This face is ruined. Even if she escapes, what good would it do? For the rest of her life, she would have to hide in the deep mountains, unable to see people or the sun. If she went out, she would definitely be mistaken for a monster and beaten to death.
"Do you want revenge? If you do, I’ll help you!" The woman slowly extended her hand from beneath the black cloak, then touched lanie’s face and said: ’This face is completely destroyed. If you want to restore your appearance, you need to swap skin!’
"Swap? Swap skin?" lanie looked at the old woman in shock, not understanding what she ant for a mont.
The old woman’s aged face slowly revealed an eerie smile: "Help you change your face and start anew, don’t you like that?"
"Ye, yes!"
lanie valued her looks the most. Her face was ruined, which felt like losing half her life. If soone could help her regain her beauty, she couldn’t be happier.
Is there really such a good thing in the world? lanie felt like she was dreaming.
The woman saw lanie nodding in agreent, then slowly opened that withered branch-like hand in front of lanie. Instantly, two worm-like creatures appeared in her palm.
"What...what is this?" lanie, who feared worms the most, recoiled in disgust.
The old woman, seeing lanie trembling with fear, sneered and withdrew the creatures from her palm: "Since you’re so afraid, then forget it."
"No, don’t go, I, I will listen to you!" lanie, seeing the woman about to leave, quickly grabbed her arm in fear but was suddenly stunned when she touched her arm.
This woman’s arm felt like a withered branch. Even if she were all shriveled up, it shouldn’t feel like this, right?
While she was lost in thought, the two worms in the woman’s palm swiftly crawled up her arm and, in the blink of an eye, burrowed into her body.
lanie’s eyes widened in terror as she watched the two worms wriggle under her skin. Before she could scream, the worms had already made their way to her face.
"This face is ruined; I’ll help you remove it." The old woman said to lanie casually.
lanie couldn’t feel any pain, but she clearly felt the fear of the worms moving underneath her skin.
She opened her mouth in fear, wanting to scream, but didn’t know if she was too terrified or if the worms within her controlled all her nerves. No matter how hard she tried, she couldn’t make a sound.
She could only sit there like a piece of wood, filled with terror, as the two worms thoroughly road around her entire face.
lanie could even feel her face falling off bit by bit until blood trickled down, until that ugly face completely fell onto her thighs.
Watching her own face being peeled off, lanie almost fainted in shock.
Her face was destroyed, and she could still hide away to survive. But now, without a face, how could she live anymore?
"My face, my face..." After the worms left her face, lanie finally could speak. She stared blankly at her own face, unable to cry despite wanting to.
The old woman sneered, attacking her: "A ruined face, what’s it good for? Besides, with this face, you’ll always be a murderer."
"But like this, how am I supposed to live?" lanie fearfully reached out to touch her face but ultimately lacked the courage to touch the faceless muscles. It was too terrifying. Why was she so miserable?
"You can find a face to replace it now." As she spoke, the woman’s dim eyes deliberately glanced at lody White’s face, who had fainted.
Although lody was middle-aged, she maintained her skin well. Even if it wasn’t as good as lanie’s was before, it was much better than her current face.
lanie followed the old woman’s gaze and looked at her mother but hesitated a little. It’s not that she disliked her mother’s face; it was just that she was her mother, her only relative?
How could she bring herself to do it?
"Not going to act?" The old woman, seeing lanie’s hesitation, suddenly threatened her: "I remind you, your face detached from your body can only last for a few minutes. If you don’t decide, you’ll have to face the world like this."
lanie reached out to touch her mother’s face and rembered the old woman’s warning. Finally, she gritted her teeth and said, "Mom, I’m sorry."
After she said these apologetic words, she raised her head and said to the old woman, ’Use my mother’s face. I think she would agree.’
The old woman curled her lips in a sinister smile and extended her hand once more, placing the two worms onto lody White’s arm.
However, just as the worms were about to burrow into lody White’s skin, she suddenly awoke.
When she opened her eyes and saw lanie’s bloody, flesh-torn face, she almost fainted again in fright.
"Who, who are you? Don’t kill !" lody White was terrified, hastily pushing away lanie and turning to run.
lanie grabbed lody White’s arm and begged her, ’Mom, it’s , lanie. Don’t run, what would I do if you run away?’
lody White recognized her daughter’s voice and imdiately burst into tears: "What happened to you, daughter? Did you get hit by a car? My poor daughter, how could this befall you?"
lanie gritted her teeth and said to lody White, ’Mom, I don’t want to die, nor do I want to live my life with an ugly face.’
lody White didn’t understand the aning behind lanie’s words and cried as she comforted her: "No, daughter, I’ll sell the house and hire a lawyer for you. I’ll definitely get you out of this."
"It’s no use, mom. We can’t fight against May Morgan and Vincent Vance unless you take my place and die for !" A streak of malice flashed in lanie’s eyes as she suddenly spoke to her mother.
lody White paused and shot forward, away from her daughter, looking at her in disbelief: "What are you talking about?"
lanie looked at her mother, coaxing her: "Mom, am I not your only daughter? Why don’t you take my place in prison, okay?"
lody White thought sothing was off with lanie’s words. Take her place in prison? The law had already determined it was lanie who killed people. How could she take her place?
"lanie, what nonsense are you talking about? I don’t understand!" lody White’s eyes shifted as she hurriedly pacified her daughter.
She indeed only had this one daughter, and she wouldn’t mind losing everything to save her. But to take her place and die, she wasn’t willing.
You only have one life, and she hadn’t had enough of it yet.
