Chapter 100: Chapter 100 Ex-Girlfriend
That day, the dia of Rong City was frantically busy.
The two young masters of the Zhou family headlined the front page of dia reports.
“Bizarre Will: Zhou Jin’an Forced to Step Down as Nanchen CEO!”
“Double Happiness for Zhou’s Second Young Master, Inherits Nanchen CEO Position and Becos a New Dad!”
“Zhou’s Titans Compete, Battling Dads and Even More Competitive Moms.”
…
Qiao En had just arrived at the Ding Family’s ho when these news stories broke, and since she hadn’t looked at her phone, she was unaware.
Ding Hao led Qiao En into the house with a bunch of gifts he’d prepared in advance in his hands.
“Mom and Dad, I’ve brought En’en back,” Ding Hao called out excitedly at the entrance.
Mrs. Ding rose to her feet, greeting them with a beaming smile on her face.
“Hello, Auntie,” Qiao En greeted proactively.
Mrs. Ding responded with enthusiasm, slapping Ding Hao on the arm with delight.
“My dear son, this is your last girlfriend, right? The girl is a bit skinny, you know. If you want to have a son, you’ll need to fatten her up a bit.”
It was their first eting, and Mrs. Ding’s unfiltered speech left Qiao En feeling sowhat embarrassed.
With a stern face, Ding Hao scolded his mother, “Mom, you’re scaring En’en. How can you say I’ve had many girlfriends? I only have En’en, and she’s not my girlfriend anymore, she’s my fiancée. We’re getting married next week.”
In front of his mother, Ding Hao wrapped his arm around Qiao En’s shoulder.
Qiao En maintained a faint smile, while Mrs. Ding bead with happiness.
“En’en, my son may indeed be flirty and unreliable, but he really likes kids. If you marry him, you should hurry up and have several. Once there are kids, he won’t have ti to fool around outside.”
“Mom, do you even realize what you’re saying?”
Ding Hao was anxious, protectively leading Qiao En towards the second floor.
“En’en, don’t listen to my mom’s nonsense, I’m faithful and dependable. Let
show you my childhood photos.”
Fearing that Mrs. Ding would spill all his shaful secrets, Ding Hao firmly dragged Qiao En away.
The Ding Family’s house was styled with an air of classic elegance. The decor was understated but emitted a sense of luxury throughout.
Going to the second floor with Ding Hao, Qiao En saw him excitedly bringing all his photo albums to her.
“Pretty cool, huh?”
As Qiao En flipped through the albums, he patiently explained each one.
“This is you?”
Qiao En pointed at a photo of Ding Hao from kindergarten.
“You’re smart!”
Ding Hao confird instantly.
Qiao En’s finger traced the photo, her gaze drifting to the next one.
Suddenly, she seed to spot a familiar figure.
It was a snapshot of Ding Hao joining the Young Pioneers; he wasn’t the only one in the photo, but he was the only one with a wide smile.
But Qiao En’s attention was imdiately drawn to the sullen child in the middle of the group. He stood the straightest, yet his face lacked any hint of happiness.
Qiao En recognized him. It was Zhou Jin’an.
Ding Hao had been classmates with Zhou Jin’an since elentary school. If Ding Hao was in a photo, Zhou Jin’an was always there too.
As Qiao En slowly turned the pages, without exception, Ding Hao was always grinning carefreely while Zhou Jin’an was forever stoic and morose.
The last group photo was their high school graduation picture. Zhou Jin’an was standing one person away from Ding Hao, his expression as constant as ever.
Looking at them, Qiao En couldn’t quite describe how she felt.
If she could travel through ti, she’d want to give that lonely Zhou Jin’an a hug.
“Guess who this person is?”
Ding Hao suddenly leaned in, pointing at the girl standing between him and Zhou Jin’an.
Qiao En scrutinized for a mont, but she didn’t recognize her.
“I don’t know her.”
“You don’t know her? You don’t even recognize her?” Ding Hao exclaid in shock, but quickly explained, “It’s understandable, though. She started getting plastic surgery right after high school. Of course, you don’t recognize her now. She is An Kexin.”
Qiao En gasped in surprise, because the girl in the photo was quite ordinary-looking, nothing like the An Kexin of today.
In the photo, while everyone else looked at the cara, only she was sneakily casting her gaze at Zhou Jin’an.
“She liked him back then?”
Qiao En couldn’t help asking.
Ding Hao seed unwilling to dwell on the topic. He casually lay back on the bed, arms under his head, a sneer crossing his face as he said, “Who knows whether it was real affection or not?”
Mrs. Ding’s voice echoed from downstairs again, “Lunch is ready, co down.”
