CH.563 Photon Shockwave

Today I’m apparently dealing with another fissure. I got the mission for it, got the mission briefing from Aulis, and now I’m headed for the Crystal Empire to deal with it.

I didn’t bring many combatants with , just Cailie and Lua. I can’t bring too many people to the Empire in case they take it wrong.

I also brought Lawrence and Chloe, as through their trading work, they’ve gained so fa in the Empire. Them selling our Workshop made items apparently has helped in getting them so positive fa.

Sure I was a bit apprehensive about selling good weapons to a neighbouring country. Especially since the Empire really doesn’t have any sort of pact with the three Kingdoms.

Yes there hasn’t been a war between the Empire and the Kingdoms since the 1000 year war. Again, not a war that lasted a thousand years, it just took place around the year 1000.

But then I realized, if there will be a war, HoBase itself is a massive force multiplier, so I can turn any advantage I’ve given the Empire with weapons around. And easily at that.

Just imagine one of my super gods appearing on the battlefield. They will solo clear it, most likely. And if they can’t, then the few weapons the Empire got from wouldn’t have made a difference.

Not like we are selling them legendary weapons.

But anyway. The five of us soon headed out of HoBase, and aid for the small town in the Crystal Empire.

I had Lawrence and Chloe make first contact with the village, before Lua, Cailie and I followed. The situation had already been explained to the village chief, though we said we’d know it will happen because of Divination Magic spell Foresight.

… that is another Magic I maybe should learn. It should work well with Ti Magic and foreseeing accidents would be useful.

But at the sa ti, if things I see are set in stone, I really don’t like the idea.

… though now that I think about it, I know that they aren’t. Even with the Prophecy spell, things the caster sees won’t always co to be as foreseen. I learned as much from Aulis on our first eting.

But our lies are just that, lies. I don’t want to reveal that the Goddess is literally forewarning , because if She didn’t, sothing extrely bad might happen if more fissures kept opening with no one closing them.

For the fissure itself, I put up a barrier around the town, protecting it from any stray attacks. I still wanted the villagers to stay vigilant, as the excess miasma might cause problems with the village’s farm animals. Okay, farm monsters. Because all ‘animals’ are technically F-rank monsters. Or higher ranked, but generally F-ranked.

I left Cailie next to the barrier, where she will be using her Unique skill, Purifying Winds, to hopefully prevent all of that. And it is also a good test to see just how much miasma Purifying Winds can purify.

Dealing with the fissure was also fun. I actually summoned T.G. Halberd Cannon because I wanted to see if his summon negate can negate a monster ‘summoned’ by a fissure. And naturally I summoned Exodia to close the fissure.

[collapse]

But if we use Bottomless Trap Hole, assuming that it works, we will lose out on the materials from the monster. Or in this case, monsters, as two S-ranks appeared. Halberd Cannon dealt with one of them with his effect, and fought the other one while I assisted with Errelitea. That might also have been why Halberd Cannon's effect works. Maybe only SS-ranks can resist effects that cancel a summon.

After Exodia repaired the fissure, I took in the monster corpses. I then took out a few drones from Storage and sent them to survey the areas around the fissure, just in case there were so monsters that evolved because of the miasma.

Then Lua and I headed back to the village, picking up Cailie on the way. I undid the barrier around the village and we told the people the good news, and showed them the monster corpses after they asked.

And because closing a fissure ans a new set, I got a new set. .

And a new set ans ten packs, so let’s open ten packs.

Spoiler

PHSW 1

Zenmailfunction; Heartfelt Appeal; Vylon Ohm; Mirror Mail; Attraffic Control; Damage Diet; Creepy Coney; Pinecono; Copy Knight

[collapse]

Zenmailfunction is just a sucky Monster Reborn replacent.

Vylon Ohm recovers Equip Spells, so that is nice.

Mirror Mail is not a good battle trap. But I think in the real world it might be able to do sothing, so I might need to experint with it.

Attraffic Control is just fine, preventing large groups from attacking.

Damage Diet just halves the damage you take. Which is actually great in the real world, so … it's a good card.

Pinecono is a part of so ‘combo’ with Acorno. But I’ve never heard of them, so they probably suck.

And Copy Knight is just that. A copy of another Warrior. … so he isn’t a Copy Knight, but a Copy Warrior.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 3

Wind-Up Bat; Needle Sunfish; Photon Lead; Laval Dual Slasher; Vylon Ohm; Sealing Ceremony of Suiton; Pinecono; Prior of the Ice Barrier; Xyz Territory

[collapse]

Wind-Up Bat is not bad. Turn it to defense and recover a Wind-Up from the GY.

Needle Sunfish is … I was gonna call it trash, but it doesn’t care how it is sent to the GY, so it is … Well, it is a ‘when’ effect, not an ‘if’ effect, so it can miss timing. … so it is bad, but not awful.

Photon Lead is great … for the TCG. Just special a low level Light monster from the hand. That is good.

Laval Dual Slasher can potentially attack twice and inflict piercing damage. So it is good.

Sealing Ceremony of Suiton is trash. Way too costly for just a graveyard banishnt.

Prior of the Ice Barrier would be good, if it didn’t have the ‘You cannot Special Summon any Level 5 or higher monsters the turn you use this effect.’ restriction. As it is, it is just a free body for a Link or Xyz summoning, but you still have to deal with that debilitating effect.

