CH.443 Miasma Dositer

I guess I’ll start this chapter off the sa way as last one. Well, this is more of an update on my teleporting capabilities.

I can now reliably use Teleport to Seal without losing parts of myself, but bringing objects with is still a bit questionable. And no, I haven’t tried with another person yet, but after I get the teleport with an object down, I will.

I’ve also been trying Short Teleport. As I said in the last chapter, it is a bit more advanced, because I have to use my vision to basically calculate the relative coordinates I want to teleport to. Figuring that part out wasn’t too bad, especially since Laura can help calculate the coordinates, so Short Teleport wasn’t that much more than Teleport to Seal.

And once I get that down to the point where it is 100% percent reliable, I can teleport behind soone and Omae Wa Mou Shindeiru them.

But yeah. Teleportation … is difficult. I always took it for granted because of HoBase, but it really isn’t as simple as commanding a dungeon to do it for you.

Other than that, one more important thing has co to be. And it is sothing related to the dinsional fissures. And no, a new one isn’t going to appear, as far as I know.

But instead, this one is about the dinsional barrier observers I set all across the Kingdom when I planted all of those flower beds. They have finally collected enough data where the WDBDD can be made. And yes, I still haven’t renad the weakening dinsional barrier detection device. Sure it could be called the dinsional fissure detector, but I’m not sure that is much better. Or maybe the miasma blob detector, as officially I do call dinsional fissures miasma blobs.

And since I did officially call the original ones miasma detectors, maybe I should call them sothing related to that.

Like … Miasma Spike Detectors? … that doesn’t sound all that good.

Miasma Dositer? Would that work? I know miasma isn’t radiation, but it isn’t like the people in this world know what radiation is.

Yeah. I think I like the na miasma dositer, or MD for short. … No. That won’t work. MD could also stand for mana detector, or a million other things. It is a bit too generic. MsDm? I think that is better, but … I don’t know.

I just need a simple na for it, so that when the miasma dositer at a guild spikes, they can send a ssage that their dositer is spiking, which could be a pre-sign of a fissure.

And even if it isn’t a pre-sign for a fissure, sothing strange will still be going on in that area for the miasma to spike. Be it a monster evolution or a miasma storm.

I guess I can explain that away very quickly. Miasma storm is exactly what it sounds like. It is an abnormal amount of miasma circling around an area, causing multiple monsters to evolve and likely go on a rampage. Because of that, miasma storms often lead to monster stampedes.

Usually miasma doesn’t cause a storm like that, as it is just slowly pulled towards the closest dungeon, but sotis strange things can happen.

But miasma storms aren’t all bad either. Because sotis, instead of having monsters evolve, they cause a dungeon to form. But again, that is like a 1% chance in a 1% chance, so I wouldn’t exactly consider it a reliable way of making new dungeons.

Anyway. Miasma storms and shortened nas aside, I’ll finish the prototype for my miasma dositer and head over to the Dragon’s coast. Lady Janina can help test it.

And yes. I did get her to admit that she does use miasma as a way of boosting her power. But she doesn’t want to teach how to do that, as it can be incredibly dangerous, even with the protection of the System. At least not yet. Not until I know how to protect myself without having to rely on the System.

Naturally coming to the Dragon’s coast ans playti with the dragons, which I’m always happy to do.

And because I got Simorgh, Bird of Ancestry recently, I decided to go with all Winged Beasts today. Raiza the Storm Monarch, Roc from the Valley of Haze, Storm Shooter, Sacred Phoenix of Nephthys and my two Simorghs being the six monsters I summoned.

While the birds played with the dragons, Lady Janina helped test out the miasma dositer. And it was working perfectly.

When the background miasma is at normal levels, which I took from the data the miasma blob detectors collected, the device will give a reading of 1.0. If the levels go down, the reading goes down towards zero, but if the levels go up, the number goes up.

The standard deviation is about 0.1, so anything between 0.9 to 1.1 is perfectly normal. If the numbers go lower than 0.9, that could an a few things. Mainly a new dungeon has ford and has thrown the miasma balance off, or maybe there is sothing that can draw miasma to itself. Which could be a monster undergoing a longer evolution.

So while miasma going down isn’t itself a bad thing, it is sothing you should investigate, as it could be a sign of sothing bad. But also good, because new dungeons are always good.

On the other hand if the levels go up … well, I already explained miasma storms, so I don’t think I need to repeat myself.

“Alright, Brian. We played with your little toy. Now it is ti for so training.” Lady Janina said, after we tested the miasma dositer. “And since you are here, we are doing sothing special today. Get out that card of yours. The one that turns you into a dragon.”

“Okay..?” I sowhat questioned Lady Janina’s idea, because outside of the first ti, she has never ordered to use DNA Surgery. In fact, she said I shouldn’t use it, so that I don’t beco reliant on it. But since she ordered to use it, I will.

So I activated DNA Surgery, picking Dragon, and both of us transford into our dragon forms.

