CH.485 Figuring Birth Dates and Opening Packs

With the year’s end coming closer and closer, I wanted to make sure I didn’t have another forgotten Christmas situation, so I wanted to hear what the birthdays of all of my fiancés

are. I never asked for them, and most birthdays aren’t celebrated here.

Yes, I know that is ironic, considering the first big party I was at was a birthday party. But that was for a high ranked noble and it was his sixtieth. Normal people don’t celebrate birthdays, and even nobles only really celebrate the tens.

As well as the thirteenth, because after that the child can enter the Royal academy. And if they aren’t planning on that, the ‘coming of age’ party at fifteen.

So I guess I can run over all of our birthdays real quick. Mine is in January, and luckily it fits in the 28 day month, so I won’t have to change it.

Alice’s is on the eighth of the second month, soon after mine. Alice’s birthday is the US airing date of Yugioh Episode 62, the first episode Dark Magician Girl appeared in. Just felt like it fit her.

So we haven’t managed to skip either of them. But then there are the three more problematic harem mbers.

First of all, Janina doesn’t even rember when she was born, she isn’t even exactly sure how old she is. But she was born way before the modern calendar was invented, so it is literally impossible to tell her birthday.

Second, Cailie. She lived with a tribe that doesn’t use the calendar system the locals use. They don’t count the days the sa, so she doesn’t have a dedicated birthday. It is soti in the sumr from what she rembers, but the Nixie clan celebrates everyones birthdays during the new years celebration.

Thankfully, because of System Supports, we were able to learn Cailie’s true birthday, because even if the r-folk never recorded it, the System knows it. And while usually we couldn’t get that info, Cailie was able to ask Naidalie, her System Support, for her real birthday. She was born on the thirteenth of the seventh month.

Third, Lua. She knew her birthday, because her village did have contact with the outside world, in the way of the adventurers bringing blood to the village, so her birthday was recorded. She just didn’t at first want to tell us the date, but with so minor pressure, she told us it is the twenty fourth of the fourth month.

Which now that I know it and can compare it to what has happened, is the exact sa day as the day Lua asked to marry her. The day I had my talk with Laura and accepted so things. … yeah. It was a day.

Did Lua confess to because it was her birthday? Did she feel it was appropriate to ask that on her birthday? That it would give her extra luck? Well, it worked out in the end, so maybe it did.

So yeah. All we really needed to co up with was a birthday for Janina, and she had the perfect date in mind. The day Ra almost burned her to death. A ‘rebirth’ day of sorts. That was on the first of the thirteenth month, so that is now her birthday.

[collapse]

And there was all the important stuff for this chapter, as with the rest, I just plan to open 30 packs. Because I can and because I want.

First 10 packs of , followed by 20 packs of .

So let’s get to it.

Spoiler

ANPR 1

Advance Draw; Iron Core Luster; Shiny Black "C"; At One With the Sword; Divine Dragon Aquabizarre; Cyborg Doctor; Core Blaster; Sunlight Unicorn; Fortune Lady Fire

[collapse]

Second pack is better, because Fortune Lady Fire is new. I don’t know if I ever ntioned this, but I do like the Fortune Ladies. I like the idea of them growing stronger as the duel goes on. Sadly that ans their attack gain effect isn’t that good, because modern duels always end before turn 5.

But I do like the idea, if just the ga would be a bit slower.

Next pack.

Spoiler

ANPR 3

Sunny Pixie; Blackwing - Mistral the Silver Shield; Pixie Ring; At One With the Sword; Silver Wing; Release Restraint Wave; Sunlight Unicorn; Gaap the Divine Soldier; Ancient Sacred Wyvern

[collapse]

Ancient Sacred Wyvern is a bit situational, but nice. Because it gains, or more importantly loses, attack based on my opponents and my HP, it can either be really good, or a piece of garbage.

Though for soone like Janina, who has over 100,000 HP, Ancient Sacred Wyvern would be overpowered as anything. We will just have to find out if she can sohow emulate Card Summoner.

And if she can, she can then summon Ancient Sacred Wyvern, and then she can use her own skills to copy the powerboost Ancient Sacred Wyvern gets from its effect to get stupidly powerful.

… Yeah. She will break all sense of balance even worse than she already has. Let’s just move onto the next pack.

Spoiler

ANPR 5

Morphtronic Magnen Bar; Blackwing - Fane the Steel Chain; Flamvell Counter; Scary Moth; Rekindling; Imperial Custom; Ard Sea Hunter; Hydro Pressure Cannon; Pseudo Space

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

ANPR 7

Genetic Woman; Divine Dragon Aquabizarre; Darksea Float; Water Hazard; At One With the Sword; Scary Moth; XX-Saber Ragigura; Koa'ki iru Hydro Barrier; Turbo Rocket

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

ANPR 8

Flamvell Counter; Morphtronic Magnen Bar; Sunny Pixie; White Potan; A Major Upset; Release Restraint Wave; Brain Research Lab; Ancient Crimson Ape; Koa'ki iru Speeder

[collapse]

Nothing new, next.

