Night, so thick it turns black, so heavy as water.
Fengchi Yan sat on the lawn of the rcenaries’ Free Base, waiting for the arrival of an airplane.
One hand held a cell phone; the other clasped a cigarette.
He rarely smoked, but that night, he broke his own habits again and again. The man, once renowned for his patience, had now reached his breaking point, with waiting becoming the most torturous ordeal.

Luo Xi hung up the phone and sat under the night sky; she had never made a single call to Fengchi Yan, even though she knew that this man was concerned about her at this very mont.
