Chapter 278: Chapter 275: You Are My Life
“””
When Shu Wan said this, the old lady’s face also beca a bit unnatural; after all, she had always been the one to stop Shu Wan from giving money to Jiang Yan.
Back when she got divorced from Jiang Fengwei, it could be said that they severally cut ties. Jiang Yan was related to Jiang Fengwei, and the Jiang family was a whole clan of uncultured vampires. She worried that Jiang Yan would be just like his father, blindly generous to the Jiang family but stingy toward everyone else.
It would be like raising him for nothing.
Another concern was Ma Jiandong.
Shu Wan was on her second marriage, but it was Ma Jiandong’s first, and he was also three years younger than her. In such circumstances, the Shu family inevitably worried about his feelings on every matter, especially since it had been agreed upon during discussions of marriage that her son would not go with her.
But who could have expected Jiang Yan to have co this far.
“Do you also bla
in your heart?” The old lady sighed. “After all, it was I who stopped you from taking Jiang Yan with you back then.
“If I had insisted on having him, even you couldn’t have stopped , so Mom, in the end, it’s actually my fault.”
As Shu Wan spoke, she turned her head to look outside. Xiaozheng was still showing off his new computer to his grandfather, and talking about how aweso his brother was, that he could drive… Now in his heart, Jiang Yan was probably as important to him as his dad and mom.
It’s good, at least in the future Xiaozheng will have a little brother to support each other.
…
At eight in the evening, when Jiang Yan returned to Qinghe Garden, Mu Jiawen was sitting cross-legged on the sofa watching TV.
He scanned the room, then looked upstairs and asked, “Are you alone?”
“Yeah, Mom went out to dinner with Auntie Tang and the others and hasn’t co back. Big brother went to watch a movie with Teacher Luo and second brother is working overti.”
After Mu Jiawen finished speaking, her eyes were glued on him.
Jiang Yan felt a bit creeped out by her stare and quickly reviewed whether he had had contact with any won at the electronics factory today, and whether any of them were wearing perfu.
But after thinking about it, he could not recall any female being within five ters of him. As for perfu…
He sniffed at his clothes then cursed under his breath. He had almost forgotten that the team leader from the engineering departnt who had been working with him, goddamn had body odor, so he sprayed a lot of cologne.
At the ti, he even found it overwhelming and had to open the windows for half an hour.
“It’s cologne, sprayed by a guy from engineering. He has body odor. I tell you, even with so much cologne sprayed, the body odor wasn’t completely covered up. It was suffocating ….”
As he spoke, he took off his jacket and tossed it into the washing machine with disdain; his knitted vest went in as well, and in the end, he was only left in his thin white shirt.
He sat down on the sofa, snuggled up to Mu Jiawen, stretched out an arm around her, then lifted her onto his lap with both hands on her waist and leaned in to kiss her, only to be t with a slap on the mouth from Mu Jiawen.
Jiang Yan: “…”
He took her hand into his own and said, “Co on, out with it. What’s the issue? Let
hear where I went wrong again.”
“Quite self-aware, aren’t you?” Mu Jiawen pulled her hand away, twisted his ear, and said, “Since when have you started attracting bad peach blossoms?”
Jiang Yan was startled, then frowned. “Has Weng Minhong been looking for you?”
“So her na is Weng Minhong, huh? Do you know she likes you?”
“Just found out not long ago, she seems a bit neurotic.”
“You noticed too?”
Jiang Yan was concerned about sothing else. He asked, “When did she co looking for you? What did she say? What did she do?”
“She tried to pull
in, but I shook her off, and then, just like this–”
She said this while pushing out her chest, and Jiang Yan’s gaze shifted from her face to below her neck. He swallowed hard, montarily forgetting that he should be following up with the question, “What do you an ‘like this’? What are you implying?”
“I don’t quite understand why she wants to provoke , being so young?”
Provoke?
“””
Jiang Yan ca back to his senses, his face filled with shock as he looked at her, “Are you saying she’s trying to compare sizes with you?”
To tell the truth, Mu Jiawen also didn’t understand the purpose of Weng Minhong stopping her today. Surely, she couldn’t just be expressing her liking for Jiang Yan and asking her to give him up?
How big does a hole in soone’s brain have to be to think that way?
Mu Jiawen was annoyed and didn’t want to guess anymore.
She waved her hand dismissively, “Forget it, I don’t care anymore. In the end, it’s you who has to deal with it. If…”
“Mu Jiawen!”
It was the first ti Jiang Yan called her with such a firm tone. The playful smirk that had previously been on his face was gone, his gaze serious as he looked at her, “No matter when, you should always trust , you need to know…”
He cupped her face with both hands, lowered his head, and pressed a kiss to her lips, whispering softly, “You are my life!”
You are my life!
Like a bewitching echo in her ears, Mu Jiawen stared at him dumbfounded; their gazes collided in the air, staring intently at each other, entwined and inseparable!
…
The Monday schedule was always very tight, so much so that everybody was busy checking and handing in their howork during the long break.
Weng Minhong had been nervous all morning. She didn’t dare to look directly at Jiang Yan, but her peripheral vision occasionally glanced at his figure until the bell for the last period rang. Only then did she finally let go of the anxiety that had been hanging over her all morning, releasing a sigh of relief.
Jiang Yan hadn’t co to warn her; did that an he didn’t care about Mu Jiawen as much as others said?
Or was it that Mu Jiawen hadn’t told him at all?
In her private hopes, Weng Minhong wished it was the forr.
Even though she had only interacted with her briefly yesterday, it wasn’t hard to see that Mu Jiawen had a stubborn and unsociable nature, aloof and cold, not at all smooth in handling relationships. Dating soone with that kind of personality must be rather dull, right?
Despite possessing a pretty face, who’s to say one wouldn’t grow tired of it after a while!
“Weng Minhong.”
Suddenly, an unfamiliar call disrupted Weng Minhong’s thoughts. Since the class had just ended, most students were still packing their textbooks and bags, practically all still sitting at their desks.
Hearing the call, almost everyone looked up at the front door.
“Jin Dapang, what are you doing in our class?” Tian Xiaohui, who sat in the third row, asked loudly.
The newcor was a fatty from the class next door, Jin Dapang from Computer Science Class Three. Because he was short and fat, almost everybody called him Jin Dapang.
Hearing Tian Xiaohui’s question, Jin Dapang’s round, plump face broke into a smile, as he scratched his head and said sheepishly, “Weng Minhong asked
to have lunch with her. Being a guy, I took the initiative to co call on her.”
As his words fell, the class suddenly fell silent, but then it buzzed like a beehive kicked over—
“What? Did I hear that wrong? What did Jin Dapang just say?”
“He said Weng Minhong asked him to have lunch.”
“Damn! Our class rep’s taste is pretty heavy, huh!”
“I know, right? Dapang is probably not even as tall as she is. Is this targeted poverty alleviation?”
“Bullshit, if it’s about alleviating poverty, it should start with our own class, right? Aren’t you still single?”
“What can I do if she’s not into ?”
“Because your family doesn’t own a mine, but Dapang’s family does.”
“So this isn’t about poverty alleviation? It’s about mine support?”
