Chapter 385: 371. Father-in-law equals light bulb (2)_1
Suddenly, he looked up at Jian Qing, his eyes filled with agony. “A week or so later, Weiwei suddenly told
she had sothing to take care of at ho. She gave
a pocket watch and said that when she ca back to , she would give
the photo inside.”
If he knew that this would be the last ti he saw her, he wouldn’t let her go, no matter what.
Jian Qing t his gaze and asked the question that had been weighing on her heart, “So to find my mother, you abandoned everything in China and went to M Country, where you beca Mo Xiao?”
“Yeah.” Mo Xiao nodded.
Back then, he was already a colonel who was often given assignnts and could not easily go looking for soone. However, nothing could be more important to him than his Weiwei. Therefore, he simply gave up everything, causing his family to be upset with him for a long ti.
Sowhat softened by his story, Jian Qing revealed quietly, “Back then when my mother had sothing to take care of, she told Grandpa she would give them a surprise after dealing with it. It must have been about letting my grandfather know about your existence.”
At her words, Mo Xiao was stunned.
Jian Qing shifted her gaze to the scattered liquor bottles on the ground.
“Stop drinking.”
Her cold voice, unlike its earlier icy tone, was tinged with subtle concern.
To her unexpected words, Mo Xiao was dazed in surprise, a glimr shone in his icy eyes.
Was she caring for him?
“Alright,” he replied, his voice trembling slightly.
Jian Qing stood up, and Mo Xiao quickly stood up with her.
Anxiety flitted across his eyes; he wanted to stop her but didn’t dare to speak clearly, scared of causing her disgust.
Upon reaching the door with her, Jian Qing opened it. Ning Feng and Xing Sen were relieved when they saw Mo Xiao.
Great, it seems that Jian Qing was more convincing.
Their Master was finally willing to co out.
“All taken care of, huh?” Quan Jingwu glanced at Mo Xiao and amiably ruffled Jian Qing’s hair.
Jian Qing’s lips curled up, “Yeah.”
Mo Xiao watched the hand that was holding his daughter’s with envy.
He hadn’t hugged his daughter, hadn’t held her hand, and now another man was taking his place. Just thinking about it made him unhappy.
Feeling the displeased gaze from the side, Quan Jingwu’s thin lips curved in a slight smirk.
“Let’s go.”
Hearing these words, Mo Xiao’s gaze towards Quan Jingwu beca even more hostile.
Noticing Mo Xiao’s conflicted expression, Ning Feng smoothly suggested, “Miss Jian Qing, it’s getting late. Would you two like to dine together tonight?”
As he spoke, Mo Xiao eagerly looked at Jian Qing, his hands clenched anxiously.
Jian Qing turned to look at him and said, “No, we should get going.”
At her words, Mo Xiao’s eyes darkened and he hung his head.
The next second, her words rescued him from despair.
“Tomorrow.”
Mo Xiao shot up, his face full of excitent.
Ning Feng and Xing Sen exchanged glances and laughed.
Personally seeing off Jian Qing at the front door, Mo Xiao watched her leave reluctantly.
Jian Qing stopped and turned around to glance at Ning Feng and Xing Sen. Then she looked at him, “Stop drinking, and rember to eat.”
Ning Feng and Xing Sen silently gave Jian Qing an approving nod.
Mo Xiao grinned, finally showing a long-missed smile.
“Alright.”
Quan Jingwu glanced at him, a dark shadow flitting across his deep purple eyes.
This man who was very likely to be his father-in-law, could he be about to beco a third wheel in his relationship with his darling?
Watching as they left until he could no longer see Jian Qing’s figure, then Mo Xiao finally shut the door.
“Master, perhaps you should freshen up?” Ning Feng suggested.
Looking down at his clothes, Mo Xiao instantly rembered sothing, his dissatisfaction imdiately directed towards Ning Feng and Xing Sen.
“When Jian Qing ca, why didn’t you two tell
in advance?”
He hadn’t changed his clothes since returning from the old mansion. He had finally t his daughter, but his appearance was ruined.
“…”
Ning Feng and Xing Sen were wordless with a bitter taste in their mouths.
Was it their fault?
Pleasing people was really tough!
Mo Xiao snorted lightly, turned, and went upstairs.
“Master, shall we prepare dinner now?” Xing Sen asked as he stared after Mo Xiao’s receding figure.
“Didn’t you hear what Qingqing just said?” Mo Xiao replied without looking back.
Watching the man disappearing into the staircase, Ning Feng and Xing Sen couldn’t help but chuckle.
The girl hasn’t even officially acknowledged her father, and yet calling her so intimately, is that alright?
Back in the room, Mo Xiao stood beside the bed and picked up a photo.
He gazed softly at the woman in the picture, his eyes filled with deep affection.
“Weiwei, after I earn our daughter’s forgiveness, I will co to be with you. Until then, please wait for , okay?”
The deep voice echoed softly, carrying a chill that was skin-deep.
The glow of the dim street lamps casting soft shadows.
Two figures, one tall and one short, walking harmoniously in the gentle light.
“Jingwu, I am feeling sowhat sympathetic towards him.” After eting Mo Xiao, she found she really couldn’t be as heartless towards him as she was towards the rest of the An Family.
Maybe it was the blood connection between father and daughter at play, or perhaps because he was also an innocent victim in this matter.
However, she felt softer towards him.
Quan Jingwu held her hand, and stuffed it into his coat pocket. He grinned, “Just like tonight, if you want to co, we’ll co. Follow your heart and don’t force yourself.”
Upon hearing his words, Jian Qing’s eyes brightened. “Okay.”
Halfway there, she suddenly stopped in her tracks.
Quan Jingwu looked back, a flicker of confusion passing over his cold face.
She took her hand back, stretching both hands towards him, “Don’t want to walk anymore.”
With a chuckle, Quan Jingwu knowingly turned around. “Get on.”
Her red lips curved into a smile, her hands wrapped around his neck.
Imdiately after, she quickly pecked his cheek with her head sideways.
Quan Jingwu gave a low chuckle, then carried her all the way ho.
…
The next day
When Jian Qing woke up, it was already late into the afternoon.
Thinking about how a certain soone went off gleefully to work this morning fills her with frustration.
She was sitting on the couch, looking at Snowball not too far away, who still had at on his plate.
“Snowball, co here.”
After swallowing the last piece of at, Snowball happily scampered over to her.
Jian Qing bent down and absently stroked its head.
“Snowball, Jingwu was too awful. Tonight when he cos ho, you should bite him a couple of tis, got it?”
“Woof-”
Snowball shook his head quite intelligently.
The master seems too ferocious.
He didn’t dare to.
What if his teeth get chipped and he can’t eat at? That would be bad.
Jian Qing even felt more amused.
“You munch on snacks for nothing.”
Suddenly, her phone vibrated.
She picked it up and saw that it was Quan Yifei.
Without thinking much, she answered, and Quan Yifei’s enthusiastic voice ca through, “Jian Qing, I’m off today. Shall we go out for a stroll?”
Working at JK International, getting a holiday was a rare luxury. Today, her ti-off was thanks to her brother’s orders for her to accompany his wife for so relaxation.