Spoiler

ANPR 9

At One With the Sword; Cyborg Doctor; Ancient Leaf; Darksea Float; Scary Moth; Blackwing - Fane the Steel Chain; Silver Wing; Fishborg Blaster; Arcana Knight Joker

[collapse]

Arcana Knight Joker is new and I like it. Good attack, good effect, and he looks humanoid, so I can use him wherever I want.

One last Ancient Prophecy pack before I switch sets.

Spoiler

ANPR 10

Battle of the Elents; Ergency Assistance; Blackwing - Fane the Steel Chain; Sunny Pixie; Hydro Pressure Cannon; Ancient Crimson Ape; Iron Core Luster; Shark Cruiser; Core Reinforcent

[collapse]

Core Reinforcent is new. Sadly it isn’t all that good as a card, but at the sa ti, I might be able to reverse engineer so useful stuff from it. Maybe I can reinforce the True core of HoBase to make it more powerful.

But that is just a maybe. Because now it is ti for a set switch. So Stardust Overdrive ti.

Spoiler

SOVR 1

Solitaire Magician; Enlightennt; Spiritual Forest; Synchro Barrier; Oshaleon; Ti Passage; Molting Escape; Limit Impulse; Fortune Lady Earth

[collapse]

Spiritual Forest is new and it is pretty nice. Going to be making a Factory room with it, but even outside of that, it does protect any Beast, Beast-Warrior, or Plant-Type monsters from battle once per turn. Admittedly ‘once per turn’ is a questionable tifra, but it is still a useful card.

Because it should protect beast-folk as well. And that is nice. So after I Factory test the card, I’ll probably give copies to Einar, Eline and Unika.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 2

Reptilianne Gorgon; Savage Colosseum; Iron Core Armor; Stygian Dirge; Infernity Force; Attack Pheromones; Spyder Spider; Limit Impulse; Dark Rabbit

[collapse]

Iron Core Armor is new, but it is pretty bad.

And Dark Rabbit is a trash vanilla that could have co out in Legend of Blue-Eyes, not this set. That is because it ca out in OCG vol.5. It is one of the first 230 cards ever released in the OCG. The TCG just took forever to import the card.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 3

Earthbound Wave; Limit Impulse; Attack Pheromones; Slip Summon; Woodland Archer; Reptilianne dusa; Bending Destiny; Koa'ki iru Sea Panther; Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate

[collapse]

Earthbound Wave is new, and it is okay. Counter Traps that negate stuff are fine, even if Earthbound Wave does require the control of an Earthbound Immortal monster.

Bending Destiny is okay. Kind of situational and specific, but it isn’t terrible.

And Catoblepas and the Witch of Fate is the sa. Specific and situational, but with a decent effect.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 4

Solitaire Magician; Reptilianne Viper; Level Eater; Molting Escape; Quickdraw Synchron; Appointer of the Red Lotus; Ti Passage; Gemini Counter; Lord British Space Fighter

[collapse]

Level Eater is great. … in the TCG. For , not so much. But if it can eat the levels of others, then maybe.

Quickdraw Synchron is a good tuner. Sure I don’t need the special summoning effect, but even outside of it, it is nice.

Gemini Counter is okay, but a bit costly.

And Lord British Space Fighter is, as it says in the na, a space fighter. It also has an effect to summon tokens, attack again, or destroy a set Spell/Trap, so it is pretty nice. I’ll have to tune one up for personal use, or maybe I’ll give one to soone.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 5

Limit Impulse; Ground Spider; Woodland Archer; Oshaleon; Infernity Necromancer; Solitaire Magician; Spider Web; Herculean Power; Rinyan, Lightsworn Rogue

[collapse]

Rinyan, Lightsworn Rogue is cute, and her effect makes Pack tokens. So she is a good kitty, and I’ll summon her later to give her so pets.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 6

Herculean Power; Savage Colosseum; Molting Escape; Appointer of the Red Lotus; Gemini Booster; Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Synchro Barrier; Djinn Releaser of Rituals; Shutendoji

[collapse]

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing is super situational, and not really all that good.

Djinn Releaser of Rituals is OP in the TCG. Sadly limiting ‘special summons’ isn’t really useful at all, so while I will use it, it isn’t nearly as amazing as it is in the TCG.