And Xyz Territory is a potentially nice boost to the attack of an Xyz monster.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 4

Naturia Marron; Wind-Up Warrior; Champion's Vigilance; Sealing Ceremony of Suiton; Laval Dual Slasher; Cross Attack; Wattcobra; Stinging Swordsman; Photon Cerberus

[collapse]

Naturia Marron is another Naturia, and Naturias are food. Not sure what I’ll use marrons for, but it's always good to have access to new ingredients.

Wind-Up Warrior is just a Wind-Up. Nothing special about it.

Champion's Vigilance is actually a really powerful trap. It would go decently well in a Blue-Eyes deck. Sadly if you don’t have a high level vanilla on the field, you can’t activate it, so it is a bit too situational.

Cross Attack generally isn’t worth it. If you can’t attack over your opponent’s monsters, you are in trouble. And one direct attack probably won’t get you out of that trouble.

Wattcobra can attack directly and add Watts to your hand. Both are good effects, so I guess Wattcobra is good.

Stinging Swordsman … you have 300 attack. How do you plan on doing battle damage for your effect? With your more threatening 600 defense?

And Photon Cerberus prevents trap use on the turn he is summoned. Which is good enough.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 5

Damage Diet; Evolutionary Bridge; Wind-Up Warrior; Champion's Vigilance; Creepy Coney; Rodenut; Evo-Miracle; Murmur of the Forest; Black Ray Lancer

[collapse]

Evolutionary Bridge works decently with the Gephyro I got earlier. But still kind of a convoluted trap to use.

Rodenut is cool, but he will be destroyed before he ever gets to use any of those Nut Counters.

Evo-Miracle gives decent protection, but I think it should be a Continuous Spell where all monsters Special Summoned by the effect of an "Evoltile" monster cannot be destroyed by battle or by card effects. But that is just .

And Black Ray Lancer is great. Nothing more to say about it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 6

Lunize; Pinecono; Cross Attack; Evolutionary Bridge; Tri-Wight; Sealing Ceremony of Suiton; Evo-Karma; Wind-Up Bat; Eisbahn

[collapse]

Lunize is overpowered. I have such a love-hate relationship with that card. I love using it, I hate playing against it. And it might give so sort of overpowered skill when installed, so I’ll definitely need to check that out.

Tri-Wight is kind of cool. And it is actually kind of good with Ojamas, because you can summon the three vanilla Ojamas with it and just Delta Hurricane everything.

Evo-Karma is okay enough. Just prevents your opponent from responding to summons.

And Eisbahn just turns monsters into defense position. Not worth it.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 7

Heartfelt Appeal; Plasma Ball; Space Cyclone; Evoltile Odonto; Pinecono; Prior of the Ice Barrier; Needle Sunfish; Daybreaker; Alexandrite Dragon

[collapse]

Space Cyclone is normally trash, but I actually like having it, because I might be able to use it to learn more about overlay units. Just so I can help Wilma with her project.

Evoltile Odonto is fine. Just an on summon special an Evolsaur.

Daybreaker goes well with Photon Lead, but you do need to have multiple of him in hand.

And Alexandrite Dragon is just a 2k vanilla dragon. Which is great, but since I don’t do tribute summons, I just summon whatever I want, it isn’t as special as it could be. Still a good monster to have.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 8

Needle Sunfish; Space Cyclone; Creepy Coney; Fiery Fervor; Sound the Retreat!; Prior of the Ice Barrier; Plasma Ball; Stinging Swordsman; Tribe-Shocking Virus

[collapse]

Fiery Fervor isn’t that good for TCG use, but in real life, people use buffing skills and spells all the ti. So Fiery Fervor should be very powerful. I’ll need to see if Ria and/or Agunan want that as an install.

Sound the Retreat! is bad in the TCG, but again, in real life, I think I can use it as a mass evacuation trap. So yeah, if it works like that, it is great.

And Tribe-Shocking Virus is really powerful. If I discard a water monster for example, everyone who has the water attribute should get shocked. And I can just discard one card of each attribute.

Next pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 9

Photon Lead; Plasma Ball; Goblin Pothole Squad; Bunilla; Monster Slots; Ego Boost; Rabidragon; Needle Sunfish; Evolsaur Pelta

[collapse]

Goblin Pothole Squad is more goblins for my goblin bank. And I guess them preventing Trap Hole trap cards is … Maybe they can prevent all trap holes? They probably can. So … yeah. They still suck.

Ego Boost is just a 1000 attack. Good, but not amazing. Though it might be a decent install.

Rabidragon seems like a joke, but it has really good stats. … and that is it. It has good stats.

And Evolsaur Pelta isn’t that good. Too specific, and not worth getting out.

Next, and last, pack.

Spoiler

PHSW 10

Evo-Karma; Plasma Ball; Monster Slots; Wind-Up Bat; Poisonous Winds; Laval Lancelord; Goblin Pothole Squad; Number 20: Giga-Brilliant; D.D. Telepon

[collapse]

Poisonous Winds is not sothing I want to use.

D.D. Telepon is okay, but a bit slow.

And Number 20: Giga-Brilliant is great. A fantastic way to end this opening. Sure 300 attack boost isn’t much, even if you use it twice, but it is still better than nothing.

And I suppose 3 super rares from 10 packs isn’t bad. And with two new Xyz monsters, I think I have enough for the next summoning challenge reward, so next ti, I’ll do at least that.
