, all other rooms had their lights off and were unoccupied.

Aunt Sun was well-mannered. She closed the door for Lu Jingyan and, smiling at Sheng Xian, bent slightly before heading to the stairs.

Sheng Xian took a couple of steps to follow her, “Give it to .”

Aunt Sun turned, puzzled.

Before she could speak, Sheng Xian took the cup from her hand, “I’ll take it to her.”

Sheng Xian knocked twice on the door before turning the lock and entering.

This was his second visit to the room that evening. Just like the first ti, out of politeness, he did not look around a girl’s bedroom but walked straight to the bedside and placed the honey water on the nightstand.

Thinking it was Aunt Sun, the girl buried in the blanket turned over in annoyance, “I said I don’t want to drink.”

She acted as childishly as a kid resisting dicine from an adult.

Sheng Xian, with drooping eyelids, finished appreciating her tantrum, “I drank it.”

The person inside the blanket stiffened for a few seconds, then the blanket was flung open, and she sat up with her legs crossed, “Why haven’t you left?”

The woman, who had been rolling on the bed, now had her hair in even more of a disarray, with a few strands sliding along her neckline into her clothes.

Sheng Xian turned away, then hurried off as if escaping soone, ignoring her question, “Quickly drink it.”

Lu Jingyan looked up at Sheng Xian with a straight gaze, “I don’t want to.”

From her angle looking up at him, many people couldn’t withstand such an intimidating view, but he was different, with a clear jawline, a long neck, and the prominent Adam’s apple vaguely visible at the opening of his shirt.

Sheng Xian was too lazy to speak anymore, tapped the cup, and signaled her to stop dawdling.

Lu Jingyan, acting like a primary school student, “No, no, I just don’t want to.”

Whether Sheng Xian was in a hurry to leave or annoyed by her petulance, his tone grew a bit heavier, “Drink it!”

Lu Jingyan stared at Sheng Xian without moving.

No one had ever dared to be so fierce with her before.

He was the first.

As she was pondering whether to retort or to strike back, Sheng Xian, who had been looking down at her for a while, saw that she made no move, bent down to pick up the honey water, stirred it twice with a spoon, and offered it to her, “Be good.”

Perhaps he was trying to suppress his impatience, but his voice was deliberately low, coming across as sowhat gentle in the quiet night.

The thoughts swirling through Lu Jingyan’s head instantly vanished without a trace.

She looked up without saying a word.

He held the cup, uncompromising.

The two of them confronted each other for quite a while until Lu Jingyan’s gaze fell on the cup, and after watching it for so ti, she for the first ti in her life conceded to soone, took the cup, and obediently drank the honey water clean.

The mont she finished, he snatched the cup away, as if he couldn’t wait to disappear from her sight, and walked briskly toward the door.

Lu Jingyan watched his retreating figure and pouted. Just as he was opening the door, she called out to him, “Sheng Xian.”

They had only known each other for a few days, and she had never called him by his na.

She had been smooth with her incessant “brother” calling, not knowing the slightest sha.

This was the first ti she called out his na.

Sheng Xian paused, then turned around.

Lu Jingyan got out of bed, ran over to him barefoot without putting on shoes.

Sheng Xian glanced down at her bare feet and frowned imperceptibly.

This girl really didn’t take good care of herself.

Wearing thin pajamas, drinking on the streets in the middle of the night, he hadn’t seen her many tis, but each ti she was smoking. Three o’clock in the morning, not sleeping, instead sending him ssages…

Sheng Xian truly felt her actions had nothing to do with him, yet inexplicably, he was a little annoyed by his own ddling.

He struggled within himself for a while and moved his gaze from her feet to her face.

… “Put on your shoes.”

Before he could say the words, she leaned forward, grabbed the front of his shirt, and sniffed around him like a small dog.

Before he could understand what she was sniffing for, she suddenly raised her head and blurted out, “Brother, has anyone ever told you that you sll really nice?”
