Chapter 47: Chapter 47 Hurting Her is Hurting

“Mr. Zhou, a good horse doesn’t return to graze on the sa patch of grass, and neither do I.”

Qiao En left, and her departure was resolute.

Zhou Jin’an’s face darkened instantly.

He swung his fist and punched the elevator wall hard.

He couldn’t keep her.

He had said everything he could, done everything he could, but that stubborn woman simply refused to stay.

On the first floor, Cheng Lu waited respectfully by the elevator.

Three elevators, going up and down, yet Zhou Jin’an was nowhere to be seen.

After a long wait, he finally ca down.

Cheng Lu barely noticed Zhou Jin’an’s grim expression because since Qiao En had left, his face had been constantly cloaked in gloom, to which Cheng Lu had almost beco accustod.

However, he noticed Zhou Jin’an’s right hand.

The knuckles were all skinned, and blood was seeping out.

“Director Zhou, your hand.”

Cheng Lu gasped.

Zhou Jin’an had punched a bit too hard, but at that mont, he seed oblivious to the pain.

“Director Zhou, your hand needs to be bandaged. Let’s go to the ergency room.”

Cheng Lu followed and kindly suggested.

“No need.”

Zhou Jin’an squeezed out two cold words through his teeth.

The wound on his hand would heal on its own, while the gash in his heart continued to bleed profusely.

After leaving the hospital, Zhou Jin’an went back to Chu Garden, where he locked himself in his study.

Cheng Lu was worried, but he was a man who didn’t know how to comfort Zhou Jin’an.

Leaving Chu Garden, he impulsively drove back to the hospital.

“Secretary Qiao.”

When Cheng Lu appeared, Qiao En was dozing off, resting her chin on one hand by her father’s bedside.

He stood at the doorway and called out anxiously to Qiao En.

Qiao En, a light sleeper, woke up quickly.

She stepped quickly out of the ward, following Cheng Lu to the fire escape.

“Did you need sothing?” Qiao En asked.

Cheng Lu wasn’t one to pry, but seeing Zhou Jin’an like this, he also felt unbearably distressed.

“Director Zhou has injured his hand.”

After a long pause, Cheng Lu said just that.

“Assistant Cheng, if Director Zhou has injured his hand, you should be looking for a doctor,”

Qiao En said flatly, even managing a slight smile.

“He refuses and has been shutting himself in his study.”

Cheng Lu added.

He rembered how attentive and caring Qiao En was towards Zhou Jin’an; she would get nervous at even a cough from him.

But now, she seed indifferent to Zhou Jin’an’s matters.

Qiao En’s eyes darkened slightly, and as she lifted her eyelids again, she smiled and said, “Assistant Cheng, I have already resigned from Nanchen, so these matters no longer concern . Is there anything else? If not, I need to get back.”

After saying that, she walked past Cheng Lu intending to leave.

Cheng Lu was a straightforward man, not much for understanding romantic nuances.

Yet Qiao En’s completely indifferent attitude enraged him.

He grabbed Qiao En’s arm, defending Zhou Jin’an, “Qiao En, Director Zhou truly cares for you, don’t be ungrateful.”

Qiao En t Cheng Lu’s gaze, appearing fragile but with a strong glint in her eyes.

“You are not , how do you know whether I am ungrateful?”

She forcefully freed herself from Cheng Lu’s grasp.

Cheng Lu was stunned for a long while, his emotions in turmoil, and here he faced rejection from Qiao En.

“Bang!”

In frustration, he too punched a wall.

The following morning.

Cheng Lu drove Zhou Jin’an to the company.

He sat in the driver’s seat, sporting two large dark circles under his eyes.

Last night, in a mont of impulsiveness, he had smashed the wall, and his hand hurt so much in the wee hours he couldn’t sleep at all. Co morning, his right hand had swelled up like a bun.

Jin’an had also slept poorly, the dark circles under his eyes particularly noticeable.

He reached out to pull the door, revealing his right hand, which had swollen like a bun.

“Director Zhou, let

take you to the hospital.”

Cheng Lu hurried out of the car, opening the door for Jin’an using his left hand, as Jin’an imdiately noticed his swollen right hand.

Both n had injured the sa hand, and they had swollen in a similar way.

“What happened to your hand?”

Jin’an asked coldly.

Cheng Lu looked uncomfortable, lying, “I accidentally bumped it.”

No sooner had he finished speaking than the car door slamd against his right hand with a “snap.”

He grimaced in pain.

“Let’s go to the hospital.”

Jin’an took a seat in the back.

Half an hour later, the two of them showed up at the hospital.

They registered together, went for a CT scan together, and luckily, there was no serious damage, just so cuts that needed anti-inflammatory treatnt.

“How strange that both of you got hurt in the sa place and to the sa extent. Did you both get these injuries from fighting?”

The pretty nurse, while applying dicine to both n, sneakily glanced at Jin’an and Cheng Lu, taking the chance to gossip a bit.

Cheng Lu was tall and sturdy, the type of robust man who appeared extraordinarily rough, giving off a strong sense of security.

Jin’an had a lean and tall figure, typifying the cool and domineering CEO, with an innate nobility and a strong sense of mystery about him, fatally alluring to won.

Jin’an ignored her completely, while Cheng Lu was visibly embarrassed, not knowing how to respond, and he chuckled awkwardly.

After bandaging up, the two left the hospital. Just as they reached the main entrance, they suddenly ran into Kexin.

She carried a silver insulated jar, walking towards them unsteadily.

“Jin’an, how did you hurt your hand?”

Kexin noticed Jin’an’s bandaged right hand imdiately and was shocked.

“Assistant Cheng, what happened here?”

She hadn’t noticed that Cheng Lu’s right hand was also injured.

“Er…”

Cheng Lu didn’t know what to say and turned his gaze towards Jin’an.

Jin’an, with a cold face, said, “It’s nothing.”

He didn’t even want to bother placating her.

Kexin’s eyes imdiately reddened. “Jin’an, I just wanted to show so concern for you. This makes

very sad.”

“This makes

very cold-hearted.”

Jin’an’s eyes were intense, his words laden with hidden aning as he coldly stared at Kexin.

“What did I do?”

Kexin covered her mouth halfway, as if possessed by Dou E.

“You’re overreaching, be careful the losses outweigh the gains.”

Jin’an’s words were not very explicit, but the aning was quite clear.

“Jin’an, do you have so misunderstanding of ? I really didn’t do anything, believe , I love you deeply, I would never do anything to hurt you.”

She stepped forward, attempting to grab Jin’an’s arm.

He recoiled as if touched by a plague and pushed Kexin away abruptly.

She fell to the ground as if boneless, the silver jar rolling away, and soup spilled out.

“Hurting her ans hurting . Kexin, I want to make it clear once again, who I, Jin’an, like has nothing to do with you. Stop being overly sentintal, stop harming the innocent, otherwise—”

Otherwise, would he have to be rude to her?

What does “being rude” entail?

Kexin, tears welling up, looked at Jin’an. She was the precious daughter of the An family, yet he showed no pity.

For such an unworthy woman, he had actually pushed her down to the ground in public!

She had given so much, humbled and lowered herself, yet he turned a blind eye!

Kexin’s heart ached painfully.

But more than that, she felt an unwillingness to accept this.

“I didn’t, I really didn’t hurt her, I didn’t do anything…”

She shook her head, tears streaming, continuing her act.
