Chapter 57: 057 The Princess is Very Different (First Update)

Li Xianyun looked at Yuchi Qian with a smile and said, “If you’d like, I could have the Palace Servants in the Khan Palace make a swing chair for you, they do it very well.”

Upon hearing this, the Palace Servants in Khan Palace were elated at the prospect of making a swing chair themselves, rubbing their hands together with eagerness, ready to give it a try.

Yelu Xuan, looking up at his mother, said in a low voice, “Mother, Xuanxuan wants one too.”

Yuchi Qian, not wanting to trouble Li Xianyun, initially wanted to decline, but upon lowering her head and seeing Yelu Xuan’s young, sincere, and hopeful little face, she could not bear to disappoint him and could only say to Li Xianyun, “Then I’ll have to trouble your Highness.”

Yelu Xuan was overjoyed and said to Li Xianyun, “Thank you, Godmother.”

“No need to thank , consider it a eting gift from your Godmother to Xuanxuan,” Li Xianyun said softly.

Yelu Xuan said with a smile, “Godmother, I really love this eting gift.”

After Yuchi Qian got down from the swing chair, Yelu Xuan started swinging in it.

Yuchi Qian, looking at the large, neatly ford piece of farmland, asked, “Your Highness, what are you planting here?”

“This is a vegetable garden I had cleared, where I’ve planted so vegetables, with rose branches pressed around the ridges, and so night-blooming jasmine,” Li Xianyun replied with a smile.

Yuchi Qian had often heard that the won of Houtang were gentle and delicate like willows in the breeze, unable to stand the wind or the sun, each one delicate and frail.

Although they were delicate, they were talented and proficient in all sorts of arts, such as music, chess, calligraphy, and painting.

At that ti, Yuchi Qian was very curious to et the won of Houtang.

Now that she finally had, she found that Li Xianyun was both similar to and different from the rumors.

If one were to speak of appearance, she was definitely as the rumors described, gentle and dainty, lovely and charming.

Yet, in terms of behavior, she was quite different; she had never heard of Houtang won who enjoyed farming.

Yuchi Qian looked around at the vast expanse of farmland, which seed rather out of place within the scenery of Khan Palace. Did Khan really agree to her clearing such a large piece of land?

“Has Khan said anything about you doing this?” Yuchi Qian asked curiously.

Li Xianyun smiled and said, “Khan told

to take care of the things inside our living quarters as I see fit.”

Shock was written all over Yuchi Qian’s face.

Because Yelu Yan and Yelu Yu had a good relationship, Yuchi Qian had the chance to et Yelu Yan a few tis up close.

He was a man of few words and indifferent, imposing and fearso, commanding respect and keeping others at a distance. Everyone feared him, yet she had not expected him to say such words.

“I never expected Khan to be so kind-hearted,” Yuchi Qian exclaid sincerely.

The Palace Servants and maids of Khan Palace thought to themselves that Khan was only kind and gracious to the Princess Consort; others did not enjoy such favorable treatnt.

Upon hearing this, Li Xianyun’s lips curled into a smile, preferring not to discuss Yelu Yan any further.

“Do you like to grow things?” Yuchi Qian asked.

Li Xianyun nodded and said, “Planting seeds in the soil and watching them grow bit by bit gives

a real sense of achievent and makes

feel remarkably content.”

“Maybe I’ll give it a try when I get back,” Yuchi Qian thought to herself.

Li Xianyun, graceful and gentle yet lively, was very likeable.

Yuchi Qian too had a gentle and kind nature, and the two got along very well.

Although they had only spent a short while together, they felt an instant connection as if they were old friends eting for the first ti and regretted not having t sooner.

Moreover, since Li Xianyun was Yelu Xuan’s lifesaver, Yuchi Qian grew even fonder of her.

Just then, the Chief of the food preparation area ca over with a group of maids.

Each of them was carrying a tray, and on every tray were four or five bowls of ice porridge.