But my DNA Surgery dragon form was a bit different from my Draconic Body dragon form. With DNA Surgery in play, my dragon form is just slightly more pronounced, and I even have a nice pair of wings, which I don’t currently have, unless I really focus with Draconic Body.

Wings are difficult, okay? Extra limbs are always a challenge. A tail is sowhat instinctual, but wings not so much.

{Good. Now, we will get you used to your wings. And consider yourself lucky I’m not taking you to the skies and throwing you down to do that. Because I know you’d just use so skill instead of the wings. So instead, you are going to be running a quick course. Without using any skills.}

Lady Janina then used so Earth Magic to make a basic obstacle course. It had plenty of long jumps, which would be impossible without at least gliding with my wings.

{Well, you may use your Draconic skills, but other than that, no skills.}

{... You do realize that Mana Control is a skill.}

{Humans and your skills. Do you need a skill for everything? Next you’ll tell that you have a skill for breathing.}

{There is one for breathing underwater.}

{That I can’t bla you on. Even dragons, except water dragons, need to learn how to breathe underwater.}

{But you aren’t buying yourself any more ti! Get on that course and you’d better make good ti.} Lady Janina commanded. {Or next ti, I’ll co up with sothing worse to make you stronger.}

I naturally did as ordered. Not because I was really scared of what would happen, but because I did want to get better. And I love my draconic skills, so I definitely want to get better with them.

The course was difficult, mainly because of the ‘no skills’ rule. Because of that, I couldn’t assist my movent with Telekinesis or Mana Flight.

But I was able to compensate for that with a bit of Draconic Magic. Mainly a type of body reinforcent magic called Draconic Boost. It might be just a slight stat buff, but even that helps.

Trying to glide with my wings on the other hand … well, it was sothing. I could do it, but … it is like giving a hand glider and expecting to know how to use it straight away.

aning that I fell more than once. But it did make realize that I need more training like this. And what I an by that is training that doesn’t rely on my already existing skills that much.

I an, when I got Tough Claws, Rending Claws and Mana Blade, I wasn’t actively using any skill, except Mana Control. But often when I train, I just use three to four skills at the sa ti. I just need to realize that focused training is best training.

After running the course a sufficient number of tis, Lady Janina had deactivate DNA Surgery. That naturally resulted in transforming back into a human, only to be ordered to transform right back, and this ti, I’d better have my wings.

And indeed I did have my wings. I don’t know if it was because I got used to them during the last hour and half or just the pressure of not disappointing Lady Janina, but I had my wings and it was nice.

I then ran the obstacle course again and it was just a bit more difficult than before. Because I still had to focus on keeping my dragon form. Using a skill, even one that is basically a transformation, does take a bit of effort, so I had to use a bit of focus on that.

But at the sa ti, I was now used to the course, so I didn’t have to use Draconic Boost any more. I was also better at gliding and didn’t fall on my snout as many tis.

By the ti we finally finished, I was tired and ready to go ho, but I did have sothing to leave here. A seal plate for my Teleport to Seal spell. It will just be nice to have.

So I handed one to Lady Janina and asked her to put it into a place I can teleport to.

After that, largely because the supre dragon was basically challenging to do it, I decided to be dumb and teleport ho with Teleport to Seal. I knew it was a bad idea, so I made sure to warn Lua before I did it, but I still decided to just go for it.

YOLO, right? Unless Monster Reborns are involved. Then you can live multiple tis.

“Space, Take to the place I’ve marked, Teleport to Seal.” I chanted, before I disappeared from the Dragon coast.

And like I sowhat predicted, sothing went wrong with the teleport.

Because for so reason, I’m in the air falling towards the ground. But at least I didn’t seem to be injured.

I quickly used Draconic Body and turned into my dragon form, before using my wings to turn my fall into a controlled glide.

I then looked around, realizing that I was very close to Alewatch, and when I looked up, I saw HoBase floating where I’d left it.

Using a mix of my wings and Mana Flight, I flew upwards towards HoBase and eventually landed.

Basically as soon as I did, I got a people running to . Lua was coming to make sure I was okay, and Magie had sothing she urgently needed to say.

“Master Brian. Soone tried to use a long range spell on HoBase. Likely a spying spell of so kind. It was blocked by the barrier, and diverted, but you need to know it happened.”

“Oh? So that is why my teleport failed.” I said, mostly to myself.

“Your teleport?” Magie questioned.

“Yeah. I tried to return ho with Teleport to Seal, but instead I ended up outside the HoBase barrier. I didn’t even consider it because I can teleport here with the dungeon. But yeah, the barrier wouldn’t be able to identify if I use long range teleportation magic. Sothing I need to work on.”

“Ah! I see. Good to know, Master. I shall inform Endy of this.”

“Yeah. Make sure we don’t have any ergency forces deployed because of my mistake or sothing.” I told her.

I then had Lua check over, and she was sufficiently happy that my impulsive tendencies didn’t cause any harm. But she was still disappointed that I decided to teleport from that far of a distance. Without telling anyone.

I ended the day by checking my status, because I had a feeling at least sothing had changed.
