"Victor Grant, this woman is yours. Handle her as you see fit." Vincent Vance cast a displeased glance at the incorrigible lanie Morgan and turned to Victor Grant.
Victor Grant laughed, waved his large hand, and generously sent lanie away: "Young Master Vance, don’t be amused. I’m just playing with this woman. She’s not my wife, nor my lover. When did she beco my woman? If you like, Young Master Vance, feel free to take her. Do whatever you want with her, and I, Victor Grant, guarantee I won’t have a single complaint."
Victor Grant’s words were so heartless that lanie felt utterly devastated. She glanced at him in disbelief, painfully disappointed: "Victor Grant, do you call yourself a man? I have tended to you so ticulously these days, and this is how you repay ?"
Victor Grant sneered mockingly, bent down, and stared at lanie’s tear-stained face: "I’ve hired girls who served better than you. Do you really think you’re so kind of rare gem?"
With a single sentence, he plunged lanie into hell. She collapsed on the ground in despair, speechless.
Seeing this, Vincent Vance coldly questioned Victor Grant: "This woman collaborated with your people to attack my wife during the day. Should I settle this with you, or will you handle her yourself?"
Victor Grant was a smart man and naturally understood what Vincent Vance ant. He politely smiled and quickly agreed: "Whatever Young Master Vance decides, just say the word, and I’ll comply."
Vincent Vance’s lips curled into a cold smile that sent chills down one’s spine: "An eye for an eye."
"Good, let’s do it that way." Victor Grant waved his hand, signaling his n to drag lanie up and take her away: "Bring a few more brothers. Let this woman have a wild night."
Terrified, lanie turned pale, struggling desperately and shouting: "No, don’t touch , you bastards."
Just as she was being dragged out, lanie shot a venomous glare at May Morgan, causing May’s heart to tremble: "May Morgan, you bitch, I won’t let you off."
May felt a bit tense, clenching her fingers, not knowing what to say. She understood what Victor Grant implied earlier, but as a woman herself, the thought of what was happening, and it being to her sister, made her uncomfortable.
After lanie was taken out, Vincent Vance pulled May close, hugging her as he rose from the sofa: "Victor Grant, I’ll have soone return your goods to you first thing in the morning."
By this point, Victor Grant had lost his temper. He stood up politely and said, "Then I must thank Young Master Vance for his generosity."
Without another glance at him, Vincent Vance took May Morgan’s hand and left the private room.
Soon after they left, May distinctly heard her sister’s heart-wrenching screams from a nearby private room. She was startled, quickly looking back, only to see lanie at the end of the corridor, trying to escape but being dragged back inside.
"Reluctant to leave?" Vincent Vance’s deep eyes bore into May’s face as he asked.
May didn’t know how to respond. She wanted to retaliate against lanie, but not like this. She thought it was a bit cruel.
"Can’t we find another way to deal with her?" May hesitated, staring at the closed door of the private room.
"Wanna be a saint? Why don’t you take her place?" Vincent Vance pushed May with a cold face and whispered to intimidate her: "The n in that room are beasts. If you take out the woman they’re unleashing on, you’ll have to replace her. Being a saint cos at a price."
"I, I was wrong, let’s go."
Though Vincent’s words were cruel, thinking of how lanie had twice tried to kill her despicably, May suddenly felt less sorry for her.
Vincent was right; if she saved lanie today, she’d be a pathetic saint, just waiting for lanie’s even crazier revenge.
Not wanting to hear those terrifying screams any longer, May quickly turned and walked away. Vincent said nothing and silently followed.
When they got into the car, Vincent casually took a tissue, grabbed May’s hand, and began to carefully wipe away the sweat from her palm.
"So spineless, scared with just this?" Vincent teased as he wiped earnestly.
It was May’s first ti in such a place, her first ti with a gun pointed at her head, and the first ti witnessing soone being subjected to that, especially her own sister. Of course, she was sweating all over.
"I wasn’t," May retorted dryly, quickly pulling back her hand to avoid Vincent’s touch.
Vincent gazed at her flushed face, which was incredibly enticing. After a mont’s thought, he suddenly asked her: "Is there sowhere you really want to go?"
Sowhere she wants to go?
Startled, May looked at him and saw he wasn’t joking, so she thought seriously for a mont. Then her eyes lit up: "Well, there’s a music fountain at Grand Plaza today."
The fountain at Grand Plaza was on every Sunday. Adam Owens used to take her there. Back then, they were happiest and most content.
Ti flies, and after five years together, no matter how much Adam has changed, those mories remain. She can’t and doesn’t want to forget them.
It was Adam who gave her genuine warmth amidst the coldness of this unfamiliar city, even if they can’t go back. She’ll always rember that past.
Even if that man is now dead to her heart.
"Then it’s Grand Plaza." While speaking, Vincent had already turned the car towards Grand Plaza.
They arrived a bit late, and the fountain at Grand Plaza had just stopped. Disappointed, May sighed and turned to Vincent: "Forget it, let’s go back and sleep."
Vincent reached out to stroke her hair, took out his phone, and made a call. Monts later, the music fountain at Grand Plaza lit up again.
The audience, who had just been about to leave, excitedly returned upon seeing the music fountain co alive again.
Seeing this, May happily opened the door to rush towards the fountain. She stopped after a few steps, rembered Vincent, and quickly turned back.
"Together?" She grabbed his hand, gesturing for him to join her, and after a slight hesitation, Vincent joined her.
In the middle of the music fountain was a maze of jets where people could wander. May always walked through it before, and this ti was no different. Pulling Vincent, she dashed inside.
Vincent yanked her back just as half of her body went in: "What if you get soaked?"
"What’s the big deal? If I get wet, so be it. It’ll dry soon enough." May’s playful mood surged, and she couldn’t help but tease Vincent: "If you’re worried about losing your image, you can wait outside."
Vincent frowned at the massive fountain maze, worriedly asking: "What if you get lost?"
"Yeah, Adam was always with before." May thought of Adam and murmured softly.
Hearing her ntion Adam, Vincent frowned displeasedly and glared at her: "Thinking of that man again?"
Seeing his expression change, May quickly stuck out her tongue and dashed into the fountain maze: "No, not at all."
The maze fountain was crowded, and in just a blink, May vanished. Vincent hesitated for a mont before quickly following her inside.
