553: Chapter 553: Mister Huo: Are you taking advantage of my good temper?

553: Chapter 553: Mister Huo: Are you taking advantage of my good temper?

The indifferent attitude of Huo Yirong made Su Jingshu feel restless deep down.

She clenched the bag in her hand, then slowly released it.

This action was repeated several tis.

After much contemplation, Su Jingshu spoke evenly and calmly as she usually did, “Huo Yirong, I ca to you today concerning matters of the Nangong Family.”

The motion of Huo Yirong flipping through the files in his hand froze for a mont.

He lifted his head, and a trace of mild mockery flashed in his solemn eyes.

He looked at Su Jingshu with a teasing gaze, sizing her up and down.

“Miss Su, we no longer have any relationship to speak of, isn’t it inappropriate to call by my na directly?”

In the depths of Huo Yirong’s eyes, a palpable hostility was visible, yet it strangely gave off an impression of being playfully flirtatious and uninhibited.

For Su Jingshu, it felt like she had been doused with a bucket of cold water from head to toe.

Her feelings were too complex to express in words.

Over the years, because of the marriage arrangent between the Huo and Su Families, she was always treated with courtesy by the Huo Family.

The worst thing they ever did to her was confining her within their premises.

During that ti, she didn’t confront Huo Yirong face-to-face.

Deep down she still held onto the belief that even if the two families severed ties, the Huo Family wouldn’t deliberately make things difficult for the Su Family, or specifically her.

Being treated this way by Huo Yirong now, she felt a degree of unease.

Thinking about how the life of Nangong Chang was still in the balance.

Su Jingshu gritted her teeth and beckoned, “Master Huo.”

A satisfied smile spread across Huo Yirong’s face.

He placed the docunts back on the table, leaned back comfortably in his seat.

His body language was utterly relaxed, a picture of contentnt.

Huo Yirong began causally, “Miss Su, what brings you to seek your forr betrothed?”.

Without inviting her to take a seat, he intentionally made things difficult for her.

Enduring the discomfort, Su Jingshu clenched her bag and said with sincerity, “Master Huo, I am here for the Nangong Family.

I implore the Huo Family to show rcy.”

Huo Yirong laughed with an undercurrent of scorn, “Su Jingshu, do you even know what you’re asking?”

He changed the position of his crossed legs, spreading them apart with one foot on top of the table.

The debonair vibe was even more pronounced.

At this mont, Master Huo hardly seed like an aristocratic son raised by a prestigious family, he appeared roguishly charming.

Su Jingshu cast her gaze down, staring at the carpet under her feet and responded calmly, “I do.”

With that acknowledgent, she could say she stepped on her own pride and dignity.

In the obscure depths of Huo Yirong’s eyes, a cold and chilling light surfaced.

“Su Jingshu, who do you think you are?

Why would the Huo Family spare the Nangong Family for you?

Even if you were my wife, you wouldn’t be in a position nor have the right to intervene in this matter!”

Su Jingshu looked up, her eyes showing a spark of rational calm.

“Master Huo, I just want Nangong Chang to live; the other mbers of the family have nothing to do with .

It’s just one person’s life, it wouldn’t be too difficult for you, right?”

With a smirk tugging at the corners of his mouth, Huo Yirong responded playfully, “A life of man on the brink of destruction is indeed not a big deal, but Su Jingshu, what gives you the right to ask for my help?”

Su Jingshu’s eyes trembled slightly as she answered in a humble tone, “Master Huo, I beg of you, spare Nangong Chang.”

“Is that how you beg for soone’s favor?”

Huo Yirong squinted his eyes, intensifying his gaze as he looked down at the carpet under Su Jingshu’s feet.

One glance from him was enough for Su Jingshu to understand his aning.

She widened her eyes in disbelief.

“Huo Yirong, don’t push it too far!”

Huo Yirong shook his head, replying in a deep voice, “It seems Miss Su doesn’t have any sincerity.

Let’s not waste each other’s ti, take care.”

Su Jingshu stood still, not moving at all.

Huo Yirong picked up the docunts on the table again, flipping through them as if no one was there.

Ti slowly went by.

