Chapter 90: Chapter 78: Dark Realm 6

Bai Xiong and his team continued to advance…

“An entrance to another world?”

This phrase kept popping up in everyone’s mind.

They had their deep doubts about this claim, but didn’t overly indulge in speculation. After listening to Chen Xiao’s verbose explanation, they felt that even if they tried, they might not understand. In the end, it was just the guess of a lunatic, and their job was to quickly find that “specific location” and complete the mission.

It is worth ntioning that Chen Xiao had beco much quieter, obediently following behind the team because he had found another “interesting” thing, in his opinion.

That was, he unbuckled the indicator from his wrist and plugged it into a lump of minced flesh. He then stared at it intently, much like the foolish son next door watching two crickets fight, his eyes glued to it, occasionally giving a sly chuckle.

Wang Billy, who was closest to Chen Xiao, was annoyed by the sounds he was making.

“Hey… why do you keep ‘heh heh heh’-ing? What on earth are you trying to do?” he asked with an exasperated expression.

“Still green…” Chen Xiao replied.

Wang Billy looked at the indicator light stuck in the minced flesh with a pained expression on his face: “Ah… so what?”

Chen Xiao chuckled without answering, his face full of anticipation, as if talking to himself, he asked, “So, what exactly is this detector detecting?”

anwhile, at the other end of the abandoned factory, five Foundation field agents in radiation suits finally made their way cautiously to the edge of the factory.

Here, the light seed to be very scattered, as if the surrounding landscape was enveloped in black fog.

The one at the front didn’t hesitate to turn on the flashlight on his shoulder. But the beam of light seed twisted by sothing, giving the feeling of looking through the steam of boiling water.

“What’s so weird about this place?” the person frowned and said.

“I feel a bit uncomfortable…” another person whispered, wanting to rub his head, but was blocked by the mask of the protective suit, so he could only slap it in annoyance.

The other four imdiately cast cautious glances at him after hearing this, and one of them even raised his gun.

“Hey, hey… what’s the fuss? I just said I’m a bit dizzy from the light!” he quickly realized what he had said and hurriedly explained: “You all have seen it, the light here seems sowhat distorted.”

The one with the flashlight frowned and said in a deep voice, “Let

see your wrist!”

The man shrugged helplessly: “Alright… alright… you’re all scared silly.”

He said this and slowly stretched out his wrist, covertly glancing at it first and seeing the green light before he was reassured.

“There… look… The lot of you are so suspicious!” he said indignantly as he placed his arm in everyone’s line of sight, almost with a hint of boastfulness: “Besides, if I saw it turning red, I’d definitely tell you to shoot

on the spot. I don’t know what those disgusting things are, but I don’t want to end up like that.”

He spoke with righteousness.

The other four, seeing the green indicator light, also felt a bit relieved.

“We’re just worried about you…” another person said, and waved his hand, indicating there was no issue to stop for.

The one with the flashlight felt the vibration at his shoulder increase, much stronger than before.

“Everyone be careful, in this damned place, the closer we are to that specific spot, the weirder it’ll get!”

With that, he turned and continued moving forward.

The others also turned on their powerful flashlights and imdiately fell into formation to keep up.

But at that mont, the pace of the person walking at the rear seed to slow down for a second.

This person had been quiet for so ti now, hardly speaking, but he was always reticent, so no one noticed anything unusual about him.

He took several deep breaths as if hesitating about sothing, then, gritting his teeth, he hurried to catch up with the team.

In the distance, within a ssy alleyway leading to the factory complex.

“Sloppy Uncle” walked in front, gun in hand.

The lighting here started to gradually dim, and the four behind him turned on the flashlights on their shoulders.

But Sloppy Uncle didn’t. After receiving two injections of the “Auditory Nerve Enhancent Serum,” his eardrums had beco extrely sensitive. The thick auditory nerves and the strong blood supply enabled him to clearly distinguish all sound frequencies within 7 kHz and instantaneously capture the distance of the sound source, determine its position, and even conduct simple sonar imaging of surrounding objects when concentrating.

At that mont, with no visual distractions, his range of perception was even greater than under well-lit conditions.

So, suddenly, he stopped and reached for his shoulder, his five fingers spread out and then clenching into a fist in an instant.

The rest of the team jolted, not knowing what had happened, but their strong combat training ant they didn’t ponder, almost instinctively they turned around, guns raised, and without a shred of hesitation, went into combat readiness, forming a defensive circle with their backs to each other, slowly rotating.

“5!” he called out sharply, a number rolling off his tongue.

Without the slightest hesitation, as soon as the number was uttered, one of the team mbers fired in a directed burst.

The specially modified gun barrel didn’t make much noise, the bullets pinging against the walls “pitter-patter,” sparking as they struck.

In the flickering half-light, a shadowy figure of indeterminate size “whooshed” into the shadows.

“Fast!” the shooter exclaid.

Almost simultaneously, sothing in another shadow twitched inappropriately, very inconspicuously, like a squirrel in the dense canopy of trees lightly touching a slender branch—difficult to detect.

However, “Sloppy Uncle” still caught that faint noise with sharp acuity.

“Danger!”

In that instant, the unease in his heart magnified several-fold. Those who had hovered on the brink of death had an indescribable premonition of its approach.

He didn’t say anything; there was no ti. His waist muscles tensed instantly, his legs bent, shoulders sunk, and a burst of energy from his muscles turned him into a blur as he charged at a teammate who hadn’t reacted yet.

A barely audible “whoosh” passed by his ear, followed by a slightly searing gust of air that gently brushed his cheek, leaving a faint, unsettling moisture across his face.

The next second, he had tackled the teammate.

What he saw, however, was that the man’s head had already been penetrated by a tentacle as thick as a chopstick, with white and gray brain matter mixed with blood splashing onto his own face.

(Looks like another fight is coming up, and I really don’t like writing fight scenes. Also~ I’ve decided to design the radiation suits a bit more sturdily, preferably with so bulletproof features, uh~ maybe that’s too high-tech. Whatever, finally, I wish all the single dogs a Happy New Year, and those who aren’t single? You’re happy enough, what more do you want! Lalalala, sticking out tongue~)