Ding Hao went ahead of Qiao En down the stairs, where a lavish seafood lunch was already prepared.
“Hello, Uncle,” Zhou Jin’an said as he saw Qiao En greet Ding’s father who had just returned from the company.
Ding’s father, with his white hair, raised his eyes to glance at Qiao En and rely nodded slightly.
“Let’s eat.”
After speaking, he took the head seat for himself.
Just as Qiao En and Ding Hao had settled down, the doorbell rang again.
A servant went to open the door, and in ca Ding Hao’s oldest and second sisters.
“The traffic was terrible, why set lunchti for the al? Dinner would have been so much better.”
The speaker was Ding Hao’s second sister, Ding Ruyi, who changed into slippers at the entranceway and made a beeline for the dining table.
“This is my second sister.”
Ding Hao introduced her, prompting Qiao En to stand up and greet Ding Ruyi.
“Hello, second sister.”
Ding Ruyi let out a cold snort through her nostrils, “Stop calling
that; we’re not family yet since you’re not married.”
It was clear she didn’t like Qiao En.
Under the table, Ding Hao patted Qiao En’s hand in an attempt to comfort her.
Qiao En had heard from Ding Hao beforehand that his second sister was quite domineering, so she endured it.
Ding Hao’s oldest sister entered while on a phone call and now approached the dining table.
“Sis, this is my fiancée Qiao En, just call her En’en.”
Ding Hao introduced her.
“Hello, big sister.”
Ding Ruxin was taken aback for a mont. She seed friendly as her eyes quickly swept over Qiao En before she extended a hand, “Hello, Qiao En, you can call
Ruxin, welco to our ho.”
Ding Ruxin was polite and asured in her welco.
Qiao En was no fool; everyone seated at the table belonged to the Ding Family, and their behavior, whether cold or warm, unanimously reflected a lack of approval for her relationship with Ding Hao.
Considering it was all an act, Qiao En didn’t take it to heart.
Qiao En shook hands with Ding Ruxin, and before she could sit down, Ding Ruyi puckered her lips and started to complain again.
“Are you guys done yet? The seafood is getting cold, and it won’t be good to eat if we wait any longer.”
“Don’t you always eat the most every ti?” Ding Hao shot Ding Ruyi a glance.
“Mind your own business! If you’re so capable, then you shouldn’t eat!” retorted Ding Ruyi vehently.
“I’ll eat, not only will I eat, I’ll make sure En’en and big sister eat plenty too.”
While Ding Hao bantered with Ding Ruyi, he began peeling shrimp for Qiao En.
Ding Ruxin kept her head down, sipping her soup in small mouthfuls. She seed accustod to her brother and sister squabbling, occasionally intervening with what seed like neutrality, but actually siding with Ding Ruyi.
Ding’s mother was busy instructing the servants to serve the dishes, and Ding’s father sat in the chief’s seat in silence, failing to stop the three children as they bickered.
“Ugh~”
After eating a shrimp peeled by Ding Hao, the strong fishy taste overwheld Qiao En. As soon as she swallowed it, a wave of nausea surged up.
She quickly covered her mouth and dashed for the washroom.
“Sis, is Qiao En pregnant?” Ding Ruxin asked.
“Big sis, what nonsense are you talking about? Didn’t you know if our brother is capable?” Ding Ruyi debunked.
“Who are you saying isn’t capable? The child En’en is carrying is mine,” Ding Hao retorted angrily.
“If you were capable, then why didn’t those many girlfriends you had get pregnant? Ha, if you ask , the child isn’t necessarily yours.”
Ding Ruyi continued to provoke Ding Hao with her sharp and cutting remarks.
“Shut up!” Ding Hao shouted.
“Alright, alright, can’t you two stop arguing for once? Every ti you both see each other, you fight. Do you want outsiders to laugh at our family?” Ding Ruxin stepped in to diate, but Ding Ruyi was not an easy opponent.
“Laugh at us? Big sister, did you forget the number of jokes our brother has been the butt of? I heard this Qiao En was previously Zhou Jin’an’s secretary. Brother, what’s with you always picking up Zhou Jin’an’s leftovers?” Ding Ruyi’s words were extrely unpleasant, causing Qiao En, who had just stopped feeling sick, to feel nauseous again.
“I’ll tear your damned mouth apart!” Ding Hao, unable to contain his fury, was about to get physical, but Ding Ruxin hurriedly held him back.
Ding Ruyi only grew smugger, “Did I say sothing wrong? Wasn’t one of your past girlfriends soone nad Su Nian? Did she not date Zhou Jin’an as well?”
