"Wha, what?" Audrey Vance thought she heard wrong, involuntarily widening her eyes and staring intently at Maxwell Vance’s face.
Seeing that she wasn’t hastily shifting the bla, Audrey Vance imdiately realized sothing was amiss. She quickly raised her head and shouted to the people around her: "All of you, leave now."
Hearing this, they promptly opened the door without another word and started walking out, only to see May Morgan and Victor Grant standing at the entrance, looking at them with pale faces.
"Mrs. Vance, you. Why are you here?" They exclaid in surprise upon seeing May Morgan.
The mont Audrey Vance heard the servants call May Morgan’s na, she was so startled she jumped up from her chair and looked toward the door.
Eavesdropping on the previous conversation between Maxwell Vance and Audrey, May heard everything clearly, leaving her heart in turmoil.
"May, why are you here?" Audrey Vance asked in a low voice, staring at May’s extrely angry face, overwheld with surprise.
May Morgan glanced at Audrey Vance, a faint smile appearing at the corners of her mouth: "Auntie, Maxwell has been hospitalized for so long, and I haven’t visited her yet. Today, I just had so ti, so I ca to see her."
As she spoke, she bypassed Audrey and went straight to Maxwell’s side. Seeing her now was as terrifying as seeing a ghost. Before May could get close, Maxwell, out of fear, started shaking all over, desperately moving toward the bed.
"What are you doing? Don’t co near! Don’t touch the child in my belly, stay away."
Maxwell had truly witnessed May’s terrifying nature and her knack for vengeance, so all she wanted now was to distance herself from this woman, far enough never to see her again.
May stood about a ter from Maxwell’s bed, looking at her coldly: "Don’t be afraid, I won’t hurt you. I never have. Why are you so scared of ?"
Maxwell wouldn’t believe her lies. She hadn’t hurt her directly but was notorious for using others. It was she who set up Adam Owens to push her, leading to her miscarriage. She’s back again now, but Maxwell wouldn’t believe a word from this woman anymore.
"You have a cruel heart; I won’t believe you. It was you who frad Adam Owens to push . If not for you, how would Adam and I have co to this? Don’t co near. My child is innocent; don’t hurt him." Maxwell was terrified, desperately hiding in the corner while holding her belly, fearing May would leap over and harm her child.
May glanced at Maxwell’s belly, the smile at her lips gradually turning into a sneer: "Your child is innocent, and mine wasn’t? They’re all children. Why can you hurt mine so casually, but I can’t?"
"You, you, it was my brother who told to poison your child. What does it have to do with ? Even his father doesn’t want the child; why pity him? May, your child is gone, so go find who you need to find, but don’t co at !"
At this point, Maxwell couldn’t be bothered to hide it from everyone anymore. She was tired of taking the bla. Moreover, it wasn’t easy for her to save her child. If May misunderstood again, who knows if she’d be so lucky next ti.
May took a deep breath, coldly looking at Maxwell, her voice icy: "Maxwell, you need to take responsibility for your words. I’m asking you again, was it Vincent Vance who instructed you to drug my food?"
Maxwell glanced into May’s eyes, realizing her face was full of hatred. Her confidence suddenly dwindled.
"I... I..."
"Will you confess or not? If you don’t, I’ll hold it against you for harming my child. Believe , I’ll take your child’s life right now." Seeing Maxwell hesitating and refusing to tell the truth, May, in a fit of rage, stepped toward her bed, scaring Maxwell into screaming.
Seeing this, Audrey Vance feared May might actually harm Maxwell and rushed forward to defend her, but Victor Grant quickly grabbed her and covered her mouth to stop her from calling for help.
Faced with this situation, Maxwell was truly frightened, huddled in the corner, holding the blanket, trembling as she pleaded with May: "Please, my child is truly innocent, don’t hurt him."
"I won’t harm your child, but I need you to tell the truth. Was it your brother who instructed you against my child?" May pointed her finger at Maxwell’s face, harshly scolding her: "If you dare lie, I’ll take your life too. But if what you say is true, justice will be served, and henceforth, there will be no debts between us."
Thinking it over, Maxwell finally decided to confess to May: "I’ll tell you the truth. Before I drugged you, my brother approached . He gave a bag of stuff, told to find a way to move into Zenith Villa, and then drug you. I thought, since my brother didn’t plan to keep the child anyway, I might as well help him by doing this. So I just... just..."
This revelation hit May like a bolt from the blue, leaving her stunned and motionless for a long ti.
Victor Grant, thinking it was enough, let go of Audrey Vance and walked to May’s side, compassionately saying: "May, don’t overthink it. You’re already free of that scumbag Vincent Vance, aren’t you?"
May turned to look at Victor Grant, then at Maxwell, biting her lip in frustration, unwillingly asking: "Did he tell you why he didn’t want my child?"
Maxwell lowered her head, mumbling quietly: "How would I know? n are just like that. My brother probably stopped caring for you long ago. If he doesn’t care, then what does the child an to him? This way, you might as well just leave, right?"
Yes, this way, she might as well just leave, right?
What a perfect ending, what a perfect plan. It turns out Vincent had been orchestrating this all along. No wonder he acted so indifferent and detached when she miscarried, no wonder he could bring another woman into her ho right after she lost her child, even indulging in affairs on her bed.
But Vincent, I can forgive your betrayal and disloyalty to , but I can never forgive your cold-heartedness toward my child.
I, May Morgan, once said that a blood debt must be repaid with blood, and I won’t let anyone off the hook.
"I understand now. You’ve paid the price for your sins, and from here on, we owe each other nothing. Goodbye." May gave Maxwell one last cold look and turned and left the hospital room.
Victor Grant followed her out, but seeing May walking so hastily, he was worried she’d do sothing rash, almost jogging to catch up with her and persuade her: "May, don’t think about it anymore. That bastard Vincent is just a scumbag. Don’t deal with a jerk like him in the future."’