And Shutendoji is okay, I suppose. It can make Pack tokens by banishing Zombies. It is also a secret rare, so in that regard, it is a nice pull.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 7

Spider Egg; Synchro Barrier; Woodland Archer; Slip Summon; Savage Colosseum; Enlightennt; Stygian Dirge; Roar of the Earthbound Immortal; Lord British Space Fighter

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

SOVR 8

Reptilianne dusa; Gemini Counter; Enlightennt; Solitaire Magician; Reptilianne Scylla; Bending Destiny; Gemini Booster; Earthbound Immortal Uru; Raging Mad Plants

[collapse]

I got a giant spider. Earthbound Immortal Uru is my third Earthbound Immortal, and it is nice. It can take control of an opposing monster, or person. Sure the effect is temporary, but it is still nice.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 9

Ti Passage; Ground Spider; Savage Colosseum; Energy Bravery; Reptilianne Spawn; Roar of the Earthbound Immortal; Reptilianne dusa; Solitaire Magician; Shine Palace

[collapse]

Shine Palace is new. And a 700 attack boost is decent. But it kind of falls into the sa category as Dark Rabbit where it should have co out ages ago. And it probably did in the OCG, but TCG was just taking its sweet ti.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 10

Faustian Bargain; Ti Passage; Tuned Magician; Enlightennt; Infernity Necromancer; Synchro Barrier; Solitaire Magician; Majestic Dragon; Shine Palace

[collapse]

That is all repeats, but I guess a second Majestic Dragon is fine to have.

This is also the halfway point, with Stardust Overdrive. Ten more packs to go.

Spoiler

SOVR 11

Iron Core Armor; Appointer of the Red Lotus; Ritual Buster; Roar of the Earthbound Immortal; Reptilianne Gorgon; Oshaleon; Savage Colosseum; Dark Spider; Shine Palace

[collapse]

Nothing new here, but Shine Palace clearly wants to shine, as it has been in all of the last three packs.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 12

Insect Neglect; Reptilianne Scylla; Koa'ki iru Sea Panther; Energy Bravery; Spider Web; Solitaire Magician; Moray of Greed; Faustian Bargain; Inherited Fortune

[collapse]

Inherited Fortune is new, but it is trash, so let’s just go to the next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 13

Gemini Spark; Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Infernity Force; Oshaleon; Stygian Dirge; Regulus; Insect Neglect; Reptilianne Viper; Fortune Lady Wind

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

SOVR 14

Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Reptilianne Viper; Level Eater; Limit Impulse; Insect Neglect; Herculean Power; Ground Spider; Zero Gardna; tabo-Shark

[collapse]

tabo-Shark is new, and it is … okay. Again, not amazing, but not terrible either.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 15

Tuned Magician; Insect Neglect; Gemini Counter; Spiritual Forest; Spyder Spider; Swap Frog; Herculean Power; Dark Spider; Djinn Releaser of Rituals

[collapse]

Swap Frog is new. And it isn’t that good. For .

So next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 16

Moray of Greed; Enlightennt; Regulus; Infernity Force; Reptilianne Viper; Reptilianne Gorgon; Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Level Eater; Fortune Lady Dark

[collapse]

Fortune Lady Dark is new, and like the other Fortune Ladies, I like her. Not because she is actually all that good, but because I just like her design.

Next pack.

Spoiler

SOVR 17

Spider Web; Energy Bravery; Appointer of the Red Lotus; Herculean Power; Spider Egg; Ground Spider; Iron Core Armor; Dark Spider; Shine Palace

[collapse]

Nothing new here, next.

Spoiler

SOVR 18

Limit Impulse; Dark Spider; Attack Pheromones; Energy Bravery; Faustian Bargain; Solitaire Magician; Reptilianne dusa; Synchro Barrier; Shine Palace

[collapse]

Nothing new, next.

Spoiler

SOVR 19

Regulus; Spyder Spider; Stygian Dirge; Gemini Booster; Wolf in Sheep's Clothing; Infernity Force; Bending Destiny; Energy Bravery; Reptilianne Poison

[collapse]

Reptilianne Poison is new, and it is alright. Not crazy good, but not bad either.

Last pack. Hopefully I can get one more new card.

Spoiler

SOVR 20

Swap Frog; Iron Core Armor; Level Eater; Reptilianne Spawn; Spider Web; Earthbound Wave; Ritual of Grace; Dark Spider; Gemini Scorpion

[collapse]

Well, I got what I wanted. Gemini Scorpion is new. And it is another alright card. Sadly it is Gemini support and most Gemini monsters suck, but Scorpion is okay.

Overall a decent opening, I’d say. Ancient Sacred Wyvern, Arcana Knight Joker and Earthbound Immortal Uru are all great cards to have in my Collection.

But let summon my new cat, Rinyan. Give her so pets while I keep working on my smartphone design. I don’t think I’ll have it ready by the new year, but eventually I’ll get it done.

I an, I already figured out the regular phone from Morphtronic Celfon, so a smartphone is only a matter of ti.