Approaching, the Chief paid her respects to Li Xianyun, Yuchi Qian, and Yelu Xuan in turn, before finally looking at Li Xianyun and saying, “Your Highness, as per your order, the ice porridge is ready.”

“Good,” said Li Xianyun.

She said, glancing toward Youlan.

Understanding, Youlan spoke to everyone, “The princess consort invites you all to wash your hands and enjoy the chilled porridge.”

Everyone, with gleaming smiles, expressed their gratitude, “Thank you, Princess Consort.”

Li Xianyun looked at Yuchi Qian and said, “I had the kitchen make chilled porridge, would you like to try so?”

Before Yuchi Qian could speak, Yelu Xuan leapt down from the swing chair.

The swing chair rocked violently and nearly hit him.

Zhuo Ma, frightened, said, “Princely Heir Xuan, please inform us when you are getting off next ti to avoid falling.”

Yelu Xuan hurriedly replied, “Got it.”

As he spoke, he quickly walked over to Li Xianyun’s side, took hold of the hem of her dress, and said, “Godmother, Xuanxuan also wants to eat chilled porridge.”

When the Chief had the chilled porridge brought over just now, he was captivated by the vivid colors of the porridge.

Later, he saw a group of maids and palace servants either standing or sitting on the ridge of the field, happily indulging in it.

His cravings intensified, and saliva nearly dripped from his mouth.

Li Xianyun smiled and said, “Chilled porridge is very cold. You can try it, but you can’t have too much.”

Since she was very young, Li Xianyun had been taking care of her younger brothers and sisters, so she was very skilled in childcare.

Yelu Xuan promised earnestly, “Don’t worry, Godmother. Xuanxuan definitely won’t eat too much.”

He then turned to Yuchi Qian and said, “Mother, Godmother agreed. Please agree too, okay?”

Li Xianyun looked at Yelu Xuan with a smile. This five-year-old little rascal was so clever and playful.

Knowing his mother was hard to convince, he resorted to an indirect approach.

What a smart little fellow.

Yuchi Qian glanced at Li Xianyun and smiled, “Then let’s listen to your godmother.”

Li Xianyun suggested, “Let’s not stand here. Let’s sit on the swing chair.”

“Great!” Yelu Xuan was elated.

The three of them settled on the swing chair, Li Xianyun and Yuchi Qian on either side, with Yelu Xuan in the middle.

As soon as the three were seated, Zhuo Ma and Youlan walked over with two trays.

Li Xianyun picked up a bowl of chilled porridge and handed it to Yuchi Qian, “You try it first. If you think it’s okay, then give so to Xuanxuan.”

“Alright.”

Yuchi Qian took a white spoon, scooped up a spoonful of chilled porridge, and placed it in her mouth. Cold and refreshing, sweet and delicious, it was delightful.

Yuchi Qian exclaid with a smile, “So this is chilled porridge? It’s really delicious.”

Yelu Xuan had been eagerly looking up at his mother, asking, “Mother, can Xuanxuan drink now?”

Yuchi Qian scooped a small spoonful and fed it to Yelu Xuan’s mouth with a smile.

Yelu Xuan chewed slowly, and after finishing, he smiled, “It’s so delicious! Mother, I want more.”

“Chilled porridge is too cold; you can’t eat too much or your stomach will hurt. Moreover, you’ve been delicate these past few days; you can’t eat too much cold food,” Li Xianyun advised.

Yuchi Qian looked down at Yelu Xuan and said, “Xuanxuan, your godmother knows dicine, so you must listen to her, understand?”

“Alright then,” Yelu Xuan agreed, “Godmother, can Xuanxuan have another small sip?”

“Okay, just one more sip, and you must keep your promise,” Li Xianyun said with a smile.

While the group was chatting and laughing, a maid ca up to Li Xianyun and bowed, “I am here to inform the princess consort that Rong Ge from the Empress Dowager’s Palace has arrived.”
