Chapter 226: Volunteer
Chapter 224
TCHAKKK—!
The ice-encased blade crashed into the beast’s face with a sickening thud.
With a fluid, deliberate turn to the left, the sword drew a fountain of crimson blood from the Minotaur’s visage that sprayed like a macabre fountain into the cavern air.
...
Ti seed to slow down to a crawl as everybody stared at this unbelievable scene.
Their first hit!
Their first actual, aningful hit!
It didn’t draw just a single drop of blood; instead, it released a torrent that dyed the air red for a fleeting mont.
The beast was visibly stupefied by this turn of events.
Its eyes glowed with a mixture of shock and burgeoning rage as the blood from its left jaw dripped steadily onto the cold ground.
It wanted to stagger backward in shock to reassess the situation.
Unfortunately, the two werewolves weren’t about to let that happen.
Pulling the massive hand they were holding downward, they clenched their jaws and lifted their feet, hamring them onto the limb to keep it pinned in place for a crucial mont.
Then, turning his eyes in the direction of the monster, Ray smirked.
Lightning crackled around the soles of his feet, biting into the beast’s pinned hand with electric ferocity.

BANG—!
The boy dashed up the monster’s arm with incredible velocity, leaving nothing but a streak of blue light in his wake.
He blitzed forward with imnse speed before leaping directly toward the beast’s wounded face.
Combining the force of the initial push with his current montum, Ray transitioned into a powerful kangaroo kick that was driven into the Minotaur’s bleeding face with the boy’s entire weight and force.
Ti slowed for a single heartbeat, followed by a violent crackle, and then—
BOOOM—!
The Minotaur’s massive body was sent hurtling through the air with such trendous speed that, in the blink of an eye, it collided with a distant wall.
The impact brought the stone down in a heap of heavy rubble, burying the creature instantly.
Ray landed in a smooth roll before springing back to his feet, staring into the distance where he had sent the beast flying.
Blood dribbled down his own nose, which he ignored as he panted in a state of mild exhaustion.
Another solid hit!
For the first ti since the encounter began, the teens were able to send the beast flying.
Hope—the very hope they had been seeking—had finally appeared in front of them!
’We can do this. We can do this. We can do this. We ca—’ The words hung in Van’s throat like a dry morsel of food that refused to be swallowed.
Bright arcs of lightning suddenly crackled through the rubble where the beast lay buried.
Then, with a thunderous crash, the rocks exploded into fine dust.
In one fluid motion, the beast was already in front of Ray, crossing the distance of about five ters within a heartbeat.
Without wasting a single second, its mace was already whistling through the air, inches from the boy’s jaw.
Before it could land, Felix swiftly crossed the distance, standing as a shield before his brother.
With a desperate cross of his hands, he t the strike just in ti.
The mace landed with the full weight of a freight train.
Sickening cracks could be heard as the spikes on the mace tore through the werewolf’s forearms, drawing blood as his body was sent flying backward from the impact.
In his place, Caster’s wolf could be seen vaulting off the ground, swinging its sharp paws toward the beast in a rapid double kick.
Casually, the Minotaur deflected each of the swings and kicks from the summoned creature.
Its free hand fizzled with gathering lightning, which the Minotaur was about to blast into the wolf at point-blank range.
Before it had the chance to fire, the wolf was gone, vanishing as quickly as it had appeared.
In its stead, Ray caught his breath, his eyes narrowed and his claws gleaming dangerously in the dim light.
’System! Put all my free points into agility now!’

Within a second, as the newfound energy flowed through his veins, Ray beca a total monster.
He began swinging his claws with absolute ferocity, his velocity increasing so imnsely that it caught almost everyone by surprise.
A slash from above. A slash from below. A slash from the flank.
Ray was flowing through the strikes seamlessly, refusing to pause even for a single heartbeat or let the creature catch its breath.
On the other hand, the Minotaur remained eerily composed, calmly deflecting the barrage with its mace.
With lightning still coursing through its massive fra, each of the boy’s attacks was parried with ease, despite his sudden burst of speed.
Ray didn’t let up for a mont, but his eyes suddenly widened in alarm.
Bending down swiftly, he avoided a lethal swing aid directly for his cranium; the displacent of air from the near-miss was felt intensely against his skin.
His heart thudded in his chest with raw fear.
Leaping from behind him, Trish appeared with her sword raised high above her head.
Her hand was still bleeding from when she had gripped the blade during her previous gambit, yet she descended now like a goddess of war, ready to eviscerate her enemy instantly.
With stunning agility, the Minotaur swerved on one hoof, dodging the girl entirely.
Her sword slamd into the earth where the beast had stood only a fraction of a second prior.
Before she could regain her composure, the monster swung its mace forward like a golf club, aiming to send her flying.
Darting to her side, Ray intercepted the path of the blow.
A circular shield of light instantly materialized in front of him.
’Damn. I only have twenty points of energy left. Definitely not enough for a full transformation,’ he realized grimly.
The mace collided with the shield of light.
Contrary to his expectations—and despite the shield usually absorbing blows—cracks imdiately began spider-webbing across its glowing surface.
Turning his head, Ray shoved Trish away with all his remaining strength.
He moved just in ti.
The shield shattered like brittle glass after absorbing more than half of the mace’s impact, but the residual force was still devastating.
The weapon hamred into Ray’s head, causing blood to gush out as his body was sent spiraling into the air.
Within re monts, he tumbled across the ground, ricocheting off the stone for several seconds before coming to a skidding halt at Van’s feet.

"Ack... kuk.... Cough.... Cough..."
Fresh blood spilled from his mouth with each violent, racking cough.
His scalp was bleeding profusely, and while his passive skill was already nding the trauma at an astonishing rate, the reality was clear: if sothing wasn’t done soon, he would lose his life.
He knew it.
’If—if only there was a way to regain my energy. I could ask Bruce for a transformation.’
Before the thought could fully settle in Ray’s mind, a deep, resonant voice echoed from within his consciousness.
"Let
take over."
Spinning around in his ntal space, Ray’s eyes widened in unexpected shock at the one who had just spoken.
"Bruce?"
