Chapter 413: 399, He and I Fall into the Lake at the Sa Ti (2)_1
If it weren’t for the vein throbbing dramatically on his forehead, one might have mistaken him for being in a calm state of mind.
With a bang, he seed to hear the unleashed power within his body, like a beast erging from its chains.
Damn that Quan Jingwu!
He had been played by that brat so blatantly, was his anxiety amusing?
That bastard.
Every ti he thought about how Quan Jingwu had seen him in such a nervous and frustrated state, Mo Xiao felt an overwhelming urge to throttle soone.
Sensing the storm brewing within him, Jian Qing shifted further away.
Eventually, Quan Jingwu erged from the kitchen.
As soon as he approached, he was t with a decidedly unfriendly gaze.
He sat down beside Jian Qing, looking straight up into Mo Xiao’s fiery eyes.
A faint smile spread across his face, his innocent expression eliciting an angry foot tap from Mo Xiao.
“Darling, I got soone to find so good tea for us, we can bring it to Grandpa this ti.” Quan Jingwu dried his hands and instinctively reached for hers.
Jian Qing said, “No need, there’s still a lot of tea from last ti you brought for Grandpa.”
“It’s okay, we haven’t been back for so long, we should bring so gifts for Grandpa.” Quan Jingwu’s deep-aning tone lingered in the air, a swift glance swept over Mo Xiao without leaving a trace.
Mo Xiao glared back at him defiantly, while secretly began to consider what gift to prepare for the old man.
No way, it’s his first ti eting the father-in-law, he must prepare thoroughly.
He stood up and said, “Qingqing, I have to go ahead for so work.”
“Okay.” Jian Qing had a vague idea of what he was up to and smiled, nodding her head.
Before leaving, Mo Xiao cast a aningful grunt at Quan Jingwu.
We’ll see, the future is long.
Only after the front gate closed did Jian Qing turn to the person beside her.
“Dad, tell
exactly how you angered my father, hmm?”
With no more light bulbs around, Quan Jingwu casually pulled her into his arms.
He raised an eyebrow and responded lightly, “I didn’t do anything.”
Jian Qing snorted, “I don’t believe that.”
Quan Jingwu lightly pinched her chin, a wicked smile spread across his face, “Who’s more important, him or , hmm?”
Jian Qing was rendered speechless.
She pushed away his hand, shot him a glare, “I refuse to respond to such childish questions.”
“Then let
ask another question.” Quan Jingwu quickly changed the subject, jokingly asking, “If both of us fell into a lake, would you save
or him?”
Expecting him to ask sothing different, Jian Qing was taken aback by this age-old, clichéd question, a drop of sweat rolled down her forehead.
How was this question any different from the last one?
Equally childish.
Oh, wait, there was a slight difference.
Yes, it was even more childish.
“I wouldn’t save either of you.” She responded in annoyance and added her reason, “The water in the lake is too cold, I feel cold.”
Quan Jingwu burst into laughter, running his hand through her hair.
Jian Qing pursed her lips, was it really that funny?
…
Gossip and rumors always spread the fastest, out of nowhere, the news of the father-daughter relationship between Jian Qing and An Zhe swept through Beijing.
Even more ludicrous were the various versions about the relationship between An Zhe and Jian Qing’s mother, the rumors were so abundant the An family dared not step outside their door.
Paparazzi reporters sward the entrance of the old An family mansion, ready to surround anyone who dared to leave.
“Look at the predicant we’re in, we can’t even step outside our own ho.” Zhou Qi wandered around the living room, complaining incessantly with a gloomy expression.
“It’s all because of that damned girl, Jian Qing. Before she appeared, everything was peaceful.”
“Enough, can you talk less?” An Zhonghui rebuked.
Zhou Qi frowned but eventually fell silent.
As An Zhonghui surveyed the room, he noticed that An Chong was missing and asked Zhao Xuan, “Where is Achong?”
“I’m not sure either, he hasn’t been back ho these couple days.” Zhao Xuan responded calmly.
Hearing this, An Zhonghui’s face darkened, “Call him and tell him to return ho.”
Zhao Xuan responded, “Understood.”
“For the next few days, don’t go out, let’s wait until this passes.” An Zhonghui advised.
An Yu, Yang Xiang and a few others exchanged glances, despite their reluctance, they had no choice but to comply.
“Understood.”
An Zhonghui sighed, got up from his chair and headed upstairs.
Instead of going to his room, he went to old Mr. An’s study room.
“Dad!”
An Zhonghui walked in, softly calling out to old Mr. An who was engrossed in his book.
Old Mr. An seemingly ignored his presence, his eyes glued to the book before him.
Feeling dismissed, An Zhonghui sat across from him.
“Dad you haven’t joined us for als for several days.”
Ever since Mo Xiao left the house, old Mr. An had been cooped up on this floor, not once stepping downstairs.
After a long mont, old Mr. An put down his book and looked at him.
“You rember that I am your father?”
“Dad, you…” An Zhonghui choked on his words, unsure of what to say next.
Unable to find a suitable response, he changed the topic instead.
“Dad, the news about Azhe and Jian Qing’s relationship has spread outside.”
“I know,” old Mr. An replied.
“Dad, since you know, then…..”
Before he could finish, old Mr. An interrupted him, his face stern.
“Only Jian Qing and A Zhe can resolve this issue. Nobody else is allowed to interfere. If I find out anyone does, don’t bla
for throwing you out.”
An Zhonghui said, “Dad, but Azhe is refusing to see us now.”
Old Mr. An replied, “It’s your fault for treating Jian Qing the way you did. If you had all been nicer to her, A Zhe wouldn’t be treating you like this.”
“Dad, I didn’t an to target Jian Qing, but her character is too domineering, too stubborn.”
“Enough! You all better look inward and reflect on yourselves.”
An Zhonghui quietly listened to old Mr. An’s reprimands, not daring to rebuke a single word.
…
The night descended, lights flickered in the darkness.
Han Yue and Quan Mingxuan made an unexpected visit, earning a flinty glare from Quan Jingwu.
On the dinner table, a hot pot, with soup furiously boiling within.
Han Yue was sweating profusely under the heat, so much so that he took off his coat and was left in his thin shirt.
He caught sight of Jian Qing across him, who remained completely composed, causing his eye to twitch.
This creature was definitely not human.
“Han Yue, I have a favor to ask of you.” Jian Qing took a sip of her juice, speaking slowly.
Han Yue put down his chopsticks, staring at her in shock.
“Yo, you actually need my help, such a rare occasion.”
Annoyed by his strange tone and manner, Quan Jingwu grabbed a pair of chopsticks from the table and threw them at him.
Sensing danger, Han Yue caught the chopsticks before they hit the side of his face.
He dropped the chopsticks, took a deep breath and said through gritted teeth.
“Jingwu, there’s sothing I’ve always wanted to tell you… I’ve had nothing but bad luck since I t you.”
Jian Qing barely managed to contain her laughter at hearing his words.
What was he playing at?
Was he confessing his feelings?
Quan Jingwu shot him a look, “Speak English.”
Han Yue cleared his throat, “Ever since I t you, I’ve been very, very unlucky.”
If it weren’t for his quick reflexes, he’d be suffering at the hands of Jingwu every mont.
Having such a ruinous friend, how could he not be unlucky?
