CH.400 Light and Dark
“Brian! Alice! You did it! Thalassa said you managed to wake up Ninatia.” Cailie flew at us, as Alice and I got out of Victory Viper and congratulated us.
“And you woke up Thalassa. How did it go?”
“... it was… easy, but I didn’t like it.” Cailie said. “With Lua’s help, I perford a ritualistic song of the Nixie clan. … I know it well, but I hated doing it.”
“But thankfully Thalassa still woke up.” Lua added. “She even offered her blessing to us, but …”
“I refused it. I … I don’t want to be blessed for that performance.”
“I did accept. Rain was a little disappointed, but she understood.” Lua said.
“Yeah. I suppose a blessing from a superior spirit would overwrite the blessing of a greater spirit.”
“Yes. Thalassa might have threatened to drown the spirit world if she couldn’t give one of us her blessing, so Rain had to give in. And the only reason she couldn’t force her blessing onto Cailie was because Anemoi appeared and stopped her.”
“... Is she insane or sothing? Drowning the spirit world? The other spirits have been actually quite nice, so I really didn't think one of them would threaten sothing like that. How was her domain anyway?”
“About what you’d expect. It was a gigantic lake, larger than the one around the Hero’s country.” Lua answered.
“A lake? Not a sea?”
“Sea water has too many salts and minerals, making it too earthy. That is how Thalassa answered when I asked her that question.”
“Well, to each their own.” I then turned to all the spirits that hang around us, mainly the light spirits that have started to appear. But strangely, there were also a handful of dark spirits. The reason why that is strange is because usually spirits of opposing attributes don’t go to the domains of their opposite spirits. “Can you tell us where the resting place of the superior spirit of light is?”
“Everywhere!” One of the lesser light spirits called out. “Nowhere!” Another one added.
““She rests in the light!”” Multiple spirits then said at the sa ti.
“... okay. So she is everywhere the light touches. So lion king BS right there.” I muttered. “So, do you know what kinds of songs she likes?”
“Sorry to interrupt.” A voice called out, as a plant blood right next to us, before taking on the form of a spirit. “But Eosther is kind of a special case. She and Nyx, the superior dark, have a strange relationship. They share this domain. As such, you should wake both of them up with one song.” Vine told us. “If you don’t, chaos will follow.”
“... well, challenge mode engaged, I guess. We were just getting too familiar with this.”
“It is also good practice before Ti and Space. Those two will also need to be awakened at the sa ti.” Vine warned .
“Can you at least tell what we should sing about? And what kind of tone should the song have?”
“I thought you learned that when you said you’d take care of Fire with Alice.” Lady Janina cut in. “Why don’t you think about it the sa as you did with fire?”
“I probably could do it if it was just Light, but for both Light and Dark…”
“That is what makes it easy. For a topic, take sothing dark, but sing about it in a light way. Your song should be the sa. Dark slow parts, but also faster, lighter parts.” Lady Janina said.
“... you know a lot about spirits, huh.”
“Or I just happen to like the Light attribute the best. Call it a preference. It made look into them more. And Dark is Light’s balance. The brighter the light, the sharper the shadow and all of that, so I had to learn about Dark as well.”
“... Alright. So sothing dark, but in a lighter tone, but also has to have so dark parts.” I recapped what Lady Janina said, and began thinking back on songs I rember from Earth.
After so ti thinking, and a quick hide and seek session with the lesser light and dark spirits, I think I have a song in mind. We’ll have to alter the lyrics, but that isn’t anything new at this point.
And no, the dark spirits aren’t as OP in hide and seek as you might think. You just have to look for shadows and because of the nature of the spirit world, it really isn’t that difficult. This place is naturally bright and oversaturated, so darker spots are quite easy to spot.
The light spirits were actually the more difficult ones. They would just turn the places they hid in slightly brighter, so you really had to pay attention. Luckily Alice realized that if she uses Shade, all of the light spirits will glow and reveal themselves. Sure it is a bit cheaty, but we didn’t have rules against using magic.
But enough about the spirits, let’s get onto the song. This ti, I wanted to perform it as a duet between Alice and Lua. And not just because I’m trying to manipulate the spirits that are sleeping to give their blessings to Alice and Lua. … okay, that is exactly why. I an, Alice with a blessing from the superior dark spirit just sounds great, and Lua could use the one from the light spirit.

And with our song coming to an end, two beings also ca to be next to us.
