Chapter 436: Chapter 433: The Lion’s Big Demand_1

“Lady, the Chen Couple has arrived,”

Muniang looked up in astonishnt. Hadn’t they just visited that morning? Why were they back so soon?

“Please, let them in,”

“Yes.”

When the Chen Couple entered, they smiled sheepishly, “We’ve troubled you again, and it really shouldn’t have been the case.”

Muniang suppressed the confusion in her heart and smiled, “It’s nothing, please co in and take a seat.”

Just as Muniang was about to inquire about the reason for their visit, she noticed that there was a woman following behind the Chen Couple, who looked furious and in her early twenties, quite attractive if not for the malice in her eyes.

Chen hastily introduced, “This is my daughter-in-law, Mrs. Wang.”

Muniang nodded and called out, “Qingya, bring so tea.”

However, the woman cut her off abruptly, “What’s the tea for? We’re not here for a leisurely chat over tea.”

Muniang was taken aback and turned her gaze to Chen and Madam Li, only to see Chen awkwardly coughing twice and reprimanding, “Mrs. Wang, don’t be so rude! It’s courteous of Lady Yu to offer tea, what are you making a fuss about?”

Mrs. Wang was unhappy and retorted, “Dad, have you forgotten why we ca? Why are you acting like a guest? We are here on urgent business. With Dashu bedridden, how can you even think of drinking tea?”

Upon hearing this, Chen was almost choked to death by his own embarrassnt. Now that he was face to face with Qiao Muniang, he was too ashad to speak further. Even worse, his daughter-in-law was relentlessly pushing him to the brink, deliberately poking at his sore spots and leaving him flushed and in a bind.

Mrs. Wang, looking at them, felt nothing but frustration. These old fools couldn’t take care of a single thing properly, coming here without so much as a fart to contribute, just sitting down for tea? If she hadn’t been pushing him, he may have very well just sipped his tea and slinked away without uttering a word. She was thankful she had co!

Muniang listened, utterly baffled by the situation. What on earth was going on?

“Is there a reason for your visit this ti?” Muniang asked.

“Of course there is!” Mrs. Wang put on an air of overwhelming dominance, and Muniang’s brows furrowed slightly, her displeasure growing.

“Our Yuhua suffered such a terrible accident at your i Garden. Isn’t it right for i Garden to give a proper explanation?”

Muniang replied calmly, “That’s only to be expected. The culprit has been caught and, before being expelled, even consulted with Chen about the punishnt, which he had authorized. Despite soone’s malicious actions, the incident still took place in i Garden, so i Garden has already apologised to Miss Chen both publicly and privately. As for the treatnt of Miss Chen’s injuries, i Garden is covering all the costs. Is there still sothing unsatisfactory?”

Mrs. Wang was startled, not expecting to encounter such a conscientious business operation. She had co prepared to make a fuss and pick apart their story, but they seed almost too good to be true.

But then Mrs. Wang’s expression darkened again, “So what? You think punishing the culprit and apologizing is enough? My sister nearly lost her life; treating her injuries is the least you could do. But you also owe us compensation in silver! There’s no escaping that easily. Don’t try to dodge the real issue.”

Muniang was astonished, “I have already given the money to Chen this morning.”

Chen, however, felt sowhat ashad and lowered his head, not knowing how to face Muniang.

Wang Yufang snorted, “You an the fifty taels? You heartless businessman, is a living being’s life worth just fifty taels of silver? Our Yuhua is the treasure of our entire family at ho. With the huge wrong she suffered, do you really think you can send us away with just fifty taels of silver? Do you think you’re dispersing beggars?”

Muniang was stupefied for quite a while, and had it not been for the sake of saving Chen’s face, she would have already retorted with curses by now. In this era, human life truly wasn’t worth much; even if soone died at their i Garden, providing ten taels of silver as compensation would be considered a lot!

Moreover, the person in question was still perfectly fine, not missing a penny for treatnt and dicine. Muniang was no fool, not one to enjoy being bullied. Giving the money readily was actually in consideration of Chen Yuhua’s face, but who was this woman popping out of nowhere to talk nonsense in front of her?!

“Then how much do you want?” Muniang asked coldly.

Wang Yufang cleared her throat, “At least three to five hundred taels!”

As soon as these words ca out, not just Qiao Muniang but even the Chen Couple were taken aback. Just as they were about to speak up, Wang Yufang silenced them with a warning glance.

Muniang’s face darkened, “Do you think I’m an easy mark, a gullible fool, hence you’re asking for such an exorbitant amount?”

Wang Yufang stood her ground, “Don’t think that just because we’re ordinary folks, we’re easy to deceive. What are a few hundred taels of silver to you businessn? You make it back with just one performance, right? Yuhua has perford so many tis for you, how much money has she helped you make? Now that she’s seriously injured, you want to dismiss us with such a little amount of silver? Dream on!”

“So you’re saying I haven’t paid her wages for performing?” Muniang was simply speechless.

“What’s enough with that little paynt? Businessn are so profit-driven; you earn so much but give the hard workers so little! You still have the nerve to talk about it? I’m telling you, if you don’t hand over the money today, I will not let this go, even if it ans turning the sky upside down!”

“Mrs. Wang! Shut up! What are you saying? You’re disgracing our Chen family!” Chen could no longer bear it and scolded her.

Muniang sneered, “Turn the sky upside down? Do you think i Garden is a place where you can make trouble whenever you want? If you don’t believe , we can certainly give it a try and see, but don’t co begging to

about the outco.”

Wang Yufang, having heard this, grew sowhat afraid, especially since Qiao Muniang did not seem like the average witless, easy-to-bully woman. Just the tone she used in uttering the threats was enough to make people wary. Wang Yufang didn’t dare to confront Qiao Muniang anymore, turning to Chen with a plea for help in her eyes.

Chen, frustrated and feeling as if she was beyond hope, said, “Get out! Don’t block the view here!”

Wang Yufang had no desire to linger either, the oppressive aura around Qiao Muniang was truly uncomfortable, but before leaving, she did not forget to throw Chen a aningful glance, “But rember Dashu’s illness, we cannot go without the silver!”

After saying that, she quickly turned and left.

Chen, his face ashen with anger that Wang Yufang had provoked, soon after she left, stood up to apologize to Muniang, “My daughter-in-law truly lacks manners, she has not appreciated the generosity of Lady Yu, I am truly ashad.”

“Is there so difficulty at ho?” Hearing the words of Wang Yufang and Chen, Muniang vaguely understood sothing.

Chen sighed, his tone laden with deep helplessness.
