Chapter 184: Chapter 184: Must Be Protected_1
All the way, Xia Qingtian’s face was getting paler, more and more blood was soaking her clothes, and she was gradually losing consciousness.
However, she kept murmuring, “Save my child.”
“Save him…”
“Nothing can happen to the baby!”
Bo Jingyan watched as the woman in his arms grew weaker. A strong surge of panic ca over him like an erupting volcano, making it almost impossible for him to cope.
Xia Qingtian couldn’t lose the child in her belly.
And how could he bear to lose Xia Qingtian?
They ran several red lights on the way, and what should have been a ten-minute journey was halved, delivering her to the hospital within five minutes.
Despite their swiftness, Xia Qingtian had completely lost consciousness by the ti they reached the hospital.
The situation was critical, and after briefly gathering basic information about Xia Qingtian, the doctors rushed her into the operating room.
Bo Jingyan was anxiously waiting outside.
He had never realized how long the passage of ti could feel. Each minute was as long as a century to him. Suddenly, soone called out, “Mr. Bo…”
He turned his head and found it was Chen Momo.
“What are you doing here?” he asked, trying to suppress his anxious feelings, his voice husky.
Chen Momo felt a pang in her heart.
She had been following right behind in his car, and had arrived at the hospital with him, but he had ignored her entirely, focused on Xia Qingtian.
Before she could respond, Chen Momo noticed drops of blood falling from Bo Jingyan’s hand. He had been clenching his fists so tightly that his nails had pierced his skin.
“Oh, Mr. Bo, you’re injured!” she exclaid, concern filling her voice.
Bo Jingyan nonchalantly pulled his hand away, “It’s nothing!”
Having not seen Bo Jingyan in a long ti, Chen Momo didn’t want to miss this opportunity to get close to him, “Mr. Bo, let
help you…”
Before she could finish her sentence, the door to the operating room suddenly opened.
“Move…” Bo Jingyan brushed past her, almost losing his composure as he rushed to the newly erged doctors, “Doctor, how is the patient?”
The doctor’s expression was gravely serious, “The patient’s life is not in danger, but I’m afraid we can’t save the child. We will perform a dilation and curettage surgery. We need a family mber to sign the consent form.”
With that, a nurse handed him the form.
When Chen Momo heard this, she felt a flash of wild joy.
This is great!
Xia Qingtian’s child couldn’t be saved after all!
Now the child posed no threat to her, and all her scheming hadn’t been in vain.
Bo Jingyan took the pen, but his hand hovered over the form, unable to sign.
The doctor and nurse urged him, but he was immobile.
Chen Momo saw this and felt a terrible sense of foreboding.
“Mr. Bo…” she didn’t want her strategy to go awry and reminded him gently.
“You once called
specifically to persuade Qingtian to abort. She cut off ties with
over this. Now it seems the child can’t be saved. Maybe it’s fate.”
“Quickly sign the surgery consent form so they can perform the operation. If you keep delaying, not only the child, but also Qingtian’s life might be in danger.”
Bo Jingyan found her words sensible.
He had always wanted Xia Qingtian to abort that bastard. The opportunity was right in front of his eyes, and he was sure Xia Qingtian and the old man Bo would understand.
After all, it was an accident, and his consent to the procedure was for Xia Qingtian’s safety.
This was the best outco!
With this in mind, Bo Jingyan finally signed the surgery consent form.
As he went to put the pen down, he was suddenly reminded of Xia Qingtian’s plea. He saw her utter desperation as she fiercely clung to him, begging him to save the baby.
He changed his mind instantly and ripped the consent form in half.
Chen Momo looked on with shock, “Mr. Bo, what are you doing?”
“I won’t agree to abort the child! You must guarantee the patient and the child’s safety!!!”
Ignoring Chen Momo, Bo Jingyan declared authoritatively, “I’m going to call Dr. Cheng Zii for backup.”
The doctor initially wanted to persuade him not to be impulsive.
But upon hearing Dr. Cheng Zii’s na, he imdiately stopped. Cheng Zii was nationally renowned and respected internationally as one of the best obstetricians and gynecologists.
In recent years, he had been imrsed in his academic research and dical experints, rarely performing surgeries. If he could be convinced to co, the chances of saving the baby would be greatly increased.
Without further ado, the doctor reminded Bo Jingyan, “Dr. Cheng must arrive within half an hour; if he can’t make it, we will have to operate for the sake of the patient.”
“Alright,” Bo Jingyan nodded and made a call.
Twenty minutes later, Dr. Cheng arrived. He didn’t stop to exchange pleasantries with Bo Jingyan. He imdiately went into the operating room.
Seeing this, Chen Momo felt her heart sinking. Clearly, Bo Jingyan had made up his mind to save Qingtian’s child.
She couldn’t offer up another complaint now, or Bo Jingyan would suspect her motives.
Now, she had no choice but to pray for Qingtian’s bad luck, hoping that even the highly skilled Dr. Cheng couldn’t save the child.
Regrettably, her prayers went unanswered.
After what felt like an eternity, the door to the operating room opened, and Dr. Cheng erged. He lowered his mask and said to a tense Bo Jingyan, “Mission accomplished.”
Understanding the doctor’s aning, Bo Jingyan’s face finally relaxed a little.
“Dr. Cheng, the equipnt I promised for your lab has been ordered. It should be delivered to your lab soon.”
Dr. Cheng nodded in satisfaction and left.
Imdiately after, a pale Xia Qingtian was moved from the operating room to a general ward.
…
Numb with sleep and disoriented, Xia Qingtian didn’t know how long she was unconscious. When she woke up, her brain was still sowhat foggy.
Opening her eyes, she found herself in a hospital room. The mory of the accident ca flooding back, and a surge of panic overwheld her.
The baby!
What about her baby? Was it okay?
Scared, Xia Qingtian automatically reached for her belly, but having been only three months pregnant, it was still flat and she couldn’t tell whether the child was alright. Just as she was growing worried…
“Don’t worry, the baby is fine!” A cold voice rang out.
She looked up and found it was Bo Jingyan.
