If this is really the case, then his appearance is by no ans accidental.
"Could this person be your grandfather?"
Since May Morgan’s grandfather never appeared in the photo, Vincent Vance speculated, could this person be the man missing from the family photo, May Morgan’s grandfather?
After all, the placent of this photo is particularly strange. If there’s no special significance, why would May’s grandmother hide young Mr. Drake’s photo behind the family photo?
May Morgan had never t her grandfather growing up and rarely heard her grandmother or anyone else ntion him, so her impression of him was vague, or even nonexistent.
"I don’t know, maybe only my father can confirm if this person is my grandfather."
As a granddaughter, she may not have t her grandfather, but as a son, he certainly had t his father. May Morgan thought for sure Mason Morgan knew.
Upon hearing this, Vincent Vance started pondering over the photograph.
His initial intention was to return to Crestwood as soon as May Morgan felt better, to swiftly remove the Dragon Insect from her body. But now that there’s a sudden major turn of events, he felt that venturing to Crestwood might require more caution.
If Mr. Drake indeed knew the Morgan family, his appearance must have a very direct purpose. If he rashly followed him into the mountains, it could lead to a total defeat.
Perhaps May Morgan was right. Finding Mason Morgan and confirming Mr. Drake’s identity first would not be a bad idea.
"You rest first, call if you need anything, I’m going to find a way to contact your dad."
Once Vincent Vance made up his mind, he comforted May Morgan and then turned to leave the bedroom.
Mason Morgan had been missing for a long ti now; finding him wouldn’t be easy. However, the last ti May was kidnapped, it was him who did it, and he collaborated with Logan Vance at the ti, so maybe he’s still in Crestwood?
Vincent Vance thought for a bit, then made a call to Director Lawson in Crestwood to check recent long-distance records to see if Mason Morgan was there.
Due to Mason Morgan’s mother’s situation at the ti, he had always been a wanted criminal, his case never closed, which ant if he took a long-distance bus, he could easily be recognized.
Director Lawson considered this and told Vincent Vance that Mason’s likelihood of coming to Crestwood was low. Mason Morgan, who had a fondness for leisure, suffered a huge setback in Crestwood last ti, almost dying there. He never liked Crestwood’s rural backwaters, otherwise he wouldn’t have abandoned his wife and daughter and left. The biggest possibility was that he was still in Silverwood City.
Since he’s still in Silverwood City, the task beca much more manageable, and Vincent Vance imdiately sent out over ten people to search for Mason Morgan’s whereabouts.
In less than half a day, the man was found.
It turned out Mason Morgan, having heard that Vincent Vance took May Morgan to Crescent, thought they’d not return for a while. Fearing to offend Vincent, and worried Vincent might trouble him, he planned to sell the family’s villa in the anti and skip town with the money. But before he could sell the property, Vincent’s n caught him.
When Mason Morgan was caught by Vincent Vance’s n at Zenith Villa, he thought they ca to settle old scores. Upon seeing Vincent, his legs went weak from fear and he knelt down with a thud.
"Young Master Vance, please be magnanimous and forgive this ti. I was wrong, I won’t dare anymore."
Vincent Vance was aware of Mason’s kidnapping of May Morgan last ti. If it weren’t for more pressing matters now, he would have troubled him long ago.
Because he needed to ask Mason more important questions, he didn’t plan to deal harshly with him.
"Don’t be nervous, I just have so questions for you!" Vincent took out the black-and-white photo and signaled Mason to look at it: "Do you know this person?"
Mason Morgan curiously took the photo and, upon glancing at it, a sly glint flashed in his eyes: "No, I don’t know him."
Vincent stared intently into his eyes and purposefully asked again, "Are you sure?"
"I’m sure, I swear. I’ve never seen this person, how could I know him? Plus, the photo is so old, I don’t even know if I was born yet."
Vincent saw that Mason was avoiding his gaze. Despite what he was saying confidently, his shifty eyes remained downcast, daring not to et his face.
"Alright then, I have another question for you. In which year did your father die? Did you ever et him?"
Vincent wasn’t giving up and pressed further.
Mason might have guessed Vincent would ask this, so he had already prepared a response. He quickly explained to Vincent, "My father passed away many years ago. I don’t really know what he looked like. I asked my mother, but she never talked about my father, so my father didn’t leave any photos or relics behind."
"Is that so?" Vincent sneered, stood up, and ca in front of Mason Morgan. Before Mason could realize it, he kicked him in the chest, almost causing Mason to black out.
Mason clutched his aching chest, looking aggrievedly up at Vincent Vance, "Young Master Vance, did I say sothing wrong? Why are you doing this to ?"
"Because you’re lying, this is your punishnt!" Vincent bent down, staring coldly at Mason’s face and said, "Did you think I’d ask you without investigating first?"
"Then... then why ask at all?" Mason, knowing he was at fault, hung his head imdiately and said begrudgingly.
"Because I wanted to give you one last chance, after May pleaded for rcy on your behalf. Unfortunately, you let down!"
Vincent glared coldly at Mason and turned to instruct his subordinates, "Take him away, drag this scoundrel to the basent, and give him a good treatnt."
Upon hearing Vincent’s command, his subordinates imdiately answered and moved to bring Mason Morgan away.
Vincent never actually contacted anyone to inquire about the Morgan family in Crestwood within such a short tifra; he was testing Mason. Seeing Mason continually avert his gaze made him realize he was trying to trick him again, so Vincent deliberately kicked him, using so violence to force him to confess.
Sure enough, Mason Morgan ate tough but not soft, Vincent’s kick imdiately made him yield. He heard Vincent say to send him downstairs for a beating, his legs weakened, he couldn’t stand.
"Young Master Vance, I’ll talk, I’ll spill everything, please don’t hit !" Mason begged on the ground, crying out in despair.
Seeing Mason find his honesty, Vincent was satisfied, returned to sit on the sofa, threw the photo in front, and threatened, "This is your last chance, if you don’t confess honestly, you’ll regret it."
