May Morgan politely nodded at him, first glanced at his leg, and then asked with concern, "How is your leg doing?"
"Much better. The doctor said that in a few days, I can have the plaster removed. Then, I’ll be able to move freely."
"That’s good." For so reason, perhaps her mindset had changed, or for so other reason, this ti when eting Adam Owens, May Morgan clearly felt that her feelings for this man had grown distant.
The feeling of being able to talk about anything seed to have irretrievably vanished.
No, that’s not right. It’s not that she couldn’t have heart-to-heart conversations with Adam Owens anymore; rather, she could talk about anything with Vincent Vance. Maybe she had just transferred her feelings to Vincent.
"You, you should sit down. Don’t stand there."
Seeing May Morgan standing at the door, Adam Owens quickly indicated for her to sit on the chair.
May Morgan nodded and sat quietly, while Adam Owens’ eyes were always on her face. Several tis he seed like he wanted to say sothing, but ended up holding back. May Morgan noticed his hesitation and looked at him, at this still kind and simple man, unable to accept that he could have betrayed her and Vincent’s movents to others.
"How is Vincent treating you?"
After hesitating several tis, Adam Owens finally couldn’t resist his feelings and asked her.
May Morgan nodded again, then suddenly looked up at Adam Owens and asked him, "Adam, did you tell anyone about the photos you saw of last ti on social dia?"
"Photos? What photos?" Adam Owens looked at May Morgan, bewildered, not sure what she was talking about.
May Morgan hesitated for a mont, then fixed her gaze on Adam Owens’ eyes, trying to discern if he was lying.
But his eyes remained clear and sincere, not resembling those of a liar.
She felt she understood Adam Owens quite well, and if he were lying to her, at the very least, he wouldn’t dare to let her look at him like this; he would have avoided her gaze.
"Rember last ti when Vincent and I went back to the hotown, and I posted a few photos online? Then you asked if I was in the hotown, and I lied, saying I had gone abroad."
To prevent any oversight, May Morgan quickly found the conversation from that day and showed it to Adam Owens.
Adam Owens examined it and looked at his phone records but found no trace of a conversation with May Morgan.
May Morgan looked at his phone records, puzzled, and her mind started to beco uncertain.
If Adam Owens wasn’t lying to her, then soone must have impersonated him, chatting with her.
But who could that person be?
After a while, Adam Owens suddenly put down his phone and asked May Morgan, "By the way, why did you suddenly bring up this question?"
May Morgan looked up at him, her eyes suddenly reddening. She spoke with a choked voice, "My grandma died; she was murdered just as Vincent and I left."
Adam Owens was shocked, and quickly grabbed her shoulders to question, "How did this happen? Have they found the murderer?"
May Morgan shook her head and sighed, "If they had found them, why would I still be asking you? Do you realize that I suspect it was those ssages that revealed Vincent and my whereabouts, endangering my grandma?"
Adam Owens was unaware of the Jade Pendant situation, so he was confused by May Morgan’s words: "I don’t quite understand what you an. If an enemy was seeking revenge on you and Vincent, why would they kill your grandma?"
There was no longer any need to hide the matter of the Jade Pendant from Adam Owens, so May Morgan told him about Arthur Vance trying to find the Jade Pendant to save his second son, Alexander Vance, and how she was kidnapped.
After hearing this, Adam Owens’ expression turned even grimr than before. He slowly released her shoulders and thoughtfully gazed out the window.
"May Morgan, I swear I haven’t been in contact with you. But rest assured, your problems are my problems too. I will help you find out who did it."
After a long silence, Adam Owens suddenly turned back to May Morgan and vowed.
May Morgan gave Adam Owens a grateful look, then stood up from the chair, intending to leave: "I need to go back now. It’s still very dangerous outside. Only Vincent’s Zenith Villa is sowhat safer now."
By now, Adam Owens understood that he couldn’t protect May Morgan all by himself. Despite his reluctance, he ultimately had to let May Morgan return.
"Be safe on your way, and if anything happens, call anyti. I, Adam Owens, will protect you even if I have to risk my life."
Adam Owens looked at May Morgan, speaking passionately.
May Morgan felt a slight pang in her heart, turned, and left the hospital room. As she walked out, she t Maxwell Vance, who looked at her with a certain animosity.
Maxwell Vance had always liked Adam Owens, sothing May Morgan understood well. But now she didn’t plan to compete with Maxwell for Adam Owens, so she felt there was no need for such hostility.
Thinking for a mont, she spoke to Maxwell Vance: "Maxwell, please take care of Adam Owens from now on."
She ant well, hoping to convey to Maxwell Vance that she was no longer involved with Adam Owens. But Maxwell Vance was indifferent to her goodwill, disdainfully insulting her: "What a joke! I’ve been taking care of Adam Owens all this ti. What right do you have to say this to ?"
May Morgan opened her mouth to speak, but Logan Vance quickly stepped in, saying: "Co on, May Morgan is just being considerate. Can’t you tell? She’s saying she won’t have any relationship with Adam Owens anymore, that he’s yours."
Maxwell Vance snorted disdainfully, "Ha, do I need her to give him up? She’s found a bigger benefactor in my brother, so of course she doesn’t care about Adam Owens anymore. But Adam Owens isn’t stupid; sooner or later, he’ll see who’s sincere and who’s not."
May Morgan took a deep breath and couldn’t help but respond to Maxwell Vance: "Do you know why I married your brother? If not for your brother’s interference, would I be apart from Adam Owens? You accuse of chasing money, but have I spent any of your brother’s money?"
"You haven’t spent any, that’s because my brother doesn’t want to give it to you. Do you really think you have enough charm to fool him? Let tell you, he only married you because of the Jade Pendant. Otherwise, who do you think you are?"
"Right, who am I? No matter who I was, I am now officially married to your brother. So, you have to call sister-in-law. Not convinced? I am your sister-in-law, and I will always overshadow you, even if you marry Adam Owens."
May Morgan genuinely didn’t want to argue too much with Maxwell Vance, though she was very overbearing and caustic. But her constant belittling and sarcasm pushed May Morgan to her limits.
