Chapter 1: Chapter 1: First Encounter with the Past_1

The rain falls steadily during the Qingming season, eting under a sky held in divine favor.

Ah, this is a not so bad of a season.

Perhaps.

At this ti, it’s midnight.

The rainwater slaps against leaves, making a pitter-patter sound. The rhythmical noise strikes the ears of everyone, intensifying the irritability that already reigns in their hearts.

“Damn it!” The curse echoes, laden with frustration. “Xigua, are you sure there is a doctor here?” As far as he can see, this place is desolate, scarcely populated. Apart from trees, there is nothing but the continuous drizzle, the sound of which is nothing but irritating.

Of course, the unknown danger also prevents them from lowering their guard.

“Actually, I’m not quite sure.” The man nad Xigua instinctively patted his head, only feeling the wetness of rainwater. He shook his hand lightly, sighing, “I just heard rumors. They say a Poison Doctor resides in this Black Forest. He loves playing with poison, but his dical skills are astonishing. If you have the ability to find him and if he’s in a good mood, he can save soone from the brink of death and snatch him from the hands of King Yama.” A pity, no one has ever seen him in person, no one knows his appearance; height, weight, beauty or ugliness. Even those who have seen him never ntion his true face, but only praise his unmatched dical skills.

So far, only a handful of people have seen the mysterious doctor.

“Rumors, are you sure they are true?” Their situation leaves no room for further delay.

“The rumors are certainly true, a friend of mine experienced it in person; but I can’t guarantee that we… are truly able to find him.” Also, whether the doctor would be in a good mood when they find him.

Everything is uncertain at this mont.

In this kind of weather, such a dark state of affairs, even if they can endure, their team leader…

Subconsciously, they turn to look at their leader, currently being supported by their comrades, worry, evident in their eyes.

They are all soaked at this ti, including their team leader. But if they can’t find a doctor soon, the thought of their team leader’s wound makes their anxiety surge further.

The leader’s wound can’t be delayed any longer.

The crimson liquid slowly falls with the rainwater, seeping into the muddy ground, eventually becoming the most nutritious fertilizer for the forest trees.

They themselves know so simple bandaging and treatnt thods, but they’ve run out of wound dicine and antibiotics. After such a long struggle and the rainwater infiltrating the wound, the leader’s wound has already started to infla. Blood oozes from the wound, unable to be stopped.

If this continues, they really don’t know how much longer the team leader can stay conscious.

This is the most dire situation they, the Ying Sun, have ever experienced. There is nothing useful around them.

Ying Sun, broadly referring to ferocious birds, symbolizing fierceness or bravery, just like their rcenary group “Ying Sun”. Their reputation alone is enough to force enemies into fear and defeat without a fight.

But now, there is no ti for such talk!

Despite the rising frustration, they do not harbor thoughts of giving up. Today, no matter what, they need to find the so-called Poison Doctor to treat their leader’s wound.

Because they have no choice. They must not give up!

“Team leader, hold on, you can’t faint.” Black Shark, seemingly preoccupied, turned his head to look behind and comforted the team leader, although, this might be pointless.

Black Shark, is the previously ntioned impatient guy; normally, he could stay calm, but whenever it ca to issues related to his comrades or his Captain, he found it quite hard to maintain his poise.

Hearing this, the man who was slightly lowering his head, slowly raised it. His eyes, akin to cold water, revealed a barely visible born pride and dominance. Under the feeble light of a flashlight, his obsidian-like dark eyes twinkled still. Alas, those eyes, apart from endless indifference, exuded no other warmth.

His face is pale, his lips devoid of any color, but that doesn’t affect the sharp, like-cut-by-a-knife facial features. Being battered by rainwater, it seems to have lost a bit of his usual firmness. His camouflage military uniform, soaked by the rain, still looked perfect, not in the slightest bit haggard.
