Chapter 296: Chapter 297 Too Attracting_1
Jian Yue’s thoughts actually had so rit. Although Qiao Muniang did seem to be well-behaved, Jian Yue’s years of experience reading people told her that Qiao Muniang was too different from ordinary won. There was always sothing elusive about her. A girl from a small village household, facing the luxurious Marquis Chen Mansion, only felt surprise and not envy. Perhaps, in her heart, Marquis Chen Mansion wasn’t even worth ntioning.
Indeed, in Muniang’s heart, owning a fortune was what she truly desired. A small courtyard, no matter how luxurious and beautiful, was still just one ten-thousandth of the world. She might have been born a woman not content to be confined within the ho.
Yu Guang snorted, “He chose her himself, and he gave away his heart by his own will. Whatever happens, he deserves to bear the consequences.”
Jian Yue glared, “But he is your own son, and you talk like this!”
Yu Guang replied helplessly, “We should interfere less in the children’s affairs. Ze’er is grown up; doesn’t he have so sense of his own? Look at him, at twenty-six he’s still unmarried. If it weren’t for eting a woman he fancies, he’d probably still be at the border and not coming back. Let’s just be content.”
Jian Yue thought about it and it was indeed true. She laughed at herself, “I guess I am narrow-minded. When he had no desire to marry, I was worried he wouldn’t have a family. Now that he finally wants to get married, I’m worried he might trust the wrong person.”
Yu Guang comforted, “Aren’t all parents like this? They worry about their children for a lifeti. Alright, don’t think too much. I think Muniang is not bad. Ze’er’s judgnt isn’t off. She’s a courageous child; just put your mind at ease.”
Although Yu Guang had enforced family discipline on Yu Ze, deep down he was actually quite admiring of Yu Ze’s spirit. They say a tiger father has no dog sons; when he was young, he had been just as wild, but he acknowledged that he was no match for his son.
His marriage to Jian Yue was one of childhood sweethearts truly in love. He too had secretly vowed in his heart to marry only her. But being born into a family of nobility, there were situations one couldn’t control. Apart from Jian Yue, the other three concubines in his household were taken out of necessity. Yu Ze would rather defy an imperial edict than betray his own beliefs, and in this aspect alone, his son far surpassed him by countless asures.
Nevertheless, while he thought as such, the punishnt he had to administer was unavoidable. On one hand, it was to temper Yu Ze’s sharpness, and on the other, it was an explanation for the emperor. Even though the emperor had verbally forgiven Yu Ze, his true thoughts were another matter. He hoped the punishnt would dissipate so of the emperor’s anger.
——
“You could have gone to the palace banquet alone. Why did you have to bring
along? Strictly speaking, I haven’t even formally entered your household. What does it look like, bringing a woman without proper status?” Muniang said hesitantly.
“Who would dare deny it if I say you’re my wife? I even intended to take you to be presented at court, and this occasion happens to be a good opportunity. I will be with you; there’s nothing to worry about,” he said.
Muniang retorted with annoyance, “Why does it sound like you’re really going for a fun-ti of feasting and enjoynt? Can’t you see this might be a trap?”
Yu Ze smiled slyly, “Whether it’s a trap or not will ultimately depend on what I do. Just treat it as going for a fun-ti of feasting and enjoynt.”
“Really?” asked Muniang skeptically.
Yu Ze smiled, “Really.”
The next day, early in the morning, before Muniang even opened her eyes, a group of maidservants pulled her up to dress and make her up. Muniang, drowsy the entire ti, closed her eyes tight. As soone who loved her sleep, getting up at what felt like four in the morning was far more difficult than death itself.
The little maids saw Muniang in this state and felt helpless. They specifically assigned soone to support Muniang to prevent her from dozing off and falling over.
“Princess, the Prince has instructed that for this visit to the palace, you should wear the Shu brocade ‘Hundred Butterflies Through Flower Skirt’ bestowed by His Majesty. What do you think?”
“Good.”
“This servant thinks that with this skirt, you should pair a ‘horse-tailing coiffure’ with a set of matched palace makeup and golden peony jewelry with thousands of layers. If it’s too flamboyant, we can also add a plain palace flower at the back,” suggested the maid.
“Good.”
“Regarding these shoes, this servant believes—”
“Good.”
The little maid servants blushed with embarrassnt; serving such a carefree master, they didn’t know if it was a good or bad thing.
After at least an hour of fussing, they finally finished dressing her up. During this ti, Muniang was tossed and turned, and yet her eyelids couldn’t stay open. Now, a little maid whispered, “Princess, it’s ready.”
Only then did Muniang open her eyes and yawned, “It’s about ti.”
The little maid handed over the mirror with a smile, “Have a look, is it nice?”
Muniang was genuinely taken aback as she looked; since crossing over to this ti, she never had the ti to properly dress herself up. It was the first ti she was dressed up so elaborately, and she truly felt she looked extrely beautiful.
“Mhm, it looks very nice, your skills are not bad at all. Where did you learn them?” Muniang smiled as she spoke.
The maids smiled shyly, “This isn’t much of a skill. The key is that the Princess is born beautiful. Otherwise, no matter how skillful we were, we couldn’t make you look like a fairy.” Their words weren’t false; Muniang had a natural beauty to start with, and dressing her up wasn’t difficult at all.
Muniang delightedly looked at herself in the mirror again, as everyone has the desire to look beautiful.
She heard the maids suddenly bow and salute, “Greeting the prince.”
Muniang then turned around and saw Yu Ze enter. She smiled joyfully, “Look, isn’t it beautiful?”
Yu Ze paused, clearly stunned for a mont. Muniang beca even more proud, her smile growing wider. But then, Yu Ze’s expression darkened, “Who dressed you up?”
The maids were imdiately confused and hastened to say, “It was us, your servants.”
Muniang glared at him irritably, “Why are you scolding them? It looks pretty nice.”
Yu Ze said with a dark face, “It’s too eye-catching.”
Muniang was at a loss for words and really didn’t feel like dealing with him.
Yu Ze sent away all the maids and then wrapped his arms around Muniang’s waist, “I really don’t want to let others see you like this.”
Muniang was annoyed yet amused, “You were the one who prepared these clothes for .”
“How would I know you’d look so enticing in them?”
Muniang glared at him, “So you thought I was ugly before?”
“I’d rather you were a bit uglier now,” Yu Ze said, and then he pressed his lips against Muniang’s, kissing and sucking on them voraciously. Muniang’s face turned bright red. She was already made up, and now she looked like a dewy, fresh rose, making it hard for soone not to want to crush her into their bones.
Yu Ze’s hands started to roam restlessly. Muniang strenuously pushed him away, “Stop it. It took so much effort to get ready; don’t make us late for entering the palace.”
