After leaving the Sunshine District, Zhao Lin soon encountered many wandering zombies.

Looking at the nurous zombies ahead, Zhao Lin’s brows knitted tightly.

If she were in her pri, she naturally wouldn’t fear them.

But the problem was that her legs, which had been broken, hadn’t fully healed yet.

Now she limped as she walked, and after a long ti on the road, Zhao Lin could even feel the pain coming from her legs.

She hadn’t walked long before she was already panting heavily.

"Damn Corpse King, one day I’ll definitely get my revenge on you!" Zhao Lin cursed angrily in her heart.

Had it not been for the Corpse King, she wouldn’t be in this situation...

Using the moonlight above, Zhao Lin had no choice but to take a longer detour to avoid the zombies on the street.

This made her, already limping, use up even more energy after the detour.

At the sa ti, she had to continuously kill the pursuing zombies on the way back.

By the ti Zhao Lin reached the police station, it was already dayti, and her clothes were soaked in cold sweat.

As a second-tier Evolver, Zhao Lin had taken an entire night to cover just a few kiloters.

At this mont, her pretty face was extrely pale, and her lips had lost their color.

However, seeing the police station, Zhao Lin thought of the survivors’ happy expressions upon seeing her bring back so many supplies, and felt that everything she had done was worth it.

As a police officer, protecting the lives and safety of ordinary people had always been Zhao Lin’s principle.

Even now, in the apocalypse, Zhao Lin still adhered to her responsibilities.

Because of her legs, Zhao Lin was a bit clumsy when climbing over the police station wall, her movents attracting the attention of the remaining survivors in the station.

The survivor on lookout at the gate was instantly surprised upon discovering Zhao Lin’s return.

"Officer Zhao?! You’re... you’re alive?!"

For so reason, the survivor’s tone was mixed with so panic facing the suddenly returned Zhao Lin.

His voice trembled slightly for a mont, and he didn’t dare to look Zhao Lin in the eye.

But having narrowly escaped the Corpse King, Zhao Lin, who had painstakingly brought supplies back to the police station, didn’t notice these details at all.

Upon learning of Zhao Lin’s return, the survivors inside the station all rushed out, each looking at Zhao Lin with a strange gaze.

Back inside the station, Zhao Lin found that everyone seed to have beco silent and reserved.

Each sat in place without moving much, and even when she approached, they all subconsciously retreated.

And since she ca in, these people were unwilling to talk to her voluntarily and seed to be deliberately avoiding her gaze.

Zhao Lin didn’t care much about it and directly put her large backpack in the room, emptying out all the supplies inside.

There were bread, mineral water, biscuits, even beef jerky, and chocolate, all items that could replenish energy in the apocalypse.

Upon seeing this heap of supplies, the survivors who deliberately kept their distance from Zhao Lin suddenly revealed a hint of greed in their eyes, instinctively gathering towards Zhao Lin.

"Strange, where are Old Liu and the others?"

Looking around the station, Zhao Lin couldn’t help but feel puzzled.

Only now did Zhao Lin realize that not only her colleagues, but even the survivors in the police station were much fewer than when she left.

According to the usual regulations of the officers, even when going out, so would be left to ensure the station’s safety, but now there wasn’t a single person.

"Where did everyone else go?" Zhao Lin asked, puzzled.

Upon hearing Zhao Lin’s words, the few people around imdiately started hemming and hawing, unable to give a clear answer after speaking for a while, with each one seeming to deliberately avoid Zhao Lin.

"Officer Zhao, here’s the thing..."

"They’ve all gone out to search for supplies, because there’s not much left in the station, and without tangible materials, people can’t survive."

Hearing their explanation, Zhao Lin couldn’t help but shake her head and smile bitterly.

The food around here had all been moved to the Sunshine District by the Corpse King; it would be a miracle if they found anything.

Seeing everyone grabbing food and devouring it ravenously, Zhao Lin revealed a genuine smile.

Everyone must have been starving for so long without supplies. Watching them eat the food she brought back, Zhao Lin felt a great sense of accomplishnt in her heart.

Her perseverance during this ti hadn’t been in vain.

After returning to the familiar police station, the exhaustion from the journey finally overwheld Zhao Lin, and she found a bed and fell into a deep sleep.

In her dreams, Zhao Lin vaguely heard the sound of sharpening knives.

She opened her eyes in confusion, only to find herself already tied up!

And in front of her were those survivors who had just eaten the supplies she brought back, and they had started a bonfire inside the police station.

They were sharpening knives while glaring at her viciously, their eyes like wolves staring at their prey on the prairie.

"What are you trying to do? Why did you tie up? Let go imdiately!"

Zhao Lin looked at them in disbelief, never expecting to end up like this after going through so much trouble to bring food back for them.

"Sorry, Officer Zhao, the food you brought back isn’t enough; now there’s no food, and we need to survive!"

Upon hearing these words, Zhao Lin was initially stunned, and then she felt a chill run down her spine.

The burning bonfire, the sharpened knives, herself tied up, and the missing people...

Could it be...

"What did you do to them? Where are they?!"

"Sorry, Officer Zhao, the food is too scarce. We originally only planned to target the elderly and children because they are burdens in this apocalypse."

"But your colleagues were very stubborn, unwilling to eat with us, and we had no choice but to wait until they were asleep and turn them into food too!"

Zhao Lin’s mind went blank.

She couldn’t imagine that the survivors she had rescued had turned into demons in just a few days.

"Bastards! You’re no different from those zombies!"

"We risked our lives to save you, yet you’re so ungrateful?!"

Thud!

Before Zhao Lin could finish speaking, the survivors ca over, one after another, swinging their sharp knives at her.

Zhao Lin felt her strength rapidly draining from her body, and the physical pain paled in comparison to the pain in her heart.

One young survivor, holding a dagger, ca up to Zhao Lin, with tears streaming down his guilt-ridden face: "I’m sorry, Officer Zhao, you are a good person."

Before losing consciousness, Zhao Lin only felt an overwhelming sense of irony upon hearing these words.

"Good person... ha ha, I am a good..."