The beams of light coming together, and forming a solid humanoid form.
As well as the tiny shadows, all gathering into a humanoid form.
“Ah. What a lovely song to wake up to.” The light spirit said.
“... It was clearly for , not for you.” Dark quipped.
“It was for !”
“For !” The two argued.
“Oh shut up. Can’t you two ever not fight?” A third voice asked, as a spirit made of solidified flas chopped the back of the head of the light spirit, while a muscular woman who almost looked like she was made of earth did the sa to the dark spirit. They then took a hold of the spirits, as if expecting an outburst.
““You are not the mother of us, Anemoi!”” Both the light and dark said at the sa ti.
“I don’t have to be.” The superior wind spirit answered. “I’m just here to make sure you don’t harm my new daughter or her friends.”
The light and dark spirits then looked around, realizing that all four of the elental superior spirits had co here to control them after they awakened.
“... Really? All of you?” Light asked.
“Why not? I’ve slept for long enough. So exercise will do good.” Gaia stated.
“And the burning passion of love will always call over.” Ninatia said.
“... I don’t really care.” Thalassa said. “I just didn’t want to be left out.”
“... Gaia. I’ll behave, so can you let go of .” Dark requested.
“Fine, but you better behave.” Gaia said, as she let go of the dark spirit.
The light spirit on the other hand was still struggling in the hands of Ninatia, so she didn’t want to get loose just yet. But apparently one of us didn’t like how she was acting, as Lady Janina walked up to her.
“Can you behave?” She asked the spirit.
“And who are you to, AARG!” Before the spirit finished her sentence, Lady Janina raised her hand and flicked her forehead.
“Rember who I am now?” Lady Janina asked. “Ninatia, you can let her go now.” She said to the fire spirit.
After she was released, the light spirit fell on the ground, before bringing one hand to hold her forehead where she got flicked.
“... Why are you here? You jerk ass…”
“Do you need another flick?” Lady Janina asked, bringing her hand to the light spirit's forehead.
“N-No! I’ll … I’ll be good.” She quickly said. “... but why are you here, Lady Supre Dragon?”
“I’m just Brian’s dinsional transport. And besides, can’t I visit an old friend?”
“... I don’t know if we are friends.”
“Friends, rivals, whatever you want to call us. It is all the sa to .”
“... I guess … I guess I do prefer friends. It hurts less.”
“Good.” Lady Janina said, and turned her palm so that the light spirit could catch her hand. “I know it has been a while, but I’m glad you still see as a friend.”
The light spirit then took Lady Janina’s hand and the dragon helped the spirit back up.
“My na is Eosther.” The light spirit introduced herself.
“I’m Nyx.” The dark said. “... and thanks for the wakeup. If you want my blessing … I’ll give it.”
“I shall as well.” Eosther said.
We agreed to the suggestion. Alice and I both took Nyx’s blessing, while Lua and I both took Eosther’s blessing. … God. I just realized. I now have a blessing from 4 superior spirits. And I really would like to get the blessings from Space and Ti, so if I manage to get them, that will be 6. That’s a lot.
Well, it isn’t like it will hurt, so I’ll take it.
With all of the attribute spirits now awakened, we decided to call it a day. Or I suppose a night. So all of us, Cailie included, huddled around Lady Janina and she took us back to HoBase.
Waking up there, the first thing I did … okay the second thing after a good morning kiss to Alice and Lua, was heading to Cailie’s evolution tank. With her soul returning, all of the everything that has happened to her will co full force to her body. She will evolve, and most likely double evolve, so I need to make sure her evolution tank is set up to handle that. Okay, it already is, but I need to check the potency of the healing liquid inside. It might not be potent enough for a double evolution.
On the way, a few of my monsters in avatar dolls greeted . Laura also inford that it was currently about 5 am, and that I’m about to experience so symptoms of level up sickness myself, because apparently my Mana Control evolved. And that along with the titles and skills I got boosted my status quite a bit. I had Laura warn Alice and Lua that the sa might happen to them as well. None of us would go into full on level up sleep, but we will feel groggy for the day, kind of like I did back when my Inventory evolved into Storage.
After checking over Cailie’s evolution tank, confirming that her soul was safely inside her body and boosting the potency of the healing liquid inside, I was sure she was going to be just fine. It was good to have her soul back where it belongs.
I then decided that I hadn’t slept enough last night, so I headed back to bed for a nice nap, before breakfast.
