Chapter 97: Peacock
The best word to describe the Mayor’s Engagent Party would be "Bloodbath."
Had we been in ancient tis, heads would probably be flying indiscriminately.
Alyssa watched with rapt attention. She wanted to see it live, so she disguised herself as a waitress for the event.
"I think Alyssa’s developing a new hobby. Any more of this, and she’ll end up a cosplayer." Rina ntioned, her head tilted as she scrutinized Alyssa through the screen.
"Or a con man. A cosplayer would be too pure for what that girl has used her disguises for." I tell her, now understanding what Alyssa ant when she said she has long prepared for sothing like this.
We may have been calmly discussing disguises and cosplaying, but what was playing was a modern take on dramatic telenovelas.
The party started strong, with Joseph displaying himself like a peacock. He looked extrely proud as if success were already in the bag.
"Riri, when you have your engagent party, what about skipping video presentations?" I looked at her as if I wasn’t the one to suggest this.
She gave
a side-eye and retorted, "Out of everyone I know, you’re the one fondest of weaponizing event videos. And who says I’m getting engaged?!" Now she’s angry, realizing what I ant late.
I shrugged because she was right. This would be the second ti I’m doing this.
"But Boss, isn’t that great? You have a knack for discovering and exposing cheaters." Mitchel said as he stopped tapping on his phone. This earned him a glare from Lucian, but Mitchel, being his fabulous self, just pretended that no such thing had happened.
So Lucian looked at , but heck if I could control that guy, so I just returned his look with a shrug.
"You’re right, though. I seem to have the skills to catch cheaters red-handed." I looked at Lucian aningfully, but by now, he should know I was just kidding.
"Don’t even bother, I’m too swamped dealing with all this shit to even consider it."
"HAHAHAHA!" I laughed because he had really been busy dealing with my shit. The funny thing is that I stopped feeling bad about it.
With a big smile on my face, I teased him a bit, "Rember, you did ask for it!"
And Lucian really did, though not to the extent that Joseph asked for this blood rain.
The expression on his face had turned extrely grave, and he was probably wondering why such a thing would be happening on such a grand day.
But of course! No better day than today!
Joseph asked for retribution when he started touching the lives of all those innocent people. But he triggered it too soon when he denied our permit.
"He would’ve survived had he left our permit alone."
The screen displayed a hysterical father and a mother who had fainted upon seeing their daughter’s fiance in all his naked glory.
Everyone watched as he pounded his secretary in spliced-together clips. The dates on each clip showed that the relationship had been going on for a long ti.
For a ti, the whole venue was silent, and people just looked dumbfounded, unsure of what they were seeing.
Joseph’s secretary clutched onto the table, her eyes so wide they were practically saucers. But she remained silent until her video slot finished, and a slew of different girls followed.
Then all hell broke loose as she scread, her voice piercing the bubble that enveloped everyone earlier.
She kept on screaming, "Cheater!