Su Jingshu still hadn’t left the room.

The two of them were in the sa room, seemingly not affecting each other.

Until the sound of sothing heavy dropping echoed in the silent room.

Su Jingshu knelt on the ground, biting her teeth, her posture was humble, like a lowly ant.

With her head down, she gritted her teeth and said, “Please, Master Huo, spare Nangong Chang.”

Huo Yirong glanced at Su Jingshu, his eyes keen as a torch.

He tugged at the corner of his mouth, the movent barely visible.

After a brief glance, a displeasure flickered in his deep-set eyes.

He stood, casually tossing the docunt onto the sofa.

Su Jingshu heard the soft footfall of his shoes against the carpet.

Her breath hitched.

This humiliation was different from kneeling before Nangong Chang, submitting to him without reservation.

A barely audible laugh ca from above her.

Huo Yirong’s laughter was low and foreboding, hinting at mischief and danger.

He raised his foot, stepping onto Su Jingshu’s shoulder.

Forcing her already thin fra to sink further downwards.

“Su Jingshu, do you think I’m just a pushover?”

The force of his foot on her shoulder forced Su Jingshu to brace herself with her hands on the carpet, to prevent herself from collapsing.

Feeling Huo Yirong’s anger, she quickly denied, “I did not.”

“If you haven’t, then why are you pleading for another man in front of ?”

Huo Yirong removed his foot from Su Jingshu’s shoulder.

He used the tip of his shoe to lift her chin.

The anger, humiliation, unwillingness, and pain in Su Jingshu’s eyes reflected into Huo Yirong’s.

He sneered lightly, “Tsk Tsk…

just look at your little face, expressing such a wonderful show.”

Huo Yirong naturally exhibited a distinguished air with every gesture.

At this mont, Su Jingshu was as helpless as a beaten dog.

Seeing her biting her lip and refusing to speak, the humour in Huo Yirong’s eyes quickly faded.

He caressed her cheek with the toe of his shoe.

The humiliation was unmistakable.

Such treatnt was a lifelong shadow for a lady of stature like Su Jingshu, a mory she would find hard to erase.

A surge of anger and fear arose from the depths of Su Jingshu’s heart, her whole body trembling uncontrollably.

This was the most humbling mont in her life so far, causing her to suffer greatly.

The next mont, Huo Yirong bent down and grabbed Su Jingshu by the throat.

A cold, sinister smirk was visible on his face.

“Su Jingshu, do you really think I am soone who can be easily pushed around?

The ridiculous situation you put in with your premarital pregnancy was a huge embarrassnt for .

I haven’t even confronted you about it yet, and you have the audacity to seek attention, especially by pleading with for another man.

Are you that desperate for n?

Is one or two n not enough for you?

How did that pervert Nangong Chang turn you into this?

How did the dignified, poised and elegant Su Family’s Miss, who was once seen as the perfect wife in many n’s eyes, beco a dog?”

Huo Yirong’s eyes were full of undisguised danger.

He stared at Su Jingshu as though he was looking at a dead person.

Su Jingshu felt lightheaded, struggling for breath.

Each word Huo Yirong spoke was torture to her.

It was pain that she had long repressed, unable to vent, but had been forced to endure humbly.

Colour drained from Su Jingshu’s lips, she weakly uttered, “Please spare Nangong Chang’s life, Master Huo.”

Watching her seemingly composed but actually insane style, a glimr of disappointnt streaked across Huo Yirong’s eyes.

He released Su Jingshu’s throat, speaking in a disinterested tone, “Su Jingshu, your sincerity is not enough to spare Nangong Chang’s life.”

Having said that, Huo Yirong turned to leave.

A sense of loss welled up within him.

He was particularly bored.

Back in the day, Su Jingshu was the capital city’s premiere maiden, the image of an ideal wife for many n.

But he didn’t know when she had changed.

Huo Yirong vaguely recollected.

It seed that when they ca of age, Su Jingshu changed.

The amount of n circling around her increased.

She still seed as noble, composed, and graceful as ever.

But from so subtle signs, one could see that the colour of her lucid eyes had changed.

Her eyes were always on soone else.
