Vincent awkwardly glanced at Heather, contemplating blocking the door, but reconsidered. In public, Victor wouldn’t dare do anything to May; his actions would only make him seem petty.

"Thank you." Vincent gave a polite smile and turned back to sit on the sofa nearby.

"Mr. Vance, it’s clear that you truly like May," Heather said, her deep gaze fixed on Vincent’s face. "I’ve heard about your story with May. Everything you’ve done for her, I believe our Victor wouldn’t be able to match."

Vincent didn’t understand why Heather was telling him this, so he looked at her with a trace of confusion and asked, "What is it that Mrs. Grant wants to say?"

"I just talked to Victor. He wants to go with you to Crestwood once he’s feeling a bit better, and after much consideration, I’ve agreed."

"What? No, that’s not possible. Victor’s current health..."

Upon hearing that Victor intended to accompany them, Vincent panicked and was about to stand up from the sofa, but Heather motioned him to stay calm with a wave of her hand.

"Don’t be anxious. I have my reasons for agreeing. Victor just told that after waking up this ti, he seems to have suddenly realized that love cannot be forced. Since May refuses to be with him, it must an she doesn’t love him, but he can’t bear the thought of her dying. So, he wants to do sothing for May one last ti. Once she’s safe, he’ll let go."

Heather’s words left Vincent extrely shocked because he never imagined Victor would change his stance so quickly.

He always thought Victor would continue to entangle with May, perhaps for a lifeti, perhaps... until death.

"Well, thank you and Victor for your kindness, but I still don’t wish for your son to go. Crestwood is too dangerous; you’ve seen the horrible scene at that villa. That’s just the tip of the iceberg for Crestwood, so I advise you to persuade Victor not to get involved."

Heather sighed softly, her expression helpless. "Do you think I want my only son to take risks? The scene from that day still sends shivers down my spine. But you know how stubborn Victor is; once he’s set his mind on sothing, he won’t back down. If we don’t allow him to go, I’m afraid..."

At this point, Heather sighed again and shook her head repeatedly.

Vincent, seeing Heather’s helpless face, finally said nothing more.

He didn’t know what Victor was thinking. Maybe he truly had given up, truly wanted to do sothing for May. Or maybe he had other intentions?

But no matter what, he would never allow Victor to get involved in this trip.

His plan was already very ticulous. More of Victor wouldn’t make a difference, and less of him wouldn’t either.

May helped Victor move his hands a bit, seeing that his coordination was still fine, she reassured him, "Looks like you’re recovering well; that puts my mind at ease."

Victor looked up at May briefly, a sudden glimr of sadness flashing in his eyes. "You’re leaving, aren’t you?"

May lowered her gaze, clenching her powerless fingers, and said in a deep voice, "My health is failing. Vincent is trying to find a way for . I don’t know if I’ll return from this trip to Crestwood. If I can, that’ll be best; if I can’t, just forget about ?"

Victor reached out, wanting to pull May’s small hand, but May instinctively withdrew.

Seeing this, a hint of disappointnt flashed in his eyes.

"I thought about it. After you return from Crestwood and get rid of the curse, shall we go to France?"

"Go... to France for what?" May, thinking Victor intended to imprison her in France again, widened her eyes in shock and looked at him with terror.

Seeing May’s resistance, Victor’s heart twisted in sourness. "Don’t be like this. I have no other intention. Didn’t we get our certificates in France? We must go there to get divorced, right?"

"Go to France... for a divorce?" May thought she heard it wrong. It took a while for her to realize Victor was talking about "divorce."

Did he really agree to a divorce? He... such a stubborn person, did he really nod and let her go?

"You don’t believe ?" Victor was hurt by May’s surprised expression and suddenly beca bitter. "Do you see as an untrustworthy villain so that no matter what I say, you won’t believe it?"

"No... no. Thank you, thank you!" Uncertain of what to say, May quickly thanked Victor once she reacted.

Hearing her distant apology, Victor felt particularly uncomfortable, not wanting to let go of May. After all, he had loved her for so long, but Vincent was right; more than anything in this world, May’s life was most important.

"From now on, you can be my sister. If Vincent dares bully you, I’ll make him pay," Victor said with a nonchalant smile as he forced a cheerful face.

May’s eyes moistened. She slowly walked to Victor’s window, held his hand, and gratefully said, "Victor, when I recover from Crestwood, I will take good care of Aunt Jennings and Uncle Grant. I will treat them as my own parents."

Victor lowered his head to look at her hand gripping his and softly asked, "When do you plan to leave with Vincent?"

May thought for a mont and then honestly told Victor, "We already went to Crestwood once with a Mr. Drake, but after seeing him, I felt sothing was off. Then you fell ill, and I had Vincent bring back to save you. Later, I did so checking and found out that Mr. Drake is my long-lost grandfather."

"So... are you still going to Crestwood now?" Hearing that May’s story was sowhat peculiar, Victor couldn’t help but get nervous.

May pondered for a bit before telling Victor, "It depends on what Vincent thinks. My dad has t my grandfather, and Vincent plans to take him to confront my grandfather, but nobody knows how it’ll turn out..."

Not wanting Victor to worry, May smiled, releasing his hand, and comforted him, "Don’t overthink it. Vincent has arranged everything; we’ll be fine."

Will they be fine? That terrifying old woman hadn’t died, Logan was still missing, and now May’s grandfather had appeared out of nowhere. Victor feared that this journey to Crestwood might be perilous.

"I have to go back now. I’ll call you if anything cos up. Rember to do more rehabilitation exercises for a quicker recovery."

After talking with Victor for a while, May decided to leave. Originally intending to discuss going to Crestwood with her, Victor changed his mind and didn’t ntion it.
