Chapter 1092: Shanshan Side Story (19)

“Calling

stinky Mu Chen for not coming to see you?”

Mu Chen propped himself up and sat up, a faint smile in his eyes, “Why are you here?”

“I’m here for sumr camp, and I ran into Del on the street, so I nagged him to take

to see you,” Shanshan proclaid proudly.

A few years had passed, and his little lady had grown even prettier.

Even though he could receive her photos every year, they couldn’t compare to the warmth of her in person.

Mu Chen gazed at her covetously, raised his hand to ruffle the top of her hair, just as he had done so long ago, “Did you sneak out to have fun?”

Sumr camps are usually supervised by teachers; this little gal must have sneaked out on her own.

“Who says that? I ca out to play fair and square.” Shanshan held onto his arm and blinked, “You won’t be able to shrug

off this ti.”

Mu Chen glanced at the small hand on his arm and his lips curved into a pleased smile, “Have you eaten yet?”

Shanshan replied, “Not yet, I’m so hungry.”

“What do you want to eat?”

“Anything’s fine, I’m not picky,” Shanshan, the little lady, seed very easy to satisfy, which amused Mu Chen greatly.

“Del, let’s go to that usual restaurant.”

Del acknowledged, and looked back at the smiling pair in the rear seat, his mood brightening along with theirs.

“Mu Chen, is that your house?” Shanshan, finally seeing Mu Chen, never lost the smile on her face.

“No,” Mu Chen replied flatly.

“Then where is your house?” Shanshan asked.

Mu Chen teasingly prolonged the suspense, “Want to know?”

“Mhm, mhm.” Shanshan’s eyes glittered like stars as she gazed at him, knowing if she found out where he lived, she could visit him often.

“I won’t tell you for now,” laughed Mu Chen.

“Stinky Mu Chen, you miser,” Shanshan complained with a hint of grievance, yet her hand still clung to his arm.

“If I’m so bad, why are you still holding onto my hand?” Mu Chen teased.

“If I let go and you run away, what then?” huffed Shanshan.

Mu Chen couldn’t help but laugh and shake his head, “What are you thinking about?”

“Of course, about you.” The words ca out without hesitation, leaving Mu Chen stunned, her naive smile filling his gaze.

“Mu Chen, why are you zoning out?” Shanshan waved her hand in front of him, and he snapped back to reality, the amusent in his eyes deepening.

“It’s nothing.”

During the ride, Shanshan kept telling him about the interesting things happening at her school, and from ti to ti, she badgered Mu Chen to share his recent affairs too.

Mu Chen’s life consisted of nothing but study; coming up with a few amusing stories was actually quite challenging.

In the end, Shanshan had to conclude, rather disappointedly, that he led a truly dull life.

Arriving at the restaurant, Mu Chen was the first to get out of the car, and Shanshan bounced out after him.

“Mu Chen, you’re so tall, so much taller than .” They had both been sitting in the car earlier, and Shanshan hadn’t noticed the difference in their height, but now standing on the ground together, she barely reached his shoulder.

The significant gap in their height made Shanshan quite despondent.

Mu Chen gently tapped her on the head, “Silly girl, I’m a guy and a few years older than you, isn’t it normal for

to be taller?”

Shanshan pouted, “Still, that’s way too tall.”

To keep her from dwelling on this too much, Mu Chen cleverly changed the subject, “The food at this restaurant is pretty good; you should like it.”

“Then what are we waiting for? Let’s go.” Shanshan pulled on his hand and stepped briskly into the restaurant, her stomach practically singing a song of emptiness.

The restaurant wasn’t crowded, and the soothing piano music echoed around them.

The food was served quickly, and Shanshan ate her steak with a face full of joy, responsible only for eating while Mu Chen took over the task of cutting.

“Eat slowly, no one’s competing with you.”

Shanshan raised her head, her rosy lips stained with a bit of grease, looking every bit the contented little fox that had just had its fill.

“Mu Chen, I’ll be staying here for a week for the sumr camp. Let’s go out and play tomorrow, okay?”

This sumr camp was definitely the right choice.

Mu Chen tucked the smile at the corner of his mouth away, “Shanshan, I have classes tomorrow.”

“Do you really have to attend class?” Shanshan’s appetite vanished in an instant.

Mu Chen clenched his knife and fork, grunting an affirmation.

“When will you be free then?” Shanshan didn’t lose heart and continued to ask.

Mu Chen saw the expectation on her face and didn’t know how to answer.

He had classes every day; unless he was sick and couldn’t get up, a break from class was out of the question. If he missed class for no reason, the person at the Main Mansion would surely beco suspicious. If it ca to that, and the investigation led to Shanshan, causing trouble for her, that was definitely not sothing he wanted to see happen.

“You don’t have any free ti?” Shanshan set down her knife and fork, asking in a muted voice.

Mu Chen, “I’m sorry, Shanshan.”

Shanshan’s eyes drooped as she picked up the napkin and wiped her mouth, “I’m full. I’m going back now.”

With those words, she stood up and swiftly walked away.

The faster she walked, the sooner she broke into a jog.

“Shanshan.”

Mu Chen panicked; he could no longer maintain his usual composure.

Del stood at the door, his face showing confusion as he saw Shanshan run out, and a second later, Mu Chen followed in pursuit.

He quickly stepped forward to try to stop Shanshan, blocking the doorway.

“Miss Shanshan, what’s the matter?”

“I’m going back.” She brushed past Del, hurried down the steps, and then hailed a taxi, ignoring Mu Chen’s calls and getting straight into the vehicle.

By the ti Mu Chen ca chasing out, the car had just started and was driving away.

“Shanshan!”

The car left a trail of dust behind, disappearing around the corner in no ti.

Mu Chen stood still, his gaze fixed on the direction where the car had vanished.

Shanshan, are you angry with ?

“Young Master.”

Del approached and softly consoled, “Don’t worry, Miss Shanshan is just throwing a bit of a tantrum. She’ll probably forget about it when she wakes up.”

Mu Chen shook his head; no, his girl was genuinely angry this ti.

Angry with him…

“Young Master, perhaps I should find out which hotel Miss Shanshan is staying at, so you can go and explain to her,” Del suggested.

Mu Chen withdrew his gaze, “Let’s go, we’re heading back.”

He had no right to seek her out until he beca truly strong. He couldn’t protect her well, but at the very least, he shouldn’t bring trouble to her.

Del sighed softly, “Yes.”

What was supposed to be a happy al had ended in an unpleasant parting.

When she got back to the hotel, the room was empty. Shanshan took a bath and then lay on the bed.

As if their hearts were in sync, just as she picked up her phone, Quan Jingwu’s call ca through.

“Daddy!”

On the other end of the phone, Quan Jingwu sat on the couch with Jian Qing curled in his arms, “Shanshan, what did you do today? How co you didn’t call back ho?”

“I was too sleepy after getting off the plane, took a nap, then took a few strolls outside. I was just about to call my beloved daddy and mommy when you guys called.”

“After a few strolls, you must’ve enjoyed quite a lot of delicious food, right?” Jian Qing teased.
